Story
If Huey was a person he would be the captain of the track team who volunteers on the weekends at the local hospital. He is athletic and personable, a great balance, and it doesn’t hurt that he is handsome. The reality though is he is a dog, with legs made for adventure and love to share. We estimate Huey to be around a 1.5-years-old and we suspect he may be a Labrador mix but of course because he is a rescue both of those details cannot be guaranteed. He is a great mid-size boy weighing in at 56 lbs. You surely noticed in his photos but this boy has a set of ears on him that are so expressive and ensure he doesn’t miss anything. Huey is so fortunate and has been in a loving foster home while he waits for his adoption day. This is wonderful for him and you! He gets to master all the skills needed to be the best boy and you get a dog that is home-life ready. This also gives us a front row seat to who he is at home. When you get a puppy its a cross your fingers and hope you get a good one, you never get to know if their personality is going to be the dreamy fit you hope for. That is the beauty of choosing a rescue though, you practically get a spec sheet and know if the quirks are the ones you’re okay with. With that, Huey has quirks that are common in rescue dogs and will be nothing short of just that -quirks. A confident loving person by his side, some basic structure and consistency is all any dog needs to succeed. Let’s start with all his goodness, Huey is incredibly smart, motivate, and responds well to being led with confidence. Honestly, I was impressed with how he sort of straightened up and came to life when his leash was handed to someone he is familiar with and approaches him with respect and expectation. This is a boy that thrives with boundaries! And thanks to his foster family, he does great in a crate, is house-trained, and knows how to settle indoors. My favorite detail his fosters shared about him was how much he enjoys following his people around, a bit ninja like, a quiet shadow. He doesn’t want to disturb you, just to be close to you. Now for the “tour” of Huey’s dream home- actually, it might be easier to tell you what is scratched off the list. Apartment life is not his favorite. If you watched his video, you know his love of running and playing in the backyard is too true and deep for him to ever live without a yard to let loose in. Also, apartment life means all potty breaks are on leash and he is still working on his leash skills in busy areas. Navigating hallways and sidewalks on leash multiple times a day is just not the Huey vibe. No fast-life or busy-cities for Huey. Huey has had several fosters, with different home lives and he has thrived in both despite how different they are. One was a busy family, 3 kids and the neighborhood hub for kids on the block. The other, a wonderful couple and 7 other dogs in the home, who he plays with well, shares toys, and fits right into the pack. Both of these environments would be considered “busy” but he was great! In the home with children, he built a beautiful friendship with the 8 year old, who said they were “best-friends” and all the kids praised him for being the funnest playmate with the best cuddlier. .The thing is, sometimes you can be good at something but not want that forever or always. This is where Huey is with kids, long-term living with kids is not for him. We joke that he is like the fun uncle- he will play all the games, share all the toys, roll in the grass, give 1000% to the fun- but he can do that because at the end of the visit they go home and so does he- the peaceful life. Same Huey! Same! Totally get it! Invite the kids over, Huey will be a hit, then watch him take the most glorious nap in his cozy, peaceful home. Huey currently lives with 7 other dogs, he shares toys like a dream and is a great playmate. The key to him being in a home with other dogs is best seen in how the fosters manage one small element of their schedule- meal time. A very common and understandable behavior he has shown is that he does not like other dogs to attempt to eat his food. Same Huey! Same! This behavior is called resource guarding- food being the resource- guarding being him giving a clear boundary to another dog about what he has. The simple way his foster avoids this ever being an issue in a house full of dogs is by feeding him, and the others, in their crates and not offering treats or table food to any of the dogs. If you have experience with this type of behavior you know, it is easy to manage and can just as easily be a non-issue. On the other side, a one-dog household eliminates the potential for tension over meal time. You know what works for you and if he is your one and only you won’t go without- he has plenty of personality and love to give. The biggest thing to know is we want to set him up for success in a calm, structured home with someone who gets him. If you are feeling like he may be the one for you but want some