Story
George is a 173 pound 4.5 year old English Mastiff who is a very sweet boy with his people. He is happiest on a couch or bed watching tv or just chilling, and loves laying/sitting where he can see outside. He likes women and kids, but is a little slower to warm up to men. His favorite chew toy is a deer antler and he does great in the house if you leave him out. He is not destructive other than the occasional stuffed animal. George takes prozac (licking behavior) and apoquel (itching) daily. He takes his meds like a champ in a pill pocket or with peanut butter. He would do best in a home with big dog experience as an only dog. A fenced yard would be ideal, although he is not overly active, but has some small prey drive. He attended  a 3 week training program and is pretty good on a leash.  All of our dogs are spayed or neutered, up to date on age appropriate vaccinations, microchipped and if over 6 months of age, heartworm tested and on heartworm preventative in their foster home. We require an approved application to meet any of our dogs. We do not have a shelter location and will not arrange a meeting without an approved application. We strive to make sure the bios provided for our dogs are complete and accurate; we do understand that mistakes happen, however, so if you absolutely cannot find the answer to your question in the dog's bio, you can contact us for more information. We require a home visit for each dog we adopt out, so we adopt within a 2 hour radius of Dayton, OH. If you are outside of this radius, we encourage you to contact your local rescue or shelter.   July 23, 2024, 10:41 pm

Story
Meet Zay! She’s a 1.5 year old mastiff mix with the squishiest face ever (she’s also the aster of RBF). Zay came to us completely shut down, defeated, in a constant state of fear. After lots of confidence training, she has come out of her shell and absolutely loves to play with dogs, totally ignores cats and even enjoys taking treats and pets from humans. Zay is potty trained, crate trained and has been through several weeks of obedience training in addition to confidence building. She’ll come with training for her new family and the tools that have helped her “dog”. Zay would do best in a home with a social dog to tag along with. Story
PLEASE READ ENTIRE PROFILE BEFORE APPLYING.Olga is a 182lb, 5 year old English Mastiff, and like all mastiffs she is a giant, lazy baby! Unfortunately though, Olga has been let down in life and has some trust issues because of it. She was abandoned by her old owner, and ended up in the shelter. Whatever happened in her life before, it caused her to not trust a lot of people, especially men, and young ones who may not be well-versed in a dog's body language. For this reason we are only going to adopt her to a home without men, unless they have professional experience with dog training or behavior. She is extremely loving and affectionate with women she trusts, it just might take a few meetings. If she doesn't like you, just give it time, and work with her. She's not mean, just uncertain, and will react accordingly. She is currently on Prozac for her anxiety. Due to her history she needs a good amount of structure and personal time to solidify the dog-owner bond. Because of this, it would be best that Olga goes to a quiet home of only one or two adults, preferably someone with experience owning very large dogs. Good news though - Olga is fine with most other animals!! Of course if you have a dog a meet-and-greet will be required, but she's lived with dogs before and had no issues. If you give her a chance you won't be disappointed: she really is a sweet and gentle giant. She loves to sniff around the yard and scratch her back in the grass, and she is very gentle taking treats. She'll lean on you for ear rubs and neck scratches, and she likes to give slobbery kisses! So, won't you give Olgie a chance? To adopt one of our animals, please visit our shelter, open Tuesday-Friday from Noon-6pm and Saturday from Noon-4pm.
