Story
Meet Wonderful Wilma! Hello there, my future best friend! My name is Wilma, and I'm an affectionate and gentle soul looking for a special someone to call my very own. At four years young, I'm a lovely blend of Labrador Retriever with some Great Pyrenees, bringing both loyalty and warmth wherever I go. My favorite thing in the world is being by your side. I'm known for my empathy and cuddles—when someone feels down, I gently nudge my way closer, hoping my soft presence can lift their spirits. I adore humans of all sizes, and I've spent my entire life happily sharing my heart with children (ages 9 and 11). Nothing makes me happier than cozy evenings curled up on the couch or adventures in the great outdoors—exploring new scents on long walks sounds just dreamy! Now, I'm not perfect (who is?), and I have my quirks. I've shown I prefer being the queen of my castle—I get a bit assertive around other dogs, so a home without canine siblings is ideal for me. I've been known to go exploring if given the chance, so a securely fenced yard where I can safely sniff and stretch my legs would make my day complete. I am calm indoors and won't bark your ears off, though I do like to gently alert my humans when someone passes by our home—just my way of keeping us safe! And while car rides are okay, I may need some encouragement to hop in, plus a little Dramamine for longer adventures. My ideal match would be someone who appreciates a calm yet playful companion – tug of war anyone? Whether you're a family eager to add a gentle guardian and cuddle buddy, or a person seeking a loyal companion for walks and cozy evenings, I promise to fill your home with warmth and your life with love. I've got plenty of affection to share—could you be the one to share it with me? Wilma is spayed, microchipped, and ready to find her forever home. Could that home be yours? If your heart is open and ready for a gentle giant to love, please reach out—I can't wait to meet you! --------- PLEASE NOTE:  While this Lab may not be available for adoption by the time you complete the adoption process, other great Labs are always finding their way into our Rescue.  For more information on this Lab, please contact info@brooklinelabrescue.org.   If you are interested in adopting this Lab or any other Lab from our Rescue, please visit our Web site, brooklinelabrescue.org, for more information on our adoption process. Story
Bailey is UTD on her Rabies, Distemper, Bordetella and tested negative for heartworm. She is not spayed.Bailey’s owner had to move into a small apartment adjoining her parents’ home after getting divorced.  Bailey is home alone for 8 hours a day and has a lot of energy.  The owner does not have the time to adequately take care of Bailey. Bailey is UTD on her Rabies, Distemper, Bordetlla and tested negative for heartworm and other tic born illnesses. She is not spayed. Bailey has not been around children much but she has been fine for the limited times she has been around them.  She is now living with another dog and they do very well together.  She is good with cats. Bailey is the biggest snuggle buddy. She loves to lay under the covers in bed with you at night or while hanging out on the sofa watching a movie. She loves to be loved. She has a very silly goofy behavior and will make you smile. Bailey loves car rides and sticking her nose out the window or will fall asleep for the ride. Bailey has a suspected diagnosis of idiopathic epilepsy and will have a seizure about every 3-4 weeks, sometimes less often, sometimes more often. The Vets have not been able to figure out what triggers them but the meds have been helping to lessen the frequency. The owner has taken her for many tests and x-rays since she was diagnosed and all came back showing she was healthy and inconclusive for helping with seizures. The vet has recommended to take her to a neurologist but unfortunately the owner has not been able to afford it. The seizures last about 30-45seconds she will fall over and paddle her legs and then she will be tired and get up and is very disoriented for the next 15-30mins. Within the hour she is back to her normal self and may just be more sleepy and want to rest for the remainder of the evening.  She is currently on Phenobarbital, Levetiracetam, Zonisamide.  Her medication costs about $90 a month. If Bailey is left alone for 6-8 hours she will pee inside, but she will go on pee pads.  She would do better to find a home where she is not alone that long very often.  She is known to jump a 4’ fence, a taller fence is recommended.   PLEASE NOTE:  While this Lab may not be available for adoption by the time you complete the adoption process, other great Labs are always finding their way into our Rescue.  For more information on this Lab, please contact info@brooklinelabrescue.org.   If you are interested in adopting this Lab or any other Lab from our Rescue, please visit our Web site, brooklinelabrescue.org, for more information on our adoption process. Story
Meet Bailey! Bailey is a beautiful girl who is a 2.5 year old lab/border collie mix. She is medium size, weighing about 45 lbs. Bailey is a shy and introverted girl who takes some time to warm up to people she doesn’t know, but once she does she’s friendly and wants to be close to you. She will need a person or family who will be patient with her and help build her confidence, which is a great bonding experience through training. Bailey is good with other dogs and kids (she lives with teenagers now). Because she is shy, we’re looking for a quieter home with at least one playful dog for her to give her the best chance to blossom into a confident young lady. We don’t know how she is with cats because she’s had no exposure to them so to be safe we won’t place her with cats at this time. We can’t bring Bailey into the rescue without a foster or foster-to-adopter. Please reach out to us if you’re already approved. For info on fostering and our foster application, go to our website: https://jlrrescue.org/fostering/ Adoption application: https://jlrrescue.org/adoption-application/ Our foster/adoption area is within 1 hour of Warrington, Bucks County, PA. If you have any questions about Bailey, please email us at info@jaxslabrescue.org Jax’s Labrador Retriever Rescue PO Box 214 Warrington, PA 18976 PA Kennel License #18059 📍Bailey is an owner surrender from Bethlehem, PA