more info or feedback on whether your home is that place, be in touch, we are more than happy to discuss that, no guessing needed. This boy is smart, active, and has a thing for the great outdoors—whether it’s a mountain trail or a quick ride around town, Huey’s will be ready to tag along. Bonus- he rides well in the car, likes a good breeze, and won’t say no to a nap on the couch after any adventure, big or small. While he can be affectionate, he’s not overly needy. My favorite! Huey is why we rescue, the gratefulness, the loyalty, and the deepest love you could imagine comes with the bond you share with your rescue. Huey has a head start on being the best boy, all the potential and drive, with a lot of love to give. With his very-own forever person, y’all are headed into a really good life together. Statistics show that there are over 1 million homeless animals in this region alone. Three Little Pitties Rescue is a nonprofit dog and cat rescue that partners with the community to make a difference. Our mission is to reduce the homeless pet population through community outreach, free spay and neuter services, and saving all breeds of dogs and cats from the streets or animal shelters that oftentimes have no other option but to euthanize animals for space. This dog you’ve found online is lucky to be in our program, and even luckier to have you notice it! Three Little Pitties wants to set you and your new pet up for success! We know our dogs and we work hard to prepare them socially for adoption. We are a network of dedicated people who are heavily invested in seeing our animals thrive. From the moment they are accepted into our program, our Intake, Behavior & Medical teams prepare them for adoption by properly vetting, behaviorally assessing, and providing customized plans depending on the dog’s needs. We provide weekly socialization programs for our dogs through playgroups and group leash training classes available to all dogs in our adoption program, and Doggy Sleepover, Doggy Day Out, and Ambassador programs for our boarding dogs. There is a professional dog trainer on staff to provide support for our fosters and dogs, and an off-site dog trainer for dogs that need more extensive behavior modification. This helps us learn deeply about every dog, prepare them for adoption, and ultimately match them with loving families. We seek to adopt to families who understand that these are rescue dogs and will require continued training efforts, but will be well on their way to being the best dogs that they can be! It doesn’t stop there! Our adopters also receive these special perks: • 30 day trial of pet insurance with Trupanion (must register within 24 hours of first vet appt.) • A free private online dog training session with GoodPup plus low pricing for future sessions (approx $25 weekly for an 8 week course of one session per week) • One free bonus toy in every BarkBox when signing up for their Super Chewer subscription plan • 70% off of your first order of Fetch, a PNW based, organic fresh dog food loaf meal subscription plan • Coupons for a fun visit to Petco • Access to our exclusive FB Adopters page, where you can network for play dates, resources, and connect with other adopters that share their passion for their adopted pup! Story
Meet Joseph Jude Caney! He is currently 12 weeks old, 12 pounds, and we think he may be a Labrador Retriever/German Shorthaired Pointer mix, but with rescue it’s always a guess! This puppy is from a part of the US where puppies are regularly euthanized. So, this puppy needs you! If you choose a puppy from this rescue, it saves their life AND it also allows us to save the life of another in its place. Watch Joseph's video here: https://youtu.be/BOC7nhG5QVY Joseph is currently in a loving foster home and loves to play and take lots of naps! Eat, sleep, play, repeat. Joseph is living his best puppy life right now - all he needs is YOU! Joseph is still young so he will need a family that can commit to training, socialization and all the dedication puppyhood requires. Joseph's new family will need to continue with potty and crate training and daily exercise. We require a commitment from adoptive families to crate train their new puppy. When old enough, they will be perfect to go on walks and hikes or show off around your neighborhood. You will be guaranteed to get lots of kisses in return from your new best friend! Story
