Meet Lillian   Lillian is a darling Maltese girl weighing in at a perfectly portable 14 pounds and estimated to be between 2 to 4 years old. She is as cute as they come — the kind of dog that makes strangers smile and friends immediately ask, “Can I hold her?” This sweet girl is wonderful with other dogs and cats and would do great in a home with canine pals or as your one-and-only spoiled princess.  This little lady has a playful, spunky side! Lillian loves wrestling with both the dogs and the cats in her foster home! She very much enjoys toys- and does occasionally gut them- pulling out the fluff is so much fun! She also loves to bounce and run and play, and can be mouthy when riled up (though this is gentle and playful). For these reasons, she's probably not a great match for families with smaller children as we worry that she could knock kiddos down or choke on kiddo toys.  Lillian’s true superpower, though? Snuggling. Hercules is a 10lbs spunky and tender dog. He loves to play, excels at fetch and would do well to be working some kind of job (even if it’s following someone around the house, or doing yard work with his owner). He is very smart and understands a tremendous amount of words and signals, but struggles to listen when he gets scared. He is very expressive and will be your best friend. He is fiercely loyal and so much fun, but he is strong-willed and has a temper and can bite. He is brave but also a scared-y cat, and needs a parent who will make him feel safe. He is an alpha male with other dogs but will follow the human pack leader. He would do well to be in a family where someone can be with him for most of the day and be active with him. He doesn’t have any health issues and we just had his teeth cleaned in November. I developed health issues which makes it hard for me to take care of Hercules. He deserves to live his best life with his perfect family.

They are bonded to each other and must be adopted together.**** Maisy and Millie are a bonded pair of sweet, 4 year old girls believed to be Maltese/Yorkie mixes. While we don’t DNA test our rescue dogs, this is an educated guess based on their appearance and size. Maisy weighs about 8 lbs and Millie about 9 lbs. These two girls were found living on the streets of Houston before ending up in a large, overcrowded, and very scary shelter. When they arrived, both were covered in painful mats, had overgrown nails, and were understandably frightened and unsure in the shelter environment. Once they made it to Colorado, we had them groomed and they immediately began feeling more comfortable and at ease. Maisy and Millie are gentle, sensitive souls who simply need time and patience to feel safe. They are incredibly sweet, just a bit unsure as they adjust to all the changes they’ve been through. They are currently in a foster home decompressing and learning that the world isn’t such a scary place after all. Maisy (the one wearing the orange harness in their photos) is the more outgoing and social of the two. While the Houston vet estimated both girls to be around 4 years old, we wouldn’t be surprised if they are actually mother and daughter, with Maisy being Millie’s mom. Millie is the more timid of the pair and often looks to Maisy for comfort and reassurance. Both girls can be picked up and have their harnesses put on without issue, but they aren’t quite ready to seek out affection on their own just yet. They’re still learning that humans can be trusted and that they’re finally safe. With patience, consistency, and love, they will continue to blossom. Maisy and Millie have been with their foster for about two weeks now, and here’s what their foster has to say about them: From Maisy & Millie's foster: * * * * "Maisy and Millie are incredibly sweet pups learning that the world can be a gentle place. Maisy is the braver of the two and loves attention — she was a bit timid with me at first, so slow and low movements helped in the beginning, but once she’s being pet she absolutely melts and loves kisses. Millie is more timid and prefers to observe before jumping in. She’ll come out of their play pen to say hello and likes being nearby, especially when food is involved. Peanut butter on a finger or mealtime encouragement can help her feel brave enough for pets, even if she freezes while soaking up the love. They are both totally fine with being picked up but it can be scary for them initially and they may freeze when picked up, especially by a stranger. Both girls are incredibly sweet and do well using pee pads, though they’re still learning full potty training. Since they are so nervous, I haven't walked them / taken them outside yet. We just have a safe space (kennel in the living room with their crate and potty pads) for them to decompress until they are fully warmed up. With patience, kindness, and a calm