I'm Ervine. I was found with my buddy Esther near Halfway, MO. I'm still hoping my people will come get me. I will be on a stray hold until Monday, December 15. If I'm not claimed - I'll be available for adoption then.  If you're interested in adopting me, fill out an adoption application online at www.polkcountyhumanesociety.org/adopt where you will also find a link to reserve me for an appointment. Some pets are in foster homes or may already have an appointment scheduled, so the appointment is important to make sure I will be available to meet you when you come. Polk County Humane Society is located in Bolivar, Missouri, but also makes transports to the Denver, CO, Des Moines, IA and St. Louis areas twice monthly. For potential adopters in those areas, we can do a virtual visit using FaceTime or another app. Just request an appointment using the same link, but note that you want the visit to be virtual. We will call you at the time of the visit once it is confirmed. For long distance transports to Colorado and Iowa, there is an additional $100 fee to cover the cost of the transport ($65) and a health certificate from a veterinarian ($35). For transports to St. Louis, the additional fee is $50 to help cover gas. Going that last mile home for our sweet pets! All of our pets are neutered or spayed, have vaccinations appropriate for their age, treated with flea/tick/heartworm prevention, dewormed and dogs are also microchipped. #adoptdontshop ##2604725##

Story
Cricket is a loving, sweet dog with a sometimes playful personality. She is 12 years old and has been having health issues. She has allergies that are best handled with quarterly allergy injections. She has a fungul infection that has been hard to get rid of even with bathing her in proper shampoos. She requires a good amount of attention. She is house trained but will have occasional accidents if left alone too long without going outside. We adopted her when more of our kids are at home. Our last two boys are busy in high school and we work. We have limited time to give to her and in addition she does require more attention due to some health issues. We do not have the time to properly care for her. It’s very hard to put her up for adoption but I know it is best. Will keep her as long as I need to until she can find a proper home.

Story
Thelma is about 8 or 9 years old. We found here and another dog we named Louise running lose and adopted them right away. Thelma just needs a person to stay home and let her sit by your side. Thelma and Louise were found running together and over the last several years have been side by side. They may be better together then apart. The need to rehome this two is for their safety. We have an older dog that just recently has started to attack them. Not sure way. Thelma and Louise are best buddies.

I’m slowly learning that humans are not scary. Other dogs help me learn to trust. I’m shy and silly. My absolute favorite thing is sitting on the couch in my foster home. I'm very soft and super sweet. I do not shed. To help me continue to make progress, my new home must have at least one established dog that I can learn from and play with. (Let’s be honest, I wouldn’t mind a house with more dogs than humans.) I'm looking for a family who will be patient with me while I settle in and learn how to be someone’s loved pet for the first time. Watching me gain confidence is pretty cool. My daughter is allergic to my dogs. We have tried a lot but with her crawling at 9 months it is getting worse. Bandit is leash trained. He is mostly potty trained. He occasionally will mark but if have access to a yard it shouldnt be a problem. He is great with kids
