Story
Hi! My name is Persy and I am a wonderful puppo! I LOVE tennis balls and since I am an all-weather gal, I don't mind plunging in the snow to get them. I am a compact 50ish lb. terrier-mix with a short coat, soft ears and cute terrier toes. I can be trusted when left alone to not get in the trash or shred your things, but I'd prefer to come with you as I am quiet and sit in my seat on car rides. I walk VERY gently on a leash and take teats just the same. I don't bark, even when I am feeling playful and silly, so I could live nicely in an apartment. I also don't get upset if you pick me up, or touch my tail, toes, ears or mouth, but I will probably give you a lick if you do. I am house broken and am probably smart enough to use a doggy door if you have one. I am learning to sit ... for bacon! With all my wonderful qualities, you are probably wondering why I am looking for my forever home at the beautiful age of 8. Unfortunately, my best friends are humans and only humans. I am very sweet with two-legged friends but am otherwise best described as dog and cat 'de-selective.' I need to be the 'only child,' but I promise to make it such a sweet, funny, easy time that you won't need anyone else. I am untested with kiddos, but will probably be fine with them.To meet me, please fill out an application at http://caws.org/adoption-application. Dogs are not placed on a first-come, first-serve basis. We strive to find the perfect home for each animal. Applications may take up to 48 hours to process. All CAWS animals are fixed, microchipped, and vaccinated. Her adoption fee is $200. Story
Hey you, yeah you, are you looking for someone to get you up off the couch and motivate you to get some exercise? Need a running buddy or a pal to take on those lovely Autumn hikes? Well my name is Barry, and I promise you I won't let you become one with the couch or forget to move your body. Want to know more about me? Well I'm a three and a half year old black lab/collie mix who is high energy. I'm about 50 pounds so I'm a really great size for most types of homes, and while I'd prefer to have a nice big yard to play in I could probably be okay in an apartment if I had a very active family that took me out to run and play frequently. I'm still learning my manners and will need someone patient who can work with me on basic training and who'll wear me out regularly. I'm crate and house trained. Once I'm worn out, I'm a big ol' snuggle baby who just wants to be loved and I LOVE cuddling at night if you'll let me... In return I promise to always be silly and make you laugh, keep you active, and to love you more than you've ever been loved in your whole life. Some of my favorite things include playing/wrestling with other dogs, chewing on chew toys and bones, and food! Treat motivated = easier to train, and with a firm hand I know I can be the best dog. I'm good with kids, they make me happy. I haven't yet met a cat to know how I'd do with them. So what do you say, ready to take home your next personal trainer/cuddle buddy/best friend? I'm ready-let's do this! Dogs are not placed on a first-come, first-served basis. We strive to find the perfect home for each animal. Applications may take up to 48 hours to process. All CAWS animals are fixed, microchipped, and vaccinated. Barry's adoption fee is $200. Story
Jezebel is a sweet, spunky, and silly 60lb, 1 year old lab mix! She is potty trained, crate trained, and walks great on a leash. She loves going for walks, playing with toys, and cuddling on the couch. Jezebel is a typical young lab -- happy, eager to please, smart, and learns quickly. She is working on basic training and her manners, and is food motivated. Jezebel loves other dogs and all people. She would do great with an active family with a yard who will continue training to make her the best dog she can be. She has the best heart and most expressive eyes, her tail never stops wagging, and she is a complete lovebug. Story
This handsome boy is Roman! He is a two year old male lab/pit bull mix who is crate and house trained. Roman can be shy at first but when he warms up to you he'll want all your loving. He loves to have his head and belly rubbed the most. He is affection motivated and has been training easily because of it. He knows several commands like, sit, and is working hard to learn the rest. Roman loves the snow and will run crazy through it. Roman loves his people and likes to be near them and to snuggle. He is very cat curious and likes to follow them around trying to play with them. He has been good with other dogs, and can sometimes get jealous if they are getting loves and he's not. He has been good with young children, but his exposure had been limited so older children might be best. To meet Roman, please fill out an application at http://caws.org/adoption-application! Story
Hi, hi, hi, and did I say hi? My name is Zinnia, but my friends call me Zinny! I am a one-year-old Lab X, and only weigh 40 lbs! I am the perfect Pocket Lab pup if you ask me! I may be a bit shy at first, but once I warm up to you, I'm as sweet as can be! The puppy in me still learning to trust humans, but I'm incredibly energetic and playful once I feel safe. Oh, and I love to howl -- it's my way of expressing myself! Sadly, I spent most of my life in an overcrowded Texas shelter, where I didn't get much interaction with humans. But I'm ready to leave that behind and find a loving home where I can thrive! I'm a big fan of squeaky toys, and bones -- they're just so much fun! My bestest home would be some awesome, active people who love to play with me, while still teaching and training me to be my best self! I adore other dogs, am crate and house-trained, and know plenty of tricks. I would need to have very respectful older kids, and am very curious about cats. Would you want to be mine?Dogs are not placed on a first-come, first-served basis. We strive to find the perfect home for each animal. Applications may take up to 48 hours to process. Story
Hola, Amigos! My name is Mabo! I traveled all the way from beautiful Puerto Rico to find my forever family - thanks to a network of kind and generous people and rescues. I am a 35-pound, one-year-old Labrador Retriever mix who would love an active family to call my own.I can be a little shy when I first meet people or try new things. But I am also very really curious and friendly, and that helps me overcome any fear. I am, above all else, incredibly sweet. I am a world-class snuggler. But I am also playful and an amazing companion to all my dog friends, large and small. I am potty-trained and crate-trained, and I am learning the art of walking on a leash. I'm a high energy guy, so I'd like humans who like to walk, run or hike. I'd LOVE another dog buddy to play with, and I think a confident pup in the house would help build my own confidence. I am really smart, but I'm just learning basic commands. I would love a family willing to continue my training and socialization. I would love to see new things and go to lots of new places so I can become the pup I was meant to be. I'm handsome, playful and I have the sweetest demeanor ever! I love toys (especially squeaky toys), playing chase, and treats! I also really love to hang out with my humans and get pets and snuggles. Dogs are not placed on a first-come, first-serve basis. We strive to find the perfect home for each animal. Applications may take up to 48 hours to process. All CAWS animals are fixed, microchipped, and vaccinated. His adoption fee is $200. Story
Bradley spent the first part of his life as a breeding dog in a puppy mill. He transferred to HSU for his second chance after being seized by the USDA due to the conditions in which the dogs were being kept. Bradley is currently in a foster home where he has been crate and house-trained. He really enjoys the other dog in the foster home. Bradey can get startled by new things and sometimes needs time to know he's safe when he meets someone new, but he really wants to trust people and is making great progress! This sweet guy is learning how great life can be. He wags his tail when his foster parents say his name, greets them happily, and makes eye contact with them. Bradley loves to be petted when things are calm, run around the yard, and play with other dogs. He also enjoys treats; they help him feel more comfortable when facing a new situation. He's still unsure about getting into cars, but he seems to enjoy the ride. This is where you come in! Bradley has been waiting 50+ days and really needs the consistency of adoption and plenty of time to adjust to his new life. Foster homes are wonderful, but they're temporary. He's ready to learn with you. He comes with a bag of pet supplies! You can "Name Your Own Price" to adopt him. Are you that special human who could change his world? Make an appointment to meet Bradley! Email Foster@UtahHumane.org or call (801) 506-2411.