If you have ever dreamed of having a dog but would love to skip the puppy stage, basically fast-forwarding straight to the golden era of dog companionship — meet Baird! This beautiful boy comes pre-loaded with everything you otherwise work years to get to in your best friend - calm energy, house manners, a gentle, welcoming heart, and a love for the simple things in life. Take a look then come back to read more-https://youtu.be/AcpOzm9nMv8 Baird is likely a Lab Mix, 86 lbs of seasoned sweetness, and we estimate him to be around 8 Years Old. Keep in mind, because he is a rescue dog we cannot guarantee age or breed. You don’t need me to point out his warm, soulful eyes- it is what drew you in- but ill tell you, in person they are the kind of eyes that hit like a warm hug. Eyes that could tell a story but also say “tell me all about your day.” Baird is very fortunate and is being fostered in a loving home. When we asked them to share what they love about Baird they both lit up- it was easy to see he had already made a great impression. Quickly, his fosters got to telling us all about him and what a total dream he has been— easy, affectionate, quiet (except when he sings, more on that in a bit,) and steady force of love in the house. He is also house and crate trained, has perfect house manners, and gets along with their crew of personal dogs like he’s known them forever. Bonus points if you get a kick out a dog with a voice. Baird and his friends have formed a quartet, practicing their blues howl in the living room. They don’t have a set schedule for these practices but you will know when the mood strikes. We love it but we doubt an apartment neighbor would so we are going to recommend Baird for house+yard life. Baird is cooperative and respectful on leash, he does enjoy a walk, but his need for speed days are behind him. His pace is perfect for strolling and because he is calm passing dogs and friendly with people, there is no where you can’t enjoy a walk with him. When we introduced him to new dogs, he gave polite greetings, then mostly chose to sniff around and mind his own business. It is giving classic “been there, done that” energy. He’d do beautifully as a solo dog or alongside another low-key companion who shares his love of peace and maybe wants to be part of a new blues-howl group. Cats?Just like everything else, Baird says “No problem!” He will coexists like a gentleman. He politely greeted our house cat and then moseyed off to lay down. Crate? No problem there either- walks right in like it was his office. Strangers? Has heard of them but hasn’t truly ever met one. He doesn’t push to make everyone a best friend but is always ready for a quiet acknowledgment and a soft hello. This is a dog for someone who doesn’t need fireworks to feel a spark. A soft bed, a quiet room, maybe a cozy porch to share at sunset — that’s Baird’s kind of heaven. He’s what happens when a good boy grows up to be a great man. So if your home is calm, your heart is open, and your pace is slow and steady — Baird will fit right in and make it just that much sweeter! Questions? Netflix and chill anyone? Calling all homebody enthusiasts! We have found the perfect boy for you! Finn is the ultimate good boy with the blockhead. I’m not sure if he thinks he is full dog or full potato! He loves to give kisses with his massive tongue and to be fed treats out of the palm of your hand. His signature move is belly rub begging L O L and you will see that consistently throughout his video below. https://youtu.be/ikvE4g7QTlg Finn is 82 pounds of pure love! We believe he is a black lab pittie mix and about 2 years old. Due to him being a rescue, age and breed are not guaranteed. But no matter what he is, you will want the joy of experiencing the vibe that is Finn! Don’t let his weight deceive you, Finn is pure teddy material! As soon as you enter the room, Finn will greet you with a lick, a wag, and a roll, promptly expecting belly rubs in return. He is not interested in running or hitting the gym. He wants lazy days every day filled with treats and affirmation. He prefers the life of pampered luxury. Due to Finn’s size, he may be best in a home over an apartment! But he doesn’t require a lot of exercise and he is definitely not looking for vigorous walking. So, if you don’t mind a tight squeeze of living space, any size apartment will do as well. He is a bit of a mosier and tends to get worn out easily, so keep in mind that stairs and long walks to get to a potty space will be a bit strenuous for him. Finn isn’t the first one to be picked in a game of tag or chase. But he may give you a good run in tug of war. He has no issue with doggy friends as he lives in a foster home full of puppy siblings! But he may not be the best partner for a sibling expecting tons of play partnership. Finn would honestly be fine as a solo pup as well. The adoration of his humans is what he craves the most. Do you have kids? Finn would love to help keep them company! He had so much fun playing with our staff’s kiddos aged (4) and (5). He absolutely swooned over getting pats on the head and treats galore. He wasn’t phased at all by their screaming or jumping off the couch. He was just happy to be a part of the fun! Finn really likes the dog life. He wants to be the prime pet to bask in all the good sun spots by the window. He should be in a home with no cats to avoid any turf wars for lounging locations. I imagine Finn’s motto would be “It’s all chill vibes man.” He is going to be the perfect addition to a family just looking for a boy to cuddle with and snuggle with. He’s the type of dog that is going to leave an imprint on his family’s life forever. There are some dogs that are just pure to the core, and Finn is one of them. Are you ready to adopt this cuddle bug? Apply below! https://adopt.animalsfirst.com/animal/62cc8e128b02916730334440/67e1c1295f1c558389059753 Questions? Story
