Story
Bob is a 5-year-old mountain cur mix with a gentle soul and a big heart—especially when it comes to other dogs. He truly thrives with canine companionship and will do best in a home with at least one resident dog to help him feel confident and complete. Bob’s journey to safety is one that tugs at the heart. He was traveling on a transport van carrying dogs and cats to the safety of an IL rescue during a recent winter storm when the unthinkable happened. The van hit a patch of ice, slid off the road, and was totaled. During the accident, Bob’s crate was tossed and opened. Terrified and disoriented, Bob ran. For days, dedicated volunteers searched for him through snow and bitter cold, refusing to give up hope. Finally, with patience, kindness, and perseverance, they were able to gently coax Bob back into a crate and bring him to safety. Remarkably, all volunteers and animals involved in the accident escaped unharmed—a true testament to both luck and teamwork. Today, Bob is warm, safe, and soaking up love in his foster home. He’s learning that the world can be kind and that good things—like soft beds, full bellies, and friendly dogs—are here to stay. Bob loves other dogs and takes comfort in their presence, making him an ideal companion for a multi-dog household. Bob is now ready for the final chapter of his journey: a forever home where he’ll never have to be scared or alone again. If you’re looking for a loyal companion with a resilient spirit and a heart full of gratitude, Bob may be the one you’ve been waiting for   If you are interested in adopting/meeting this pup , please complete our online adoption application that you can find here: https://www.starfishanimalrescue.com/adopt/dog-adoption-application  . Story
Kevin is a very friendly, gentle, and affectionate 5 year-old pointer/lab mix who loves nothing more than to cuddle! He is very well-behaved at home, but due to his breed, requires a good amount of daily exercise, whether through multiple long walks or a trip to the dog park or beach! He would really benefit from a home with a yard, access to a park, and/or some active children to play with! He is good with humans of all ages, as well as other dogs, but has never been socialized with cats, so watch out kitties! Kevin has a suspected chicken allergy, so his diet has been changed accordingly. He has had many experiences with both doggie day care and boarding, but due to his sensitive nature, these situations can cause him some anxiety, so short term for both is advised. Kevin loves people most of all, and takes to new ones in his life very quickly! I am hoping to find some very special humans to adopt him into their family and give him a forever home … maybe that could be you!

Story
**SILVER HAS BEEN ADOPTED!** Pal's Place would love to introduce you to an adorable group of seven precious and perfect pups! Our adoptable "S" litter (Silver, Sapphire, Stuart, Shelby, Stanley, Sable, and Shiloh) are mixed-breed puppies seeking loving forever homes. Their appearance and characteristics suggest a family tree consisting of multiple breeds, most likely belonging to the Hound and Herding groups of dogs. We suspect Catahoula Leopard Dog, Australian Shepherd, and/or Cattledog, Coonhound, German Shepherd, and other similar breeds can be found in their ancestry. These sweethearts are about 3.5 months old (as of 6/16), weigh between 20 and 25 pounds, and are ready and anxious for families! They were rescued from an overburdened animal control facility in rural Kentucky and are now in a loving foster home in Chicago, waiting to meet their forever families. Since these little squirts were rescued from an animal control facility, we have no information about their parents' breeds or backgrounds. Their listed breed mix and estimated adult sizes are educated and informed guesses. Both parents were most likely mixed breeds, and the puppies in this litter are likely a combination of several breeds. However, we can confidently say that they are 100% puppy perfection! These puppies are a bit large for their age, and we are estimating an adult size ranging from 70 to 90 pounds. Stuart (M) is the largest, weighing in at a whopping 25 pounds. Shelby (F) is the smallest at 20 pounds. There are three females and four males in the litter. They are all very friendly, social, curious, and happy puppies and will make first-rate companions! Given their breed type, we expect them to mature into energetic and intelligent dogs that will do best with active families who can provide outlets for their very high-energy levels and intelligence. Couch potatoes they are not, and they all love to stay busy busy!! They love people and other dogs and are eager and excited to get out into the world with their new families. Puppies are CUTE and lovable, but also require a lot of patience and work as they grow up and learn about the world around them. Remember that puppies this age need frequent potty breaks (every 2-3 hours or so) and lots of playtime, training, guidance, and supervision throughout the day for the next several months. Please consider if you truly have the time and energy to raise a very young, high-energy working breed puppy before applying. Their adoption fee to the rescue is $475 per puppy. This fee helps to cover their medical expenses while in our care. They are spayed/neutered, microchipped, up-to-date with age-appropriate vaccines, and are taking monthly flea/heartworm preventatives. This litter is in a foster home and can be seen by appointment only after an application has been received and approved. For more info or an application, please email palsplace1@hotmail.com or visit our website at palsplacerescue.org. Unfortunately, we cannot place holds on our dogs for more than three days after an application has been received and approved for a meeting. Please do not apply to adopt unless you are ready to welcome a dog into your home within three days of applying. ADOPTION APPLICATIONS AND CORRESPONDENCE FROM THE RESCUE MAY END UP IN YOUR SPAM OR JUNK FOLDER. If you are waiting for our reply, please check those folders regularly. • The adoption fee for these puppies is $475. This fee helps to cover any necessary medical care to prepare them for adoption. Pal's Place relies solely on adoption fees and donations to care for the animals in our rescue. Your donation also helps save other dogs like this family from euthanasia. • Please email Palsplace1@hotmail.com for an adoption application and put the dog's name in the subject line. Please check your spam or junk folder; sometimes, the applications end up there. We are a volunteer-run organization, and we strive to respond to all inquiries within 24-48 hours. However, please be patient, as it can sometimes take longer for a reply. • All of our dogs are in foster homes and can be seen BY APPOINTMENT ONLY after an approved application has been received. For more information, please email palsplace1@hotmail.com. Email is the preferred method of contact and is the quickest way to receive a response.
