Story
Are you shy? Do you have a past? Well, so does Jim. He came to us from a not so nice person. He was shut down and terrified of everything. Now after some work and confidence building he is learning to trust and to love again. Jim is a special guy who just needs patience to make you a friend. He loves other dogs but not so much cats. He is great with women after you've earned his trust. Men are harder for him unfortunately but if you're willing to be patient then maybe you could take a chance on this handsome guy. Once you earn his trust he is the most amazing, loving, kind, silly boy you'd meet! If you're anything like him and have a past you know just how hard it is to gain your trust but when people do you're the best thing in the world. Could he build trust with you? If Jim seems like the perfect boy to take a chance on, please apply on the MACS website!July 25, 2024, 5:25 pm

Please call the shelter at (706) 795-2868 to schedule a meet and greet.Madison Oglethorpe Animal Shelter is a non-profit shelter serving over 720 square miles. We are open intake, meaning we can not turn away animals from either county we serve. Our shelter intakes double or triple it's capacity every month so it is essential we place animals quickly into adoptive homes. Since so many animals enter the shelter we often don't have enough volunteers to write an individual bio for each. Please feel free to call the shelter Wednesday-Sunday to inquire about the animal you are interested in. 706-795-2868.Viewing and adoption hours at our shelter are Wednesday through Sunday from 12 PM to 5 PM. Story
Cayenne is a 3.5-year-old female Catahoula. She was bred at Don Abney’s Kennel. We picked her up in Abita Springs LA when she was 9 weeks old. She is smart/sweet/loyal/protective. She is not getting along with the other dogs in our pack and we need to find her a new home without other dogs. She gets along fine with kids/people and dogs outside of her pack. She does suffer from dry eye syndrome and requires drops three times a day. She needs a home where she can get plenty of exercise/work. She is trained in basic commands and is a quick learner. She also enjoys riding in cars/trucks and playing ball.

Story
Background/Summary: Caramel Frappe is a very sweet, happy, and somewhat timid young pup. This handsome boy is even more striking in person, and his fur is incredibly soft! It seems he missed out on some early training and socialization, making many experiences feel new and a bit overwhelming for him. Despite this, Caramel Frappe has shown a strong eagerness to learn and adapt quickly to new training. Personality and Behavior: He is a happy and energetic pup who loves being around people. He's been known to jump on people and counters, seeking face licks and ear nuzzles with great enthusiasm. Although he can be a bit mouthy during snuggles, he quickly adapts when shown alternate behaviors. Caramel Frappe did not grab clothes, hands, or his leash, and he's very quick to learn new commands and routines. Training and Learning: -Calm Settle: Mastered quickly, showing his potential to adapt and learn fast. -Sit: Quite good at sitting on command. -Alternate Behaviors: Started approaching with all four feet on the ground and laying on a mat or rug. -Touch: Practiced and did well, although he occasionally used his tongue. -Chewing: Opted for dog toys over household items, indicating good potential for continued positive behavior. -Leash Walking: New to leash walking but does not pull hard and checks in occasionally. -House Training: Initially struggled but showed significant improvement with consistent training, indicating he will get it in no time. -Independent Play: Enjoys playing with toys independently and creating little games for himself. -Snuggling/Sleeping: Loves snuggling and improved on being mouthy with some guidance. Sleeps well through the night and takes to crate training positively. Outings and Socialization: Caramel Frappe is still getting used to walks and new surroundings. He can be a bit shy and nervous in new situations but improves with gentle coaxing and exposure. During walks, he pauses often to observe his environment and may bark at unusual sights or sounds but shows improvement with each outing. His interactions with other dogs have been mostly positive, showing curiosity and interest without aggressive behaviors. Ideal Home: He would thrive in a home where he can continue to learn and grow with consistent training and exposure to new experiences. A fenced yard would be ideal for him to play safely. He would benefit from a family that can provide him with lots of love, patience, and opportunities for socialization and play. With his eagerness to learn and affectionate nature, Caramel Frappe is sure to become a beloved member of any family. If you're looking for a playful, loving, and smart pup to join your family, Caramel Frappe might be the perfect match for you! Put in an application today to meet him and see for yourself how special he is!