There’s something truly comforting about coming home to Mr. Snoopy Doopie. With his soft, soulful eyes and that goofy, heart-melting grin, he has a way of making the stress of the day melt right off your shoulders. He’ll be waiting at the door like clockwork, tail wagging with calm excitement, ready to offer a warm welcome and the quiet kind of companionship that only a seasoned, gentle dog like Snoopy can give. Whether you want to kick your feet up with a good book, watch your favorite show, or just soak in the stillness, Snoopy is perfectly content to curl up beside you, or nap at your feet like the loyal shadow he is. Snoopy is believed to be a lab mix that weighs approximately 70lbs, though of course, being a rescue dog, his ancestry is just part of the mystery that makes him so special. What we do know is that this distinguished gentleman, estimated to be around five years old, has impeccable house manners and a temperament that people search far and wide for. He’s calm without being distant, affectionate without being needy, and always seems to intuitively understand the vibe of the room. Snoopy isn’t here to steal the spotlight, he’s here to complete the picture. Check out Snoopy here: https://youtu.be/9OrRzPf4h8E He currently shares his foster home with children and has proven himself to be a natural fit for a family setting. He doesn’t add chaos to the home, he brings calm. He’ll join in for a short play session, get a giggle or two, then ease into a cozy spot nearby while your kids settle into homework or reading time. It’s as if Snoopy knows just how to show up in every moment: gentle, grounded, and kind. Snoopy also does wonderfully with other dogs and is currently fostered alongside doggy siblings of different sizes and personalities. He’s polite, patient, and easygoing with canine companions, never one to stir the pot or compete for attention. He would be fine with or without a canine sibling. If there is another pup in the house, a low energy companion would be preferred. But he has no problem being your one and only as well! And when it comes to cats? Green flags all around. During his cat test at the rescue, Snoopy was calm, respectful, and showed no prey drive or reactivity. With a dog-savvy cat and proper introductions, he would do just fine in a home with feline friends. One of Snoopy’s favorite things is keeping his foster mom company in her home office. He has effortlessly slipped into the role of “best work-from-home coworker,” happily snoozing nearby while she works, occasionally peeking up with those sweet eyes just to say hello. He never demands, but he always gives, whether it’s quiet companionship, a goofy smile, or a gentle nudge to let you know he’s close by. At this stage in his life, Snoopy isn’t looking for the next big adventure, he’s looking for a soft place to land, a family who appreciates the peaceful joy of a lazy morning, a slow walk, and the comfort of a loyal friend always by your side. His foster family can’t say enough wonderful things about him. They rave about how loving, steady, and well-behaved he is, simply put, Snoopy is one of the good ones. The kind of dog who reminds you of everything right in the world. Snoopy Doopie is the total package: gentle, dog-friendly, cat-tolerant, kid-approved, and full of love to give. Whether you're looking for your very first dog or your next perfect companion, he’s the type who will quietly nestle into your life and your heart like he was always meant to be there. If you think Snoopy could be your guy, we’re happy to test him with anything you need, just say the word. He’s ready to go home. All that’s missing is you.
This is the feedback we tend to get, although we cannot guarantee perfect health. *To fully vet a dog in the PNW at many vets it would be upwards of $1,800 just to fix, vaccinate, chip, etc. The adoption fees charged by our rescue do not cover our expenses medically for each animal, but we offset costs with donations. Your adoption fee goes beyond getting a fully vetted pet, it’s also a donation toward our mission of helping to solve the pet over-population crisis in TX. Why adopt from Three Little Pitties? The stray and animal overpopulation in the Greater Houston area is the highest in the nation. We celebrated our 7 year anniversary this year! Through the combined efforts of all of our hardworking staff and volunteers, we have placed over 12,000 very lucky dogs and cats into amazing homes! By adopting from us, you save TWO lives! The pet you adopt, and you create an opportunity for another animal to be saved in that spot. Together, we can be heroes.
