Story
Hiya! My name is Rocco! I am a fun loving and super sweet dog looking for my forever home! I love almost everyone I meet, including other animals! Despite my love for everyone, I can sometimes be a bit too excited making me not a perfect fit for some households. I will need a home without kids under 12, and possibly without cats due to my overexcitement. I will need an adopter who is comfortable with big dogs like me, and comfortable helping me learn some manners. I will be a great dog for anyone looking for a big teddy bear with a heart of gold! I love to play and run around, but mostly I love being around people who love me, and I would love to add you to that list!

You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. If interested in any of our animals for adoption, or to foster an animal, please fill out the respective application here to get the process started. Visit our FAQ webpage for commonly asked questions about our adoption/foster process. Meet the magnificent Miss Hetti. She is a playful, energy abundant Mastiff, and likely, boxer mix. She loves tummy rubs, fetch, and Benebone chew toys. Hetti thrives on multiple walks per day however can over heat quickly in higher temps. She is very strong and still learning manners with passing animals so an experienced handler and dog owner is a must. She loves greeting people but due to her size and still puppy behaviors, a house with kids over 12 is preferred. For Hetti to live her best life she should be a solo canine with a large fenced yard and an active owner willing to give her the exercise and attention she needs.  Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.Last Day Dog Rescue now microchips all animals before adoption. Microchips are implanted between the animals shoulder blades and are a permanent form of identification. If the animal is ever lost and slips his/her collar/tags the microchip allows the finder to know who to contact if scanned for a microchip. Animals MUST still have a collar with tags on at all times. Per our contract, we take all our animals back if for any reason you can't keep your adopted animal. Please understand the statements about this animal are based upon the foster home's evaluation of the animal. The animal might behave differently (negatively or positively) in your home. While the animal might be good with the current foster’s dogs, cats, children, etc., it may not be with your animal(s) or children. The animal may be housebroken or litter trained in the home of the foster but may relapse in your home. The animal is represented to the public as it performs in the foster home and any statements made regarding the animal are conditional to that foster home setting. Please understand that statements made regarding this animal are simply overviews and are not guaranteed. The Petfinder.com system requires that we choose a predominant breed or breed mix for our animals. Visual breed identification in animals is unreliable so for most of the animals we are only guessing at predominant breed or breed mix. We get to know each animal as an individual and will do our best to describe each of our animals based on personality, not by breed label. Thank you for looking through our list of animals needing forever homes and choosing rescue first. We appreciate you stopping by. December 5, 2025, 8:44 pm

You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Meet Daisy 7–8 Month Old Mastiff Mix | Playful, Sweet, and Ready to Bloom Looking for a goofy, loving sidekick who’s equal parts cuddlebug and adventure buddy? Meet Daisy—a young Mastiff mix (maybe with a little Cane Corso and Southern hunting dog in her roots) who’s as fun as she is unique. Daisy came to us after her previous owner made the heartbreaking decision to surrender her in order to care for a family member battling stage 4 cancer. While she may have lost her first home, Daisy hasn’t lost her joy—this girl is all wagging tails, play bows, and puppy kisses. She’s a petite powerhouse for a Mastiff mix, but don’t let her size fool you—Daisy is full of energy, love, and personality. She’s already shown how great she is with kids and had a blast playing with a large male dog. Her perfect match? A home with another playful pup or an active human who’s ready to run, romp, and laugh along with her. Still in her puppy phase, Daisy is eager to learn, bond, and bring light to the lucky family who gives her a forever home. Good with kids Dog-friendly (especially with playful, large companions!) Young, active, and tons of fun This sweet girl is ready to put down roots. Could you be the sunshine in Daisy’s next chapter?Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.July 14, 2025, 8:48 pm

Story
Meet Maisy! Maisy is a 5-year-old Mastiff mix with a heart as big as her paws! She came to us as a stray from Sumpter, severely underweight and clearly having been through a lot. But oh, how far she's come! With time, love, and plenty of good meals, Maisy has transformed into a healthy, happy pup who's ready for her forever home. Despite her tough start, Maisy's outlook on life is nothing short of amazing. She's always wiggly with excitement to see people and has never met a stranger-she's as friendly and affectionate as they come. Her favorite things? Stuffy toys (even if they only last a few minutes), snacks (she's very food motivated), and simply hanging out with her humans. Maisy is still learning the ropes of home life, including potty training and basic manners, but her eagerness to please and strong bond with her people make her a great student. She's mellow by nature and prefers relaxed exploration in the yard over high-energy activities. While she hasn't quite figured out how to "play" just yet, we can tell she's curious and interested-and with time, she might just become a pro! She's currently unsure around other dogs but has done fine in calm playgroups, mostly keeping to herself. If you already have a dog at home, we're still happy to consider a meet-and-greet to see how they might get along. As for cats-we're not sure yet. Maisy would do best in a moderately active home, possibly with older kids and maybe a laid-back dog sibling. Most importantly, she needs a patient and loving family who can help her continue her journey from survivor to spoiled companion. If you're looking for a sweet, soulful, easygoing girl to share your heart and home with-Maisy might just be your perfect match. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- If you would like to meet Maisy, please submit an application for her on our website https://www.friendsofmichigan.org/adoptable-dogs. She is spayed, up to date on all age appropriate vaccines, microchipped, and on monthly flea & tick prevention. Maisy is currently heartworm positive, and has begun her treatment as of 5/8/25. FMAR covers the full cost of heartworm treatment and works with Home Care Veterinary Services for the treatment. You're still encouraged to apply to adopt Maisy! We'll work closely with you to ensure her treatment continues smoothly and she gets everything she needs to thrive in her new home. Her treatment after adoption would continue through HCVS until successfully completed. Her adoption fee is $250, which helps cover the cost of the medical care she has received. **Please note that the breed listed for each of our dogs is a rough estimate unless DNA results are provided in their Bio. All strays have rough estimates of their age based on the condition of their teeth. Each dog is different, so each adoption is different. Our adoption process might require multiple visits to the shelter before our dogs can go home. Or they may be ready on the first visit. It really depends on the individual dog and the potential adopters. Once we receive your application, the Dog Staff will contact you to discuss meeting our dogs.

Story
Shyla Marie is 3 years old. She's a fantastic companion and best friend! She is excellent with our two cats and our grandson, who also lives with us. Shyla loves to lounge and chill or all out wrestle and run around . The major drawback is that she is a fence hopper and front door runner, and after two years of working in it, we can no longer make it work, having the baby here and trying to chase her. We live in a duplex on a main road with a large number of pedestrians walking by, which makes it difficult for her to stay here for long. It would be good to have tall fences or a privacy fence.

Story
Make sure you let us know you saw Truman on Adopt-a-pet. Truman, so many things to describe you; goof, marshmallow, strongminded, friendly, playful, larger than life personality, "Mikey" that eats everything, stubborn to a fault at times, water lover, lap pup, small dog in a big dog body...and the list goes on. We love learning more as you become healthier and more comfortable. Potential adopters for Truman need BIG dog experience, he needs a firm person, or things will get out of hand, he likes to see how far he can push things. With Truman's size, the human needs to be in control. No small children, 16+ Truman has shown to be very playful and may be too much for some dogs. He comes out of the gate ready to roll. Future training will be beneficial for Truman and his adopter.
