You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. If interested in any of our animals for adoption, or to foster an animal, please fill out the respective application here to get the process started. Visit our FAQ webpage for commonly asked questions about our adoption/foster process. Meet the magnificent Miss Hetti. She is a playful, energy abundant Mastiff, and likely, boxer mix. She loves tummy rubs, fetch, and Benebone chew toys. Hetti thrives on multiple walks per day however can over heat quickly in higher temps. She is very strong and still learning manners with passing animals so an experienced handler and dog owner is a must. She loves greeting people but due to her size and still puppy behaviors, a house with kids over 12 is preferred. For Hetti to live her best life she should be a solo canine with a large fenced yard and an active owner willing to give her the exercise and attention she needs.  Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.Last Day Dog Rescue now microchips all animals before adoption. Microchips are implanted between the animals shoulder blades and are a permanent form of identification. If the animal is ever lost and slips his/her collar/tags the microchip allows the finder to know who to contact if scanned for a microchip. Animals MUST still have a collar with tags on at all times. Per our contract, we take all our animals back if for any reason you can't keep your adopted animal. Please understand the statements about this animal are based upon the foster home's evaluation of the animal. The animal might behave differently (negatively or positively) in your home. While the animal might be good with the current foster’s dogs, cats, children, etc., it may not be with your animal(s) or children. The animal may be housebroken or litter trained in the home of the foster but may relapse in your home. The animal is represented to the public as it performs in the foster home and any statements made regarding the animal are conditional to that foster home setting. Please understand that statements made regarding this animal are simply overviews and are not guaranteed. The Petfinder.com system requires that we choose a predominant breed or breed mix for our animals. Visual breed identification in animals is unreliable so for most of the animals we are only guessing at predominant breed or breed mix. We get to know each animal as an individual and will do our best to describe each of our animals based on personality, not by breed label. Thank you for looking through our list of animals needing forever homes and choosing rescue first. We appreciate you stopping by. March 7, 2026, 8:41 am

***Brody is in a foster home, so he is not at the kennel. If you are interested in him, please fill out an application at K9stray.com and we will be in touch. Thank you.*** Brody and his deep loving eyes... He is estimated to be about 7 months old and weighs 34 pounds right now, but he is sure to get much bigger! Meet Brody, a sweet pup with a sensitive, special soul, hoping to find his forever family. He's just a baby with cutest giant paws, so he's going to be a big boy! He is affectionate and very connecting, but mostly only with women right now. Unfortunately, he is quite scared of men, we are working on this with him, but Brody is seeking a dedicated leader to rely on and guide him through his insecurities and help him build confidence. Brody has had a challenging start, struggling with a fear of men due to past trauma. He absolutely needs an experienced adopter who can commit time upfront to help him overcome these fears and navigate the world with confidence. He is very food motivated, so this is a great tool to use to build trust with him. This sweet boy has so much love to give and with him still finding his paws in the world, he's looking for a family where any children are at least 13 years old, who can offer him patience, love, and the time he needs to blossom. He would love it if you came to meet him, he can't wait for his family to find him. f you are interested in Brody and are at least 21 years old, please come to our kennel during business hours, make an appointment, or fill out an application at k9stray.com and an adoption counselor will be in touch. We look forward to helping you find your new best friend! *Please check your lease agreements for breed/weight restrictions prior to applying. We also do not do cat testing, so we do not know how a dog will do with cats. Not all dogs are available to go home on the same day you first meet.*

You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Meet Bubs Born on January 21, 2026, Bubs is an adorable mastiff mix puppy with a whole lot of growing (and cuddling) ahead of him. With his cute black mask and big, clumsy paws, he may have some Cane Corso or Bullmastiff in the mix—but right now, he’s all puppy energy and sweetness. Bubs is incredibly affectionate and loves being close to his people. He’s the kind of pup who will happily follow you around, flop over for belly rubs, and then bounce right back up for playtime. Curious and gentle, he’s still figuring out the world one sniff (and probably one chew) at a time. Like any young pup, he’s learning his manners and building confidence every day. With a little guidance and a lot of love, Bubs is going to grow into a wonderful, loyal companion. For now, he’s just a big baby with a soft heart and an even softer spot for cuddles.Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.May 27, 2026, 7:21 pm

Story
Meet Maisy! Maisy is a 5-year-old Mastiff mix with a heart as big as her paws! She came to us as a stray from Sumpter, severely underweight and clearly having been through a lot. But oh, how far she's come! With time, love, and plenty of good meals, Maisy has transformed into a healthy, happy pup who's ready for her forever home. Despite her tough start, Maisy's outlook on life is nothing short of amazing. She's always wiggly with excitement to see people and has never met a stranger-she's as friendly and affectionate as they come. Her favorite things? Stuffy toys (even if they only last a few minutes), snacks (she's very food motivated), and simply hanging out with her humans. Maisy is still learning the ropes of home life, including potty training and basic manners, but her eagerness to please and strong bond with her people make her a great student. She's mellow by nature and prefers relaxed exploration in the yard over high-energy activities. While she hasn't quite figured out how to "play" just yet, we can tell she's curious and interested-and with time, she might just become a pro! She's currently unsure around other dogs but has done fine in calm playgroups, mostly keeping to herself. If you already have a dog at home, we're still happy to consider a meet-and-greet to see how they might get along. As for cats-we're not sure yet. Maisy would do best in a moderately active home, possibly with older kids and maybe a laid-back dog sibling. Most importantly, she needs a patient and loving family who can help her continue her journey from survivor to spoiled companion. If you're looking for a sweet, soulful, easygoing girl to share your heart and home with-Maisy might just be your perfect match. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- If you would like to meet Maisy, please submit an application for her on our website https://www.friendsofmichigan.org/adoptable-dogs. She is spayed, up to date on all age appropriate vaccines, microchipped, and on monthly flea & tick prevention. Maisy is currently heartworm positive, and has begun her treatment as of 5/8/25. FMAR covers the full cost of heartworm treatment and works with Home Care Veterinary Services for the treatment. You're still encouraged to apply to adopt Maisy! We'll work closely with you to ensure her treatment continues smoothly and she gets everything she needs to thrive in her new home. Her treatment after adoption would continue through HCVS until successfully completed. Her adoption fee is $250, which helps cover the cost of the medical care she has received. **Please note that the breed listed for each of our dogs is a rough estimate unless DNA results are provided in their Bio. All strays have rough estimates of their age based on the condition of their teeth. Each dog is different, so each adoption is different. Our adoption process might require multiple visits to the shelter before our dogs can go home. Or they may be ready on the first visit. It really depends on the individual dog and the potential adopters. Once we receive your application, the Dog Staff will contact you to discuss meeting our dogs.