Story
Hi, I’m Kody. I’m an 11 yr old Yellow Lab that came into Brookline after my Dad died. My Dad had been sick and spent a lot of time in the hospital prior to his death. So I was left home alone with my Cat buddies with someone from my Dad’s family coming in to care for us several times a day. I was really stressed when I finally came to Brookline after losing my Dad, my Cat buddies and my home. I did a lot of panting and pacing. It took me a week to settle into my Foster Home with the help of my FFM (Favorite Foster Mom). She slept on the floor with me in the living room for the first few days because I didn’t want to go to any of the other rooms, we eventually moved to the floor of her bedroom and finally I was brave enough to sleep on the floor by myself. I get along with everyone. I used to live with cats but now I’m living with 2 dogs. I also have 2 Foster Moms. There aren’t any kids here but I have met children out at events and they seem to be okay with me. I’m also fine with men, I loved my Dad! I love to be with my people, esp my FFM, I get anxious and will bark/whine when she leaves or even just goes outside. It doesn’t even matter if other people are there in the room with me. I will bark when left alone with the other dogs but only for a few minutes. When My Foster Moms went away, I stayed with another Volunteer and she said that I did fine transitioning to her home. But I did whine some when she worked out front in the garden and left me inside with her husband. When I came to Brookline, my back legs were really weak and I would fall over. I saw the Rehab Vet who said I have some arthritis in my back, hips and elbows and I have a neurological condition, GOLP (Geriatric Onset Laryngeal Paralysis) that is common in Labs. GOLP can cause increased panting and difficulty breathing along with hind end weakness which was causing the difficulty with mobility, esp on steps which I couldn’t do when I first came here. I’ve been having weekly PT sessions for pain management and underwater treadmill for strengthening and I’m walking much better now and I can even cautiously do the 5-6 steps up/down from the deck to the yard. But I’m not sure I would be able to do a full flight of steps. I also have hazy, swollen eyes, so Brookline took me to an eye Dr. The Dr said I have Corneal Endothelial Dystrophy. Did you say “HUH?”. That’s what I said, too! Doc said it’s a condition that affects the inner layer of the cornea and leads to loss of cells that normally pump fluid out of the cornea. So, fluid builds up, causing swelling, cloudiness, and blurry vision. I get eye gel daily to decrease the swelling to minimize the risk of corneal ulcers, which can be painful. I also take Appoquel for allergies.I enjoys walks and want to meet everyone I see, dog & human. I don’t get on the furniture or countersurf. I enjoy other dogs and will sometimes try to get them to play but play sessions are pretty short for me.Now that I’m feeling so much better, it’s time to look for my forever home. Could it be with you? PLEASE NOTE: While this Lab may not be available for adoption by the time you complete the adoption process, other great Labs are always finding their way into our Rescue. Story
LUKE IS STILL WAITING FOR HIS HAPPILY EVER AFTER!!!!!! Luke is a sweet resilient pup with a heart full of love and a story that tugs at yours. This beautiful boy is blind, and while the world may look different to him, he is just as capable of forming deep, meaningful connections with his family. What Luke needs right now is time to decompress, time to feel safe, and time to learn that he is in his home for good. Luke is 2.5 years old and is your typical lab. He has the most beautiful silvery coat and it's so soft. He is neutered and up to date on all his vaccines. Luke is also crate trained. As you can see in his photos and videos, Luke has some limb deformity in his front legs. It does not slow him down. He also has some arthritis in those legs due to the deformity and will need supplements daily for the rest of his life. Luke prefers the canine or human type of company. We will not accept applications with families with cats. Like many dogs with sensory differences Luke navigates the world through scent, sound and touch. New environments can be overwhelming to him at first. As you can imagine being caught off guard can be scary to him at times, so he needs someone that understands that and works with him to let him know what is in front of him or encountering him. He’s very smart and picks up these cues quickly if they are done correctly. Once Luke begins to feel secure, you’ll see his gentle but playful spirit emerge- curious and eager to bond. The ideal home would be a quiet and stable home without a lot of loud noises and sudden changes to the environment. Another friendly confident dog could help show Luke the ropes, but it is not required. What matters most is a loving family who can give him reassurance and kindness. Whether it’s snuggling on the couch, enjoying a predictable walk, or simply relaxing with his bone in a safe place, Luke is ready to start a new chapter- one filled with love, understanding and patience. To be considered a possible match for Luke, the first step is the adoption application which you can find here: https://jlrrescue.org/adoption-application/ Our coverage/adoption area is within 1 hour of Warrington, Bucks County, PA which means if you’re more than an hour away you won’t be considered. We’re a small rescue with limited volunteers and we like to be available to our adopters for support so please respect that. If you have any questions about Luke, please reach out to us by email at info@jaxslabrescue.org Jax’s Labrador Retriever Rescue PO Box 214, Warrington, PA 18976 PA Kennel License #18059 We rescued Luke from the Monmouth County SPCA in NJ