home, Maisy and Millie will continue to gain confidence and make loving, loyal companions. I've had them now for 2 weeks and they're doing amazing! Maisy is the cutest and gets the zoomies when I get home and Millie has started doing it too!! Maisy is totally comfortable with me now and seeks out pets, snuggles, and affection. Millie is getting a LOT more comfortable with me and coming out to see me a lot more, but is still scared easily if I move too fast. I haven't tried walking them yet, and don't feel comfortable taking Millie out until she is totally comfortable with me, but I will take Maisy on her first outing this week and let you know how it goes! Their forever home will just need to be prepared for a slow start with these girls, but just trust the process and give them the safe space that they so deserve!" * * * * Why adopting two can actually be easier than one: Bonded pairs like Maisy and Millie help regulate each other’s emotions. They provide comfort, confidence, and familiarity during transitions, which can actually make the adjustment into a new home smoother. They’re never truly alone, learn routines together, and often experience less anxiety because they have their built-in best friend by their side. Maisy and Millie will require a lifelong commitment to periodic grooming and excellent nutrition (5 star food and a daily salmon oil supplement are great choices for hair care and longevity) to keep their coats cottony-soft, matte-free and shining with good health. (Though they are scared, they did great for our groomer and are okay with being held and touched!) We would love to see Maisy and Millie in a home with a individual, couple, or active retirees who have the time and heart for a loyal and loving companion. We'd hate to see them left alone all day while their family works full-time outside of the home. A family that works from a home-based office is a great choice for these sweet dogs. A positive reinforcement / force free training class promotes great behavior, bonding and confidence for these young dogs, whose self-esteems will fly high while they master their skills. "Jazzy may be tiny but she has a big heart. This little girl is so sweet and all she wants in the world is to give love & get love in return. Jazzy is incredibly tolerant and also very quiet – we’ve only ever heard her make noise when she’s upset about crate time or startled at strange noise at the front door. -I am bonded to Bella the Maltese and we are looking for a home together- Taco is a lively, affectionate, 8 year old charismatic dog, weighing in at 23 lbs, who has made remarkable progress during his time in foster care. He is currently on a prescription diet as he continues his weight-loss journey and will need a family committed to helping him stay active and healthy. Taco loves his walks, enjoys running, and is always ready for a game of fetch or a chance to play with his favorite toys. As he has slimmed down and grown more confident, his coat has filled in, giving him the appearance of a small, cuddly “Taco Bear.” Taco is playful and goofy, but he also knows how to settle. He’s happy relaxing in his dog bed, resting in an open kennel, or lounging on the couch—though he does need a little lift to get up. He can navigate stairs but prefers help in the home where there is no carpet. At the park, however, he happily bounds up the steps with enthusiasm. Taco is a dog who forms strong bonds with his people, and because of that, he can be a bit protective at times. With consistent guidance, he has made tremendous improvement. He responds very well to redirection, learns quickly, and continues to show progress. Slow, thoughtful introductions with other dogs set him up for success, and he does especially well with his bonded sister Bella—he trusts her completely and never guards around her. In fact, she helps bring out his most confident and relaxed self. Like many dogs who have been through uncertainty, Taco sometimes needs reassurance when meeting new people or dogs. He can be vocal on leash or behind barriers, and he may get a bit nippy toward ankles or clothing when overly excited. However, he corrects easily and is eager to please, making him a wonderful match for someone who can offer structure, calm leadership, and patience. Because of his excitement levels, he would be best in a home without young children. Despite these quirks, Taco is incredibly loving. He is affectionate, full of kisses, playful, funny, and devoted to his people. He is also fully house trained and has not had a single accident since entering foster care. He enjoys being near his humans but is comfortable when left alone as well. Taco and Bella are a bonded pair who truly rely on one another. Bella provides him with comfort and stability, while Taco brings her companionship, warmth, and playfulness.
