Meet Penny! Penny is a mini poodle mix who is looking for her loving forever home. She was surrendered by her previous owners to Husky House and seems to have unfortunately been mistreated by the children she used to live with. As such, Penny would do best in an adult only home. Hi… I’m Toby, a two-ish year old poodle who’s trying really hard to figure out this whole “new life” thing. My previous owner loved me but couldn’t care for me anymore, so now I’m here, a little confused and a little nervous, trying to understand what comes next.I’ll be honest — I’m a sensitive guy. I warm up slowly, and I definitely feel safer around women. When I’m scared or cornered, I don’t really know what to do except growl or even try to bite. I’m not proud of it… it’s just the only way I know to say “please go slow with me.” Because of this, I really can’t go to a home with kids under 12 — I need an environment where people understand boundaries and won’t rush me.But once I trust you? I soften right up. I want to be someone’s little shadow, someone’s project, someone’s “I knew he’d come around.” I just need a patient person who gets that nervous dogs aren’t bad dogs — we’ve just had lives that taught us to be careful.If you’re gentle, calm, and willing to let me open up at my own pace, I promise I can be a really sweet companion. I’m not perfect… but I’m trying hard, and I hope someone out there can see the good boy I’m working to become.Toby is neutered, dewormed, microchipped and is up to date with vaccines. His adoption fee is $500.00, plus $8.50 for the dog license if you are a resident of NYC. Linney's days as a breeding dog are over and she can't wait to become the diva she was meant to be! At just six years old and six pounds she is learning what it's like to be a family companion and has no trust issues. She is initially shy but does very well with men, women and kids (no toddlers please, because of her size). Linney has not been housetrained since her only job was to produce puppies, so we have to give her some slack in that area. She uses a peewee pad but often misses her mark. If she is to relieve herself outside she will require a small fenced area. She does not need much exercise and is perfectly fine as an indoor dog. Linney freezes while on a leash so that's another reason why a small fenced area will work best for her. Linney's ideal home is one where someone is home most of the day, a small fenced area if she is to be outside, and lots of patience. She is well worth it. We would like a home near the New Jersey shore. Linney is spayed, up to date with vaccines, and has had a full dental.
