Story
This gorgeous mama and her 11 puppies were found abandoned as strays on the streets of Louisiana. Never again! Sedora is sweet as can be. She’s people friendly, dog friendly, etc. She is very loving and calm, but also loves to play. She’s beautiful on the inside and out. She is a single mom who is in the empty nest phase of life. She is looking for someone who enjoys the active lifestyle and wants to explore the world with her. She loves meeting new people and does well with both cats and dogs. Her pups may have been picked first, but she's the real pick of the litter with her sweet disposition. She's not going to hide her goofy side either. She knows someone is out there just waiting for her.

Story
FOSTERED IN: Chicago, IL 60625 ESTIMATED DOB: 04/2015 WEIGHT: 47lbs KIDS: Likely DOGS: Yes CATS: No HISTORY: Josie came to us from a rural Louisiana shelter. She came to us with Frito Pie when their owner passed away and the neighbor paid for boarding until they could find a shelter to take them. Josie was getting very depressed at the shelter. ABOUT: Josie is a very sweet and well behaved girl. She has excellent house manners and is housetrained and does not need to be crated while you are gone. She is happy to lounge on dog beds or the couch waiting for you to return. Josie has a very understated, calm personality. She is never boisterous or hyper. She is not fearful or shy, but she doesn’t run right up to visitors. She likes to take a few minutes to take them in before quietly walking over to see if they are interested in petting her. Josie has few demands of her people, but if you sit on the couch, she will hop up next to you and gently paw at you for attention, and prefers you never stop. If you ignore her for a few minutes she will walk to the other end of the couch and curl up for a nap. Josie does not bark just to hear herself or get attention, but she is good at alert barking to people lingering on the sidewalk, or walking through the alley. She will also occasionally join in if the dogs in the neighborhood are discussing something important. Josie has a fenced yard in her foster home, but she enjoys walks and is very easy to walk on leash. Josie enjoys walks and is excellent on leash. She also enjoys stuffed toys and will carry them around for a while before disemboweling them. Josie is also very stoic and although she doesn’t love things like baths and nail trims, she takes it like a champ without much protest. Josie is fostered with large and small breed dogs and is respectful and kind. She mostly keeps to herself and isn’t bothered when new fosters arrive and old fosters leave. She is very comfortable with other dogs around, but she doesn’t interact much and would very easily be just as happy as an only dog. Josie has a prey drive for rabbits and squirrels so she would not be appropriate for homes with cats or other small animals. Josie is not being fostered with children, but she has a very sweet, gentle personality. She would likely do well with calm or mature children as she wouldn’t be a huge fan of constant chaos and commotion or rough housing. Josie has completed the injections for heartworm treatment. She will need one final test to confirm it was successful in June of 2024. More information and our adoption application can be found at www.luluslockerrescue.org.

Story
Hello, my name is Scooter, and I am 6 years old. I'm one of those fancy designer dogs. I'm what you call a Morkie. Maltese/Yorkie or better yet - I'm your All-American Mutt. I was found as a stray. I don't know how I got loose from my Owners because in my foster home I am a "Velcro dog." I don't venture very far from my foster Mom or other dogs. Of course, I have a nice secure yard, so nobody is getting out and becoming a stray. That's our foster Mom's #1 job. I love to hang out with all the little dogs. There is a couple big dogs and I am ok with them. I don't really play with other dogs or toys. Maybe I just don't know how to play, or I rather watch the silly dogs chase each other for a stuffed toy. Hello? There are whole bins filled with other toys. We all can get our own. When I am not outside, I like to be in my foster Grandma's room. I lay right by her feet or in a doggie bed. I'm too short to hop in the bed but that's ok. I'm quite comfy in a doggie bed. There are cats that live here too, and I don't mind them. Shoot, they are bigger than me. I am a quiet boy. I don't bark much. Only when all the dogs are barking I of course, have to chime in. I don't know what they are barking about but I want to be part of the gang. I go outside a lot to do my business and I don't mind the cold weather. But I do have an accident or two in the house. My foster Mom calls it "marking". Maybe it's because I just got neutered. 6 years of bad habits are hard to change overnight. But as soon as my foster Mom sees me sniff around or go to lift my leg I get "outside" right away, and I know what to do. I hope one day I will have a forever family that will keep me safe and never be a stray again. Being on my own was scary for this little guy. Maybe you & I can go for walks, and I get to explore. Let me mark all the trees outside and I don't do it in the house - we hope! I sometimes get a little touchy with my paws being held or my ears. My doggie vet checked me out and there's nothing wrong with my feet/paws or ears but I did have some nasty teeth pulled. Can you believe 9 teeth?!? Can't wait to meet you! Cheers, Scooter Scooter is in our foster home in Aurora. Story
Star was rescued in Louisiana. A lady that found her called me and said that she could not find a rescue group in Louisiana to take her. She had a gunshot wound through her jaw and ear. She was in pain. She brought her to me in Mississippi, and I got her the medical treatment that she needed. She had jaw surgery, and now her tongue permanently hangs out. We think this makes her uniquely special!! I know that her tongue hanging out may be a deterrent for a permanent home, but Star is such a sweet baby. She cannot help it that somebody shot her. She is a Catahoula hound, and her tail is docked. Star is a very sweet and loves to ride in the car. She loves dogs, and she loves children. She loves to roll over for a belly rub, and she knows the sit command. She is extremely smart. She loves to load up and ride in the car, and I believe that she was somebody’s baby at one time! Also, if you live out of state we use the most animal-friendly transport on the road. Rescue Riders Pet Transport. We alternate between the Northeast and the Midwest every other weekend.
