Story
My name is TJ and I came very close to not being here today because people kept handing me off and one of the people who took me home got in trouble at her apartment complex and she took me to a shelter waited outside of the shelter to turn me in.  I had a skin issue at the time and because of my size and the skin condition, I would have truly been euthanized.  But Critter Cavalry Rescue had me dropped off at their vet and they immediately took care of me and my skin condition and got me neutered.  I am the nicest Mastiff boy and I am 3 years old and weigh 85 pounds.  Everyone says I am a sweetheart and so kind and nice with everyone and most all other dogs not bigger than him.  NO CATS.  I love people and I love life!   I really want to have a family to take me home and let me sleep at the foot of their bed in a big dog bed and who will take him for adventure walks and hikes too!  If you want a gentle giant boy to love and who will love you back with everything in his soul…. Please email Critter Cavalry Rescue at ccrtennessee@gmail.com   I am ready to find my REAL stable place in life and not get moved around.  PLEASE NOTE:  Our dogs are transported from Tennessee to meeting places in the states where we have posted.  Further information about us is given on our Adopt-A-Pet site.  The adoption fees vary and will be provided as well as noted on the application you receive.  Contact us at 615-661-5333 or ccrnewengland@gmail.comSeptember 29, 2023, 1:10 pm

DISCLOSURE: The adoptable pets in our program are still in the care and custody of owners who wish to re-home their pet. Owners have enlisted Rescue Well to provide marketing and screening of applicants as a service, free of charge. All fees and adoption conditions are determined by the owner. We advise that adopters do not send payment or deposits for pets prior to adopting.  ***** Kona is beloved by her family to include children, ages 9, 12, and 15; she's 1 1/2 years old and weighs 66lbs; she is also spayed, is up to date on her vaccines, and is microchipped.  Unfortunately, though, she has become reactive to strangers and other kids.  Kona's guardian with great admiration for Kona explains:  " While our dog is the perfect, loving housedog in our family with 3 children and has never harmed any of us in any way, she has been reactive with other kids and strangers.  She has never bit anyone, but has lunged on her hine legs at strangers and kids and her 66 pound frame can knock someone over.  She is muzzle trained, potty trained, and crate trained and knows a handful of commands (sit, down, spin, paw, touch, place, leave it (sometimes). look, stay, wait, come (as long as we aren't outside).   Unfortunately, at this point, if we cannot rehome her, we will be forced to surrender her to the humane society and if they will not take her, she will have to be put down. We have no other choice.   She is honestly the sweetest dog and I hate having to do this because I know that she could make another person so happy and doesn't deserve this fate.   She needs to be with someone that does not have children and is perfectly okay with her staying a house dog with not much interaction with others." Lunge/Attack Incident:  In September 2022, Kona lunged at a 12-yo child entering Kona's home.  Kona didn't bite the girl and animal control was not involved.  Kona's guardian further explains:  " The girl walked into the house behind me and Kona lunged at her and barked at her. Kona has also lunged in the same manner at a woman whom she had never met before in a new environment." Kona's guardian explains why she is making the heart-breaking decision to rehome her:  " We love this dog with all our heart, but we simply cannot keep her due to her reactivity with strangers, especially kids. Kona's guardian states the following about children: Although Kona lives with 3 children, her guardian doesn't recommend her living with children because Kona "is hyperaware of them and intently focused on them"   Kona's guardian states the following about dogs:  Kona hasn't lived with dogs and her guardian doesn't recommend her living with dogs.  Kona's guardian further explains:  " It is touch and go and depends on the dog. Any stare down from another dog or aggressive bark and it sets Kona off. She has gotten into a scuffle with another dog because of this at the dog park. Since then we are very selective with which dogs she interacts with." Kona's guardian states the following about cats:  Kona has lived with a cat (in a temporary foster home) and since Kona kept chasing the cat, her guardian doesn't recommend her living with cats.   Kona's guardian describes additional medical procedures:   Spayed and stomach stapled  to prevent flipping in a procedure on 10/3/22.   Kona's guardian describes her future ideal home/family:  " The ideal future home would be one with no kids and no other pets. Ideally someone who doesn't host a lot of parties or have a lot of people over. The commotion doesn't sit well with Kona. She is a fairly laid back dog that doesn't require a lot of exercise.  A ten minute walk each day and she is good."   Kona's guardian describes her as follows:  " We have done up to 1 hour rides in the car and she has never gotten sick, but she does end up panting on those longer rides. She loves going for rides."   Couch potato Barks alot Playful Fence Jumper Likes to be touched Fearful Independent Protective Indoor dog Outdoor dog House-Trained Crate-Trained Likes men Likes women   Rehoming Fee:  None   Location:  Bel Air, MD***** ADOPTION PROCESS  1. This big beautiful girl LOVES people.  Bailey is very well behaved and only asks that she be the only dog in the family. Bailey has no desire for dog parks.  She wants nothing more than to spend all her time with her family, chasing tennis balls and having an occasional ice cream cone.. Bailey can't wait to find a loving adopter, so be ready for all those doggy kisses she’s saving just for you!  How can anyone say no to this big bundle of love!!Your new pet will require a refresher in house-training. K-9 Lifesavers strongly recommends all new adopters enroll their new pet into obedience training. This provides for an easier transition into a new home, ensures the dog remains well socialized, and helps form a bond between the dog and the new family.           