Story
Lady’s a 7yo 10lb Maltese mix. She’s dog selective, cat and kid 13+ friendly. She’s housebroken if kept on a schedule but will wear a diaper and use pee pads and crate trained. She’s good in a secure fenced in yard and/or going for harness leashed walks. She’s agile, smart, likes squeaky toys, people and going for walks but will bark at people, dogs and noises. She is easy startled so best to sleep in a dog bed on the floor so not to accidentally wake her while sleeping. Lady’s foster requires a calm home, where someone is home often, so not to be left for long periods of time, be an only dog, brushed/groomed often to prevent matting along with leadership, consistency, structure and to continue working on training. If your home DOES NOT meet these requirement’s please DO NOT put an application in. We will not call anyone whose home does not meet the needed requirements. Also, we will be concentrating on local to foster applications 1st since home checks and meets with all humans and animals in home is needed at meet. Our fosters are all volunteers so aren’t always able to travel too far. Lady as all dogs should have 2 weeks in their new home with just their people who live in the home and to not have people over for at least 2 weeks. Dogs need time to settle in and adjust to their new people and environment first so they can learn to trust them first. Lady takes medication for a seizure disorder and for her eyes. She’s spayed, vaccinated, HW negative and microchipped. Currently in Phila, PA. If your home meets the needed requirements and you’re interested in applying to adopt please do so at www.tprescue.org

Story
Hi!  My name is Mattie and I am looking for a forever home. I was part of an operation to rescue over 80 small dogs in order to put a backyard breeder out of operation as we were not being very well taken care of.  One of those rescues reached out to BCAA to see if they could help some of us and they said yes ... yeah!  We were all pretty scared when we first came into foster but everyone has been so nice to us and with some TLC and time, we are slowly coming out of our shells.  I would love to find a  quiet home, maybe with a friend or two to help me learn the ropes.  My foster mom was told I am a "malti-poo" (part maltese & part poodle); she just says I'm super cute.  I weigh just a little over 9lbs and at around 18mos old, I shouldn't get any bigger.  I have gotten along with all of the other dogs I have met and even share a crate with two of my friends without any issues, including eating side-by-side.  I have done well in my crate without any accidents, barking or tearing up of any of our bedding.  I have never had a leash on before & they do scare me so I will need a physically fenced yard in order to take care of my business.  If you would like to meet me or one of my friends, please fill out an application which can be found at www.bcaaofnj.org.Interested in adopting this pet?Click here for BCAA's on-line Application! PLEASE NOTE: Our adoption fee helps to cover our expenses and includes all shots, *age appropriate*, distemper and rabies, fecal check, spay/neuter, heartworm test, grooming, and in many cases dental and also the fee we pay when we rescue from a shelter. Story
Sebastian is an 8yr old moxie who’s perfect around infants to adults. He’s in love with everyone he meets and will do anything you ask of him. He will sleep and cuddle right by your side and also give you space when needed. He’s potty trained and will tell you if he needs to go out. He was born and raised around our newborn which made him a perfect dog to have around babies and kids. He would even let kids pull his ears and be rough with him without ever reacting with violence. He’s still very active and you’d think he was still a pup with how fast and adventurous he is !

Story
Coconut(Coco) is a 8 yo Maltese weighing 8 lbs that we rescued from a commercial breeding kennel.  Coco is learning what it means to live in a home - steps, new noises, doors, touch, TV’s, leashes etc. Coco had to have her remaining teeth removed due to decay but has no trouble eating soft food. She has a great appetite. She is learning to go potty outside, walk around the neighborhood on a leash, enjoying good soft food and exploring the yard. She loves liverwurst, chicken and beef hot dogs so she will come and take from my hand and if the refrigerator door opens, she runs over just in check it’s something for her.  She is good in the crate but I do take her out on a regular schedule to potty train. She knows “go potty”. We are working on a dry crate through the night and doing really well with that. She will need another calm dog in the home to show her the ropes and build her confidence. I do have a fenced yard and stays near me; but without a fence, she will need to be on a leash to be safe. If you are willing to understand it will take time, lots of patience, moving slowly, regular routines, it will be worth it.  Mill dogs make the best pets ever who will bond with you forever. Her fur is growing in as she came in shaved.  The brown is from licking with a mouth full of bacteria caused by her decaying teeth.  We have removed those teeth and with good food and regular grooming, her looks will blossom.   Coconut is now spayed, up to date with vaccines and microchipped. She tested negative for heartworm and has been started on monthly heartworm prevention. Her adoption fee is $250.00. If interested in adopting Coconut,  please visit our website www.lharinc.org go to Adopt and complete the dog adoption application.
