We haven't seen them with cats or kids but we are happy to discuss integration techniques with any potential adopters!   Currently Living at:   Shelter - looking for foster or forever home!!   Milkshake is Looking For:  A loving family to call his own! Milkshake is a calm, well-mannered boy who is ready to settle into the good life with his forever humans. He would love leisurely sniffy walks, gentle affection, a cozy dog bed, and plenty of time spent relaxing with the people he loves.   Milkshake arrived with a very matted coat, so he needs an adopter who understands that grooming is an essential part of keeping him healthy and comfortable. His family must commit to thorough, consistent brushing at home and regular appointments with a professional groomer. Mats can pull painfully on the skin, and this sweet boy deserves to feel comfortable and cared for every day.   Most of all, Milkshake wants to know that he is safe, cherished, and finally home. Meet Ivony Ivony is a sweet and loving Maltese girl who is looking for a wonderful forever home. She was originally purchased for $1,600 and has been deeply loved and cared for. She is truly one of the sweetest, most affectionate little dogs you could meet. Ivony loves being around people and getting attention. She is gentle, playful, and very affectionate. She enjoys being brushed and lets you brush her hair, which makes grooming her a sweet bonding experience. She loves being pampered, cuddled, and included in the family. She is semi potty trained and has already made progress, although she may still have occasional accidents. She is young and continuing to learn, so she would do best with someone patient and consistent who can continue her potty-training routine. Ivony has had some difficulty getting along with our Pomeranian, Mylo. Because of their personalities and interactions, we believe Ivony may be happiest in a home where she can receive plenty of individual attention

Meet Sprout, 5-6 years old This sweet little Maltese weighs around 6 pounds and is super sweet. Sprout was rescued from a puppy mill with his friend Cooper. He's a little bit shy for the first few minutes after meeting you but warms up when a guest gives him a yummy treat. Sprout is used to a secure, fenced yard, so CHR is asking that he go to a home with one. Since his rescue, he is LOVING life! He loves to run around the yard playing and enjoys climbing up to kiss you on your cheek. This little munchkin is used to being around other small dogs in the puppy mill, so we feel he would do best in a household with another small dog. We look forward to hearing from you! Story
A favorite among our volunteers, Star is known for her affectionate and sweet nature and her spunky playfulness—a perfect Maltese princess. Star’s foster mom describes her as a “beam of sunshine” who is full of love and gentleness. She loves lap time and gives lots of kisses and enjoys being kissed and fussed over by her humans. She especially likes to sleep or nap with her people. Star gets along well with all the dogs in her foster home and has never met a person or dog she doesn’t like. Star is around 6-7 years old and weighs around 10 pounds. She enjoys spending time in a fenced yard looking for just the right spot to eliminate. Story
Taffy was found abandoned on a rural back road, painfully matted, with fur tangled over her eyes. She understandably does not want to be abandoned again, so she is looking for a home where people are around most of the time. Taffy walks reasonably well on the leash and enjoys time sniffing around the yard. She has been staying in a foster home with other small dogs and cats and gets along well with everyone. She rides well in a car if she is secure in a cat carrier, but riding loose makes her nervous. She needs help going up and down stairs but fortunately is easy to carry. She is a very sweet girl who loves treats and being with her humans. She also loves to push her big donut bed around trying to get it comfy. Taffy is blind and deaf. We are awaiting a determination of whether she will need to have her eyes removed, as they are quite painful for her. She is currently on eye drops, which does not make her happy. Taffy is also recovering from a fungal infection in her skin, but she is receiving treatment for that and is expected to recover. She has a grade 5 heart murmur which does not currently require any treatment but will require monitoring. Taffy came to us with separation anxiety, but she now feels secure enough in her foster home that it seems to have resiolved. She also came in very matted and is happy that the groomer helped her to look her very best. She is a good communicator who rarely barks, except when shes done walking and pottying. She will occasionally bark if shes riding in car and needs to potty. She's also a great listener. Taffy is making good progress on her housetraining but will benefit from having potty pads available, at least initially. As long as she gets taken out on a regular basis, she does quite well. Taffy has had a hard life. She deserves all the good things. Can you give them to her? Apply today! Taffy is approx 12 yrs old and 10 lbs.
