Story
This beautiful girl has been with us for just over a year. She was originally meant to be a hunting dog, but when she became gun-shy, her previous owner stopped caring for her. After three years, I was grateful to be able to remove her from that situation and give her the safe, loving home she deserved. She now lives indoors and has been well cared for, but because she missed out on love and structure early in life, she still has a very puppy-like spirit. She’s eager to learn, eager to please, and most of all eager to be loved. Unfortunately, my two cattle dogs have not accepted her into our household, which is why I’m searching for the perfect home where she can truly thrive. She’s a total couch potato on rainy or snowy days and loves relaxing indoors. Once outside, though, she turns into a fun, energetic ball of joy. Because of her pointer instincts, she does best on a leash or a run, as she can be easily distracted. Her sweet disposition will make her a wonderful addition.

KENNEL ID #18804 Meet Pistol, a Golden Retriever and German Shorthair Pointer mix. He will turn 4 years old on April 9th. Pistol is neutered, up to date on vaccinations, and microchipped. He weighs about 80 pounds and believes he’s a lap dog!  Pistol is housebroken and crate-trained. He gets along well with cats and most other dogs, making him a great companion. As a vigilant watchdog, he has lots of energy and loves to play and run around. His favorite toy is a squeaky chicken, and he enjoys playing fetch. When he’s not active, he loves to relax and receive belly rubs. Although Pistol was raised around children, he has recently become uncomfortable in their presence, and his warning growls can be intimidating for kids. Therefore, his owners are looking for a home without children. Story
Gem is a four-year-old German Shorthair Pointer (GSP) with a zest for life and a loving nature. Like most GSPs, she’s full of energy and thrives in a home that can keep up with her active lifestyle. Whether it’s hiking, running, or exploring the great outdoors, Gem is ready to be your adventure buddy. After a day of activity, she loves nothing more than to settle down for some quality snuggle time with her favorite people. Her favorite thing, beyond anything else, is to be right by her person's side. Gem is well-mannered and has a solid foundation of basic training. She’s potty trained, walks well on a leash, and has reliable recall skills, making her a joy to take on outings. However, her hunting breed instincts are strong, and she has a high prey drive, so she requires a secure, tall, physically fenced yard (no electric fences or tie outs) to safely burn off her energy. Gem’s ideal home is a single-family home with plenty of space and a secure yard, as she needs room to run and play. She is not a good fit for renters or homes with restrictions on outdoor space. Due to her desire to chase, Gem is also not suitable for a home with cats or small animals. She lives in a foster home with six other dogs and gets along well with them, so she would love another canine companion, but would also do well as an only dog! While Gem is friendly and affectionate, she can get nervous in certain situations. For this reason, she would do best in a home with children aged 15 or older who can understand and respect her boundaries. She’s crate-trained and is most comfortable and will need to be crated when her family isn’t home, which helps her feel safe and secure. Gem is spayed, microchipped, and fully vaccinated, so she’s ready to transition smoothly into her new home. Her ideal family will not only appreciate her energetic and playful nature but also provide the structure and understanding she needs. If you’re looking for a loyal, active companion and are willing to travel to Reading, PA, to meet her, Gem could be the perfect fit!

Story
Jingle All The Way! Meet Jingles, the sweetest little girl who is always happy and wagging her tail! Jingles is a three-year-old Mini-Golden Doodle who was rescued from a commercial breeder. She has come so far in the past month living with her foster family! When Jingles first came, she would accidentally pee because she was so nervous around people but not anymore! She loves everybody and follows her foster mom around the kitchen, until she is ready to take a break and lie down. She gets along well with her foster sister, a Golden Retriever, and ignores the kitties in her home. This cute girl is so excited about her new life, she acts more like a well-trained puppy because of her zest for life! Having a bad day? Not anymore with Jingles around! Just having this happy pup around will make you happy and your heart full! She has learned to walk on a leash, and does well in the car, but does not like getting in by herself. Thankfully, at 25 pounds, she is small enough that you can just pick her up and put her in. Jingles would be fine as an only pet or with others, she is just so easy to have around. It took her a little longer, but she has learned that she likes sleeping on the dog bed. She doesn’t like going in the crate, but once she is in accepts it and will sleep quietly. When she first came, she would go in the crate at night & also when her foster mom was at work. Now that she has learned how to be a house dog, she has not needed to use it for a while. Jingles has basically mastered potty training, but we always say that regression is common when there is a change to their environment. Jingles loves chewing on Nylabones, laying on her bed, hanging out with her people, and running around the fenced in yard. (A fenced in yard is not a requirement.) She has recently learned that she likes playing with balls outside. Jingles is such a wonderful girl and would be an excellent addition to your family! Jingles is spayed, fully vaccinated and microchipped. She is currently being fostered in Strasburg. Interested adopters would need to be willing to go there to meet her. Applications for Jingles can be submitted at https://www.zoeshouserescue.com/adopt Zoe’s House, Inc Kennel #9117 PO Box 2372 Reading PA 19608
