Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Rhino is a handsome 2-year-old Cane Corso with soulful eyes and a quiet, thoughtful presence. He can be shy when first meeting new people, but once he feels comfortable, his gentle and affectionate personality begins to shine. He forms meaningful bonds with those who earn his trust and has a soft spot for the ladies. Rhino is crate trained when left alone and does very well overnight outside of the crate. He has experience being around dogs of many sizes and personalities and generally does well, especially with appropriate introductions and clear expectations. He has a solid foundation of training and shows good potential for continued growth. Rhino’s foster mom is actively working with him to build confidence, reinforce structure, and support positive behaviors as he prepares for his forever home. Transition & Training Support To ensure Rhino’s success during adoption, there will be a 4–6 week training and transition period with his foster mom as he moves into his new home. This period is intended to provide continuity, consistency, and guidance during a major life change. The goal is a smooth transition that supports Rhino emotionally and behaviorally while setting clear expectations for long-term success. Adopters should be prepared to participate in this transition process and maintain the routines and training strategies that have already been established. Ideal Home & Adopter Expectations Rhino will thrive in a home that understands large-breed dogs and values structure, patience, and ongoing training. His ideal home will include patient and consistent adopters who allow him time to adjust and build trust; a willingness to actively participate in the 4–6 week transition and training period; clear structure, routine, and boundaries; experience with large or guardian-type breeds (or a strong commitment to learning); proper dog introductions and ongoing social guidance; an  an understanding that training is an ongoing process, not a one-time solution.A calm, supportive environment with clear communication will allow Rhino to grow into theconfident, loyal companion he is capable of becoming.SummaryRhino is a gentle giant with a soft heart who is looking for an adopter ready to invest in him, guide him, and appreciate his steady, meaningful bond. With patience, consistency, andcontinued support, Rhino will make an incredible lifelong companion Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.January 15, 2026, 4:27 pm

Story
Current Location: Ijamsville, MD Meet Our Resident Gentle Giant: Freya! If you’ve been looking for a 105lb shadow who has absolutely no concept of personal space, look no further. This stunning brindle Mastiff is a masterpiece of muscles and mush! The Personality: She is a "sweet and happy" soul who treats every human she meets like a long-lost best friend. While she might look imposing, she’s actually convinced she is a tiny, 10lb lap dog. If you sit down, expect a century of pure love to land right in your lap! The "Bull in a China Shop": Life with her is never boring. She navigates the world with maximum enthusiasm and minimum coordination. Whether it's a "happy helicopter" tail or a clumsy zoomie session, she’s a lovable wrecking ball who just wants to be where the action is. Social Status: Dog Friendly - She’s a social butterfly! She gets along great with other canine companions and loves a good play session. Human Obsessed - Her favorite place on earth is wherever you are (specifically, on top of your feet or in your lap). Appearance - A gorgeous, striking brindle coat that is as soft as her heart. Fun Fact: She hasn't quite figured out that she's outgrown your lap, but she’s more than happy to keep trying until she fits! Are you the lap she's been waiting for? If so please click “apply for adoption” or submit an application through the Adopt tab.

You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. All of the animals posted on our site have been temperament tested. While not all are in the immediate area, once we have processed and approved your application, we will move the dog to our adoptive area for you to meet, greet and hopefully adopt. Sometimes we will have more than one application on a dog. That does not mean it automatically goes to another family but you should be aware of the fact that until you are approved and set up for the meet/greet.. the dog could get adopted by another applicant.Hello to all of my fellow Mastiff lovers.   I would like to introduce myself.  My name is Bear and I am the quintessential Mastiff mix of loyalty, playfulness, gentleness, and protectiveness.  I would love to share my home with a human/s who know my breed well, as I am not a novice owner.  I take my job seriously and want you to know when there is a shift in the environment that may need your attention.   I am not a big barker but I am vigilant until you tell me that everything is ok.     I enjoy my crate and it can be a place of calm if I start to take my job too seriously.  I am completely house trained as well.     My strengths:  Smart - I know my 8 basic safety commands in varying capacities - Look, Touch, Sit, Down Stay, Come, Leave it, and Place.  Playful - I love toys, running, jumping, and hanging with my people.  Polite - I am polite on leash unless something fun comes my way like chickens or dogs.   I can become cautious if I see strangers but I move along fine if you tell me everything's ok.   Quiet - I am not a big barker and would prefer watching as things come and go in my environment.  Loyal - I am the most trustworthy guy you will ever know once I know that you are a part of my pack.  I am trusting and enjoy a cuddle once in a while.  I will look for you and want to be with you always.  Trusting - Once you belong to me, I am yours forever.   I am a great sleeper and love my meals.  I enjoy riding in cars.   I enjoy long walks when the weather is not too hot.  I think I would enjoy hiking a lot.     Things I am working on:  Commands - Perfecting my 8 safety commands.  Trusting new things - The more places I go and the more you can let me watch from a distance, the more I can trust new places.  Trusting new people - I need slow introductions with new people who are confident and want to have a relationship.  I am not interested in casual interactions.  I will do best if I know what you expect of me in these situations but I would prefer not to be pushed or 'talked into' socializing.     I will do better with no children or other pets in the home, as I have a hard time sharing the affection.  I was not proofed with cats so I don't know how I feel about them.     General Mastiff traits -  Mastiffs are known for their gentle, calm, and loyal personalities, making them excellent family pets. They are also protective and courageous, exhibiting a natural instinct to guard their families and homes. Despite their imposing size, Mastiffs are often described as 'gentle giants' due to their affectionate and patient nature.    Here's a more detailed look at their personality traits: Loyal and Devoted: Mastiffs form strong bonds with their families and are known for their unwavering loyalty.    Gentle and Affectionate: They are naturally gentle and affectionate, especially with their family members, and enjoy cuddling and close companionship.    Calm and Patient: Mastiffs are generally calm and patient, making them suitable for households with children and other pets, though early socialization and training are still important.    Protective and Courageous: They possess a natural instinct to protect their families and territory, making them excellent watchdogs.    Intelligent and Eager to Please: Mastiffs are intelligent dogs that learn quickly and respond well to positive reinforcement training methods.    Relatively Quiet: While they can be alert and watchful, they are not typically known for excessive barking.    Can be Suspicious of Strangers: It's common for Mastiffs to be wary of strangers, but with proper socialization, they can learn to be more accepting.    If you are interested in Bear, please fill out an application at: https://reachoutrescue.rescuegroups.org/forms/form?formid=4588    Or contact: rorrcanine@gmail.com   *** Click here to sponsor this dog! ***Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.December 6, 2025, 10:18 pm

Story
Clover is a bright, silly, curious, & affectionate young Mastiff who has blossomed beautifully in foster care w/me. When she arrived, she didn’t understand toys, play, or how to simply be a dog. She flinched at every movement, yet her bubbly personality & gentle nature still shone through. Within weeks, she became a happy girl who loves fetch, learns quickly, & bonds deeply w/people she trusts. She does a happy dance when she sees her people or senses an upcoming walk. She is excellent on a leash & has strong recall. She came into my home 5 mths ago as a foster w/her companion Ginger after being removed from a home by Animal Control. I adopted them both, but a planned adoption fell through, & I am now struggling to meet their needs financially & timewise. This decision is especially painful after losing a beloved dog in June. Clover is highly responsive to training & eager to please. As a guardian breed, she can be protective but is an absolute sweetheart who deserves the perfect home
