You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. All of the animals posted on our site have been temperament tested. While not all are in the immediate area, once we have processed and approved your application, we will move the dog to our adoptive area for you to meet, greet and hopefully adopt. Sometimes we will have more than one application on a dog. That does not mean it automatically goes to another family but you should be aware of the fact that until you are approved and set up for the meet/greet.. the dog could get adopted by another applicant.Hello to all of my fellow Mastiff lovers.   I would like to introduce myself.  My name is Bear and I am the quintessential Mastiff mix of loyalty, playfulness, gentleness, and protectiveness.  I would love to share my home with a human/s who know my breed well, as I am not a novice owner.  I take my job seriously and want you to know when there is a shift in the environment that may need your attention.   I am not a big barker but I am vigilant until you tell me that everything is ok.     I enjoy my crate and it can be a place of calm if I start to take my job too seriously.  I am completely house trained as well.     My strengths:  Smart - I know my 8 basic safety commands in varying capacities - Look, Touch, Sit, Down Stay, Come, Leave it, and Place.  Playful - I love toys, running, jumping, and hanging with my people.  Polite - I am polite on leash unless something fun comes my way like chickens or dogs.   I can become cautious if I see strangers but I move along fine if you tell me everything's ok.   Quiet - I am not a big barker and would prefer watching as things come and go in my environment.  Loyal - I am the most trustworthy guy you will ever know once I know that you are a part of my pack.  I am trusting and enjoy a cuddle once in a while.  I will look for you and want to be with you always.  Trusting - Once you belong to me, I am yours forever.   I am a great sleeper and love my meals.  I enjoy riding in cars.   I enjoy long walks when the weather is not too hot.  I think I would enjoy hiking a lot.     Things I am working on:  Commands - Perfecting my 8 safety commands.  Trusting new things - The more places I go and the more you can let me watch from a distance, the more I can trust new places.  Trusting new people - I need slow introductions with new people who are confident and want to have a relationship.  I am not interested in casual interactions.  I will do best if I know what you expect of me in these situations but I would prefer not to be pushed or 'talked into' socializing.     I will do better with no children or other pets in the home, as I have a hard time sharing the affection.  I was not proofed with cats so I don't know how I feel about them.     General Mastiff traits -  Mastiffs are known for their gentle, calm, and loyal personalities, making them excellent family pets. They are also protective and courageous, exhibiting a natural instinct to guard their families and homes. Despite their imposing size, Mastiffs are often described as 'gentle giants' due to their affectionate and patient nature.    Here's a more detailed look at their personality traits: Loyal and Devoted: Mastiffs form strong bonds with their families and are known for their unwavering loyalty.    Gentle and Affectionate: They are naturally gentle and affectionate, especially with their family members, and enjoy cuddling and close companionship.    Calm and Patient: Mastiffs are generally calm and patient, making them suitable for households with children and other pets, though early socialization and training are still important.    Protective and Courageous: They possess a natural instinct to protect their families and territory, making them excellent watchdogs.    Intelligent and Eager to Please: Mastiffs are intelligent dogs that learn quickly and respond well to positive reinforcement training methods.    Relatively Quiet: While they can be alert and watchful, they are not typically known for excessive barking.    Can be Suspicious of Strangers: It's common for Mastiffs to be wary of strangers, but with proper socialization, they can learn to be more accepting.    If you are interested in Bear, please fill out an application at: https://reachoutrescue.rescuegroups.org/forms/form?formid=4588    Or contact: rorrcanine@gmail.com   *** Click here to sponsor this dog! ***Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.December 6, 2025, 10:18 pm

Story
Clover is a bright, silly, curious, & affectionate young Mastiff who has blossomed beautifully in foster care w/me. When she arrived, she didn’t understand toys, play, or how to simply be a dog. She flinched at every movement, yet her bubbly personality & gentle nature still shone through. Within weeks, she became a happy girl who loves fetch, learns quickly, & bonds deeply w/people she trusts. She does a happy dance when she sees her people or senses an upcoming walk. She is excellent on a leash & has strong recall. She came into my home 5 mths ago as a foster w/her companion Ginger after being removed from a home by Animal Control. I adopted them both, but a planned adoption fell through, & I am now struggling to meet their needs financially & timewise. This decision is especially painful after losing a beloved dog in June. Clover is highly responsive to training & eager to please. As a guardian breed, she can be protective but is an absolute sweetheart who deserves the perfect home

