Story
Bertha’s Story Meet Bertha, a 3-year-old Mastiff mix with a heart as big as her paws. Bertha’s journey hasn’t been the easiest — she was found abandoned in an apartment after her owners moved out and left her behind. Thankfully, caring neighbors stepped in and did what they could for her before bringing her to a shelter so she could have a real chance at a better life. From there, Bertha went into a temporary foster home while waiting for a full-time foster, and that’s where her true personality began to shine. At first, Bertha was very shy and unsure, but it didn’t take long to see just how much love she had to give. With patience and kindness, she blossomed into the goofy, affectionate girl she truly is. Bertha absolutely loves to play and will never turn down a cozy lap to lay her big head on. She has lived with other dogs and has done well with them, but she would prefer a home without cats. When Bertha was rescued, she was very malnourished, so we are still working on helping her gain healthy weight. Her future family should expect her to be a big girl, likely around 110 lbs once she’s fully filled out — which just means 110 pounds of love. Bertha is looking for a family that will never leave her behind again — one that will give her the security, love, and couch space she deserves. In return, she’ll give you endless loyalty, laughs, and the sweetest snuggles. Could Bertha be the missing piece of your family? Story
https://foha.org/pet/queen2023/ All hail me, your Queen! Hey there! My name is Queen, and I am a big, beautiful pup with a larger-than-life personality and a royal charm. The great outdoors is where I truly shine—I absolutely love going for walks and can never get enough of them! Leash walking? Piece of cake! I’m always ready for an adventure. Hiking is one of my absolute favorite things to do. Whether it’s a winding trail through the woods or a peaceful park, I’m in my element. There’s just something magical about exploring nature—splashing my paws in streams, sniffing out all the new scents, and, of course, rolling in the grass (I just have to!). I’m also a fantastic travel buddy. Car rides? No problem! I’m happy to either gaze out the window, watching the world go by, or just settle in with a tasty treat. And speaking of treats… let’s talk food. I. Am. FOOD. DRIVEN. Seriously, if you’ve got snacks, you have my full attention. Training? Yep, I’ve had training sessions, and with the right motivation (ahem, treats), I’m eager to learn and show off my skills. But let’s be real—I like to think I’m the one in charge, so I need a patient and consistent owner who knows my breed and can keep me on the right track. I’ve been in the shelter for two whole years, just waiting for my perfect match. I may come off as a bit sensitive, so I’d thrive in a quiet home where I can feel safe and comfortable. But once I warm up to you? Oh boy, get ready for endless love, constant demands for attention, and yes—plenty of slobbery kisses! If you can handle that, I promise I’ll be your best girl. I’d do best as the only dog in the home, soaking up all the love and attention (because let’s face it, I deserve it!). A household without kids would also be ideal, given my size and my big, excitable heart. But don’t let my size fool you—I’m a total teddy bear and a great house guest. I love hanging out with my favorite people, cuddling up, and just being part of the family. If you’re looking for a majestic, affectionate, food-loving, adventure-ready companion, I’m your girl! Let’s take on the world, one walk (or treat) at a time. If you’d like to meet me, fill out an application (no obligation), and let’s make it happen. Hope to see you soon!

Story
Hello everyone, this is Rah. Rah is a 4 year old, 110 lb female, North American Mastiff. Rah loves cuddles, snuggles and couches. Dog parks and playing fetch are her absolute fav! She is VERY gentle with children despite her size. As big as she is she is afraid of her own shadow. Overall she just loves love. She has seasonal allergies, allergic to all poultry and beef. She can eat salmon, pork, and any other type of fish. To keep her allergies at bay, she is on Prednisone. Unfortunately, my husband started school full time along with working full time. I as well work full time and she spends most of her days at home alone. My girl is built for adventures outside not stuck in a small two bedroom apartment.

*Woof* I`m in a foster home. To meet me reach out to my foster caregiver at faithsanders25@gmail.comOnyx is an 80lb cuddle bug who loves to play but can also appreciate a good nap. He loves to meet new people regardless of age, as long as they agree to never stop petting him. He is crate trained and potty trained and would make a fantastic companion for a single person or even a family with children. Onyx is a curious big guy always up for a long walk through the neighborhood. He is currently working on loose leash walking but responds well to positive reinforcement and is extremely food motivated. He knows basic commands such as sit, stay, down, and leave it but is eager and willing to learn more. If you are looking for a gentle giant to join your family, Onyx may be the one for you!

*Woof* I`m in a foster home. To meet me reach out to my foster caregiver at emily.briskin@gmail.com!Check out my awesome TikTok post (my foster family is the best): https://www.tiktok.com/t/ZP89y4f5G/My foster family says I`m a great dog. I came out of my shell very quickly and showed myself to be very friendly and sweet. I`m clearly people-oriented and eager to connect. I lived up to my reputation for good leash manners and really enjoyed a lick mat with peanut butter. Here are a few other things they said about me:- he is a very gentle giant, he absolutely loves to cuddle and shows a lot of affection. - he loves saying `hi` to other dogs and loves to play; he gets along great with our resident dog. - he loves to relax and take naps but is always ready for a nice walk; he is great on a leash! - he likes to lay by my side in his bed napping while I work. - he recently met some kids and did awesome with them. He even let them walk him! He was very calm with them and took treats very gently. I know some of the basic things, like sit, and am a good leash-walker, so we should be off to a good start when you take me home. Otherwise, I am a laid-back, easygoing pup who is always happy to be around my people. In sum, I am perfect -- and so ready to make your life perfect, too!

Story
*Woof* Please meet me at 71 Oglethorpe St Nw between 12:00 pm and 7:00 pmRikishi is not finicky when making human friends. She loves them all as her heart is as big as you`d expect in a pup of her (somewhat bigger) size. As a matter of fact, she is quite exuberant in the expression of her joy but quickly settles once she is on her walk and is then the gentlest leash-walker. She also loves to play and gives the cutest play-bows. She has some foundational manners under her doggie belt and is eager to keep studying with you. So if you need a lot of dog love and joy in your life, this gal is a prime candidate!