Adoption fees cover basic vetting, spay/neuter surgery (at partner vet if not fixed before adoption), rabies, distemper/parvo vaccinations, treatment for worms, heartworm testing, monthly heartworm prevention and monthly flea/tick prevention (while the animal is in our care), and transport costs from high-kill shelter. Please note that on average, K-9 Lifesavers spend significantly more on each dog than their adoption fee. Adoption fee for HW positive dog also covers heartworm treatment at our partner vets. Foster Program:    Foster homes provide for the temporary care of a rescue until the dog is placed into a loving, forever home.  For more information on becoming a foster parent, and our Foster Program, visit  http://www.k-9lifesavers.org/foster/  or email our Foster Coordinator at  foster@k-9lifesavers.orgSponsor Me!    Make a  tax-deductible donation  today by visiting us at http://www.k-9lifesavers.org/donate/  . Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Fill out an Adoption Application HARLEE IS LOCATED IN RALEIGH, NC Meet Harlee Quinn!! Harlee is a superstar fawn mastiff girl who is super sweet. She weighs in at roughly 135 lbs of laid back, but perky, personality plus! Harlee is a social butterfly who greets men and women with tail wags and pleas for pets.  Likes:  Harlee is a morning girl who will greet you with butt wiggles that will make you laugh.  She loves to snuggle on the couch and watch TV with you but is also up for a walk in the neighborhood to investigate her surroundings. Dislikes: Other than small dogs, Harlee doesn’t seem to dislike much of anything, so far. She is definitely not a fan of small dogs but otherwise doesn’t seem to be phased by much.    Personality:   Harlee is polite – she waits patiently in her crate while dinner is being prepped and walks well on leash.  She’s also a talker – she’ll have a whole conversation with you if you’re having fun.  Did we mention she snores?  Like, REALLY snores? Temperament:  She is SUPER sweet and pretty laid back. She’s curious and engages with her people. Energy level:  Moderate energy - Harlee likes to walk but she also loves to sit under the desk while you work or laze about in the sun on nice days.  Favorite activities:  Chilling in the sun, exploring her surroundings, snoring, walking, getting pets, and more to be found… Good with cats, dogs, and kids (over 6)?:   Harlee prefers the company of large or x-large dogs who share their toys.  She appreciates dogs that are calmer in nature - pups who are exuberant or overly excited seem to irritate her or put her on edge.  No cats or small dogs for this girl.  She also prefers to be in a home without small children.  Teenagers would be fine. Not good with:  Small children, cats, and small dogs. Housetrained:  Yes!  That makes life easier, right? Crate trained:  Yes!  She’s also crate trained!  But she doesn’t necessarily need it.  She does great when her people are away – either in or out of the crate. Requires a fenced yard (physical fence and/or invisible fence)?  We’ve been told that Harlee likes to wander, so a fence is preferred unless she won’t be off leash Walks well on a leash?  Harlee walks SO nicely on a leash.  If you’re looking for a walking buddy, she’s your girl. Challenges:  Harlee wants what Harlee wants and she’s sure that she should have it. Just be patient with her and be firm, and she’ll eventually move on to her next interesting adventure.  She’s a bit possessive of her person, so she needs some work on not hogging the path to that person. Any Medical issues?  Harlee has arthritis and is being treated for a low thyroid and cushings disease.  *Her foster is happy to answer any questions you may have about her care.* Harlee also made a New Year's resolution to shed a few pounds, so she’s on a low-calorie, high quality kibble diet.  :)   What would be the best kind of home?  Harlee Quinn lives up to her namesake....she's a fun, flirty girl who is a delight to foster!! She's in foster care due to a military relocation, through no fault of her own. She has adjusted amazingly well to many changes in her life and truly deserves a stable family to call her own again.  She would love a home with or without another dog sibling (although she prefers calmer dogs) and without small children.  She will make her new family incredibly happy with her sweet, loving demeanor.  Any adopter would be lucky to have her! Application Fees, Adoption Donations and Rescue Policy: Please know that 100% of our fees and donations pay for the costs of rescuing dogs. These include, but are not limited to: pull fees from shelters, veterinary examinations, vaccinations, medications and care, microchips, neuter/spay surgeries, heartworm treatments, behavior evaluations, and foster care, as needed. Our rescue policy requires the following: Adopters must have their primary residence in one of the following states: Pennsylvania, Ohio, New Jersey, Delaware, Maryland, West Virginia, Virginia, and parts of North Carolina. We will not adopt a giant breed dog to homes where the dog will have access to highly varnished hardwood steps inside the home. Any inside steps to which the dog(s) have access, must have carpeting, securely fixed stair treads, or a non-skid surface. We encourage you to remediate potential safety issues while your application is under review, prior to the home visit. Methods or devices using pain or force on the dog to control the dog, or to deter undesirable behavior is prohibited. Applications for giant breed dogs must be submitted by the property owner. Homes with children under 6 years of age will not be approved for adoption. Homes with children should have a fenced yard. Pets currently in the applicant's home must have a history of appropriate veterinary care. Veterinary records will be checked. All references must be checked before any visitation of the dog is permitted at the foster home. All family members must be present during the home visit to the applicant's home. Any dog(s) in the applicant's home must have an introductory meeting with the rescue dog being considered, before any adoption can be completed. Homes with intact dogs will not be approved for adoption. Exceptions to this policy can be found on the Adoptable Dog Page.