Story
Ginger is a gentle Mastiff who came to me from the shelter after being removed from a home by Animal Control. When she arrived, she was scared, shut down, & unsure of the world. With patience & kindness, she has blossomed into a snuggly, affectionate companion who wants nothing more than a safe, steady home & a trusted human to bond with. She is goofy, playful, & occasionally “talks back.” She communicates her needs well, although she can be a bit stubborn. Ginger shows many Boerboel traits, although her exact breed is unknown. She is excellent on a leash & has great recall. She was originally fostered with her companion Clover, & I ultimately adopted them both. Unfortunately, a planned adoption fell through, and I am now struggling to meet Ginger’s needs financially and time-wise. This decision is especially hard after losing a beloved dog in June. Though still cautious with new people—esp men—Ginger has an incredible capacity for deep connection. She is truly a diamond in the rough.

Story
Legolass is a 5-year-old, 65-pound Mastiff who happens to be the first dog you see when you walk into the adoption room. With the shelter at capacity, kennels are full, and his spot puts him right in the middle of constant foot traffic. It’s a busy, noisy place with people and dogs coming and going all day, which can make Legolass seem a bit barky in his kennel.Step into the interaction room with him, though, and you’ll meet a very different Legolass. He’s calm, slightly shy, and seems incredibly sweet. He knows how to sit, takes treats gently, and with a little sweet talk, his tail starts wagging and he starts giving kisses.Sometimes the first dog you see gets overlooked. Take a chance on meeting Legolass and you just might find your perfect match.

Story
Hello! This is Kori. She is 5 yrs old. An sweet energetic girl. She loves people and is also very affectionate. Kori came to me as a boarding and daycare client however her previous owners went through some life changes and couldnt keep her. They were considering giving her to the shelter however I didn't think she would do well in that environment. She does get nervous in new noisy places so i decided to foster. I run a boarding business so shes been around all size dogs. She does well with male dogs. Other females take some warming up to but in time she's ready to play. She has been around small children via her previous home and loves children. She does know the basics (Sit, Stay, Down etc.) She is house and crate trained as well. She is an free adoption. She is coming with everything needed (Beds, Crate, food). I am also offering to help pay 50% towards training to help her transition into her new home. Kori is such a good dog. She would make a great addition to the family.

Story
PLUTO – A Gentle Giant Who’s Learning What Love Feels Like   Pluto’s story is one of quiet strength, resilience, and hope. When he was first found, Pluto’s body told a heartbreaking story—thin, weak, and covered in the marks of neglect, he had clearly been struggling to survive for far too long. Yet even in his frailest moments, his eyes showed nothing but kindness and a longing to trust again.   With time, care, and steady meals, Pluto has begun to heal. His once fragile frame is filling out, his coat is regaining its shine, and his spirit is blossoming. Today, Pluto is discovering the joy of simple things—soft bedding, full bowls, gentle voices, and the company of people who see him for the beautiful soul he is.   Pluto is a large, calm, and affectionate boy. He moves with quiet confidence and has a gentle presence that draws you in. He gets along well with other dogs, especially those who are respectful and laid-back like he is. He’s not demanding; instead, he enjoys just being near his people, resting his head close by, or soaking up a few moments of peace in the sun.   After everything he’s been through, Pluto deserves a home that will offer him consistency, kindness, and the unconditional love he has always given in return. He is a living reminder that even after hardship, trust and joy can return with patience and care.   Pluto is neutered, microchipped, and up to date on vaccines and preventatives. He will be fully vetted prior to adoption.   Location: Texas (available for transport) Adoption Fee: $350 plus health certificate and transport (if out of state – varies by location) Adoption Process: The adoption contract and fee are finalized prior to transport. All Pep’s Pals Rescue adoptions include a virtual interview and video meet-and-greet.   Pluto is ready to leave his past behind and finally experience the comfort of a loving forever home. Could that be you?   Apply at pepspalsrescue.org/adopt   ##2541025##
