Story
Forky is an estimated 3-5 year-old Lab mix with a heart that is way bigger than his already-big body. From the moment he decides you’re his person, personal space becomes a very loose suggestion. Couch? Lap? Bathroom? Forks would like to be included in everything, preferably touching you just to be sure you’re still there. When Forky first arrived at the shelter, he carried a scar on the back of his neck — a quiet reminder that life hadn’t always been gentle with him. But after a little time to decompress and feel safe, his true self came bursting out: silly, affectionate, playful, and overflowing with love. He’s the kind of dog who makes you laugh daily with his clumsy enthusiasm and happy-dog energy.Forky is exceptionally affectionate and a little bit needy in the most endearing way. He lives for attention, cuddles, praise, and being close to his people. He also desperately wants an active dog friend who loves to wrestle, chase, and play hard for long stretches of time. A playful canine buddy would be an absolute dream for him.He has done well playing with both male and female dogs after proper introductions, though he can be reactive on leash (mostly enthusiastic barking). Once he gets to know another dog, though, it’s all tail wags and play bows. One important thing to know: Forky is a lovable wrecking ball. He is clumsy, lacks self-awareness, and has accidentally taken out his foster human at the knees a couple of times. Because of this, he’d do best in a home without tiny humans or older folks who might be unsteady — he means no harm at all, he’s just a lot of dog with a lot of excitement.Forky is neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, and so ready to give his whole heart to the right home. He’s looking for someone who loves big affection, big laughs, and a dog who will adore them with everything he has.If you’re searching for a loyal, goofy, endlessly loving companion (who will absolutely follow you room to room), Forky might just be your perfect match. ??

Story
Hi, I'm Comrade! And yes, the name fits - because wherever I go, I'm ready to become your loyal companion in snacks, walks, couch time, and all of life's daily missions. I'm a 5-year-old Chocolate Lab with a sweet heart, expressive eyes, and just enough goofy energy to keep things interesting. New places can make me a little nervous at first, but once I start to feel safe, my friendly side shines through and I'm all about pets, attention, and hanging out with my people. I can get excited easily and sometimes forget my manners in the moment, but I settle down quickly and I'm eager to learn. I'd love a calm, patient home that can help me build confidence, enjoy fun adventures, and maybe start a revolutionary movement for extra treats and belly rubs. If you're looking for a best friend who will stand by your side through thick and thin, Comrade reporting for duty.*Qualifies for Pets for Patriots program*Qualifies for Senior to Senior programPlease email Adoptions@saltlakecounty.gov with questions Primary Color: Chocolate Weight: 76 Age: 5yrs 0mths 3wks

I'm eager to learn even more with a family who will help me continue my training and channel my energy into fun activities. When playtime is over, I'm also an affectionate companion who enjoys spending time with my favorite people.
