Story
Dixie is SUCH a sweet and loving girl. She would love a family with a big yard in which to play and a couch so she can snuggle with you. She gives wonderful hugs. Dixie was born about Sept 2024 and is a 32 pound love puppy (though fully grown). We don’t know her breed… mountain cur, some small bully? We do know she is affectionate and intelligent. She is fully vetted, spayed and microchipped. She has one problem and we DO have the solution. Dixie has a condition called Diabetes Insipidus. This is probably NOT the diabetes you are familiar with. She does not need insulin shots but she does require a twice daily pill; Desmopressin. The rescue will reimburse the adopter for her medication monthly and for her required checkups for her lifetime. She does require a secure above ground, fenced yard as she was found loose and lost once. Please use our adoption application form found at https://www.jackrusselladoptions.org/adopt-a-dog/

Story
BellaMountain CurFemaleDOB: 7/1/23Adoption Fee: $200Bella is a sweet, happy girl who's a little more outgoing than her brother Brody, but she still takes a moment to warm up to new people. Once she knows you're a friend, her joyful personality shines through- she loves to play, explore, and share her cheerful energy with those she trusts. She does do well with most other dogs and would enjoy a canine companion who matches her friendly but laid back vibe. Bella would thrive in a calm home without loud or small children, a place where she could feel safe and loved. A fenced yard is preferred for her to be able to safely romp and burn off her playful energy. This amazing girl will fill your days with quiet happiness and tail wags, so please come meet her today! Please read the animal bios completely before requesting additional information as we do our best to answer the most frequently ask questions in these bios. In order to adopt one of our animals an application must be submitted and approved. Many adult dogs do arrive “house broken” however due to animal behavior any change in environment will make an emotional impact on the animals and therefore initiate unwanted behaviors during the acclamation period. Please consider the time and commitment it takes to provide the necessary building blocks for these special babies, prior to submitting your application. If you have any questions please email us at info@humanemorgan.org and provide name of the animal you are interested in, in the subject line. Story
Meet Gracie Beautiful Gracie. What trauma and abuse did she endure until she and her sister came into our shelter? These two young pups were so shut down when they arrived. They would barely get off the ground, they shook in fear and hid behind each other hoping not to be noticed. We noticed them and we’ve been working hard to build their trust and confidence. Leah has since been adopted and is thriving in her new home. Gracie is ready to find her forever home. Gracie is a beautiful hound mix. She is 2.4 years old. She has a pretty, tan colored coat with white. Her eyes still show her uncertainty, but she’s trying hard to be brave. She is medium in size, weighing about 40 lbs. One special volunteer has worked miracles, getting Gracie into the yard where she loves the sunshine and rolling in the grass. Gracie wants nothing more than to belong and to feel wanted and safe. She follows this volunteer around and shows what a great dog she is. Gracie is incredibly sweet. She has never ever been aggressive in her fear. She is so gentle and very submissive, but she has found her voice lol! Gracie is learning to walk on a leash. She’ll do best with a fenced yard so she can be outside safely. She might enjoy another dog in the home to give her confidence and show her the way. A home environment would do wonders for Gracie. Gracie would do best in a family with older kids or a person who works from home. A quiet home with infinite patience and kindness to help her continue her journey of overcoming her past. She will bond hard and be the dog of a lifetime. She is such a gem. If interested in welcoming Gracie to your heart and home, please submit an application online at: www.charlessmithgallhumanesociety.org. Please email our shelter (smithgallhumanesociety@windstream.net) to make sure we received your application. All adopters must complete an approval process which involves a reference check with current/recent vet and a brief home visit if located in the immediate area. We do permit out-of-state adoptions. Adopters MUST come to the shelter to transport their new family member home. We do not ship, nor do we transport them to their new homes. Adoption policies and application procedures are detailed at the shelter website: http://charlessmithgallhumanesociety.org/ under tab All Adoptable Animals. Charles Smithgall Humane Society (CSHS) is a No kill shelter. Animals in our care remain safe with us until adopted. Resident animals are either owner relinquished rescued from area Animal Controls or high kill shelters. The facility usually operates at capacity with a list of animals waiting for space to open.

Story
Meet Jake Jake is pretty perfect! He's a handsome young mountain cur / retriever mix. Jake LOVES people. He is happiest when he can be with them. His eyes shine and he smiles. His body gets all wiggly in anticipation of pets or a game of fetch. This little guy is incredibly sweet and affectionate. Jake has a beautiful soft rust colored coat. He’s a medium size dog, currently weighing 50 pounds. He walks well on a leash. He can get spooked though and needs a mindful and strong (ish) person who can hold the leash if he gets frightened. He loves playing in the yards and a containment fence is a must. He loves retrieving a tennis ball and would play all day if he could. He is energetic and is eager to be out and about hiking, walking, running or riding in a car. He has a calm and mindful demeanor. He is a super smart. He knows some basic commands. Jake is house-trained and will go to the door when he needs to go out. Jake is looking for his special person or family to bond with. This young handsome doggo is amazing and deserves a second chance at a loving life. Jake will thrive in a home environment. The quiet and consistency of a real home will do wonders for him. Jake was non-reactive to a neighbor's dog when in foster. A meet and greet will be a must if there are other dogs int he home. He likes cats! If interested in Jake, please submit a dog application online at www.charlessmithgallhumanesociety.org Please email us at smithgallhumanesociety@windstream.net to let us know if you submitted an application.. Story
Meet beautiful Diamond! Sadly, she was surrendered to the shelter on 5/28 because her family is moving and could not take her along. Her former family did note that Diamond is house-trained, good with children, and good with other dogs! The volunteers remember Diamond from when she was just a puppy before she was adopted, so it’s especially heartbreaking to see her back at the shelter. Diamond is a loving, playful, curious, and intelligent girl who is ready to find a forever family to love her for life. She already knows several commands, including sit, down, and stay, and she enjoys learning and spending time with her people. If you’re looking for a fun companion to join you on walks, adventures, and cozy time at home, Diamond would love to be your new best friend! Diamond is approximately 11 months old, and weighs 47 lbs. She is UTD on vaccines, has been spayed and microchipped, and did test negative for heartworms. Please come meet Diamond in kennel 48; her ID # is 16559. Note - all the listings on Friends of Shelter Animals for Cobb are done by volunteers. If this cat or dog came in as a lost animal, we do not know how they might be with children, other pets, or if house trained. You can bring your pet to the shelter for a meet & greet with your potential new best friend. When inquiring about a cat or dog, please use THE ID NUMBER. This pet is available for adoption from Cobb County Animal Services, 1060 Al Bishop Dr. Marietta, GA 30008, (770) 499-4136. Shelter hours: Tues. - Sun. 10:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., closed Mondays & Holidays. The adoption includes shots, altering, a heartworm or combo test and a microchip.
