ANNIE = SOLAR ECLIPSE ADOPTION SPECIAL THRU OCTOBER 29, 2023 - $100 Annie needs foster or adopter asap. Annie is an 1.5 yr old, 47# pound, female, Coonhound mix that came in to the shelter as a stray. She was running with another dog. Annie is a happy, playful girl that is friendly and enjoys being part of what her human is doing. She is working on her separation anxiety. She has plenty of energy, although not spastic, and is looking for an active family of her own. She experiences a little stress at first. But warms up quickly. We do want to reiterate that she was brought in with another dog, and she seemed to be fine with him. In her current foster home, she plays with the kitties and 2 of the dogs. Also, when she is out of the kennel in a play yard, she is very cuddly and happy towards people! Annie is utd on all vetting, spayed, chipped. Completely ready for her FUREVER home 💜 She would do best with older kids so she doesnt accidentally knock them down playing. Her adoption fee is $250. Story
Trixie is living in a foster home. Please submit an application from our website and/or email dogs@heartlandanimalshelter.org to learn if you are a match! Scroll through her pictures to see her cute video content! When we saw Trixie's picture posted among many others of dogs needing rescue from a rural shelter where they were in danger of euthanasia, there was something so precious about her face that stopped us in our tracks! The photo was a close-up of her sweet face and her expression was so endearing. We committed to saving Trixie, and a couple of days later met her in person when she was loaded off the transport van. We were struck by how...wide she was! Then it occurred to us why the original picture showed just her face! It was clear that Trixie was carrying puppies and was very far along! This was in mid-December, and we sprang into action to get Trixie into a foster home to deliver her babies! Trixie's amazing foster mom Heather helped her birth 6 healthy puppies on Christmas Eve, just ten days after she arrived at Heartland. Trixie was the best mom, and her puppies are now healthy and weaned. Once Trixie's pups had weaned, they moved to the shelter to await adoption, and Trixie moved to a new foster home for some much-deserved solo pampering! Trixie's current foster mom Cindie loves her companionship. She says Trixie is a perfect dog. She is housebroken, loves kids, does great with other dogs, and is trusted to be left to free roam up to 5 hours during the day and at night. One detail we love about Trixie is that she is a frisbee dog! She loves to play frisbee! Her foster mom writes, "Trixie has been the perfect house guest. She is the perfect blend of young and playful with a dash of relaxed and mellow. She can easily entertain herself with a stuffed animal by throwing it up in the air and catching it. She greets everyone with a wagging tail. Trixie loves to be outside and has been laying in the grass every chance she gets. She loves to snuggle on the couch but understands when she has to get off so humans can sit. Trixie made herself comfortable right away and was very excited to learn that we have kids in the family to play with. If you are looking for a best best friend, walking buddy or "Walmart Greeter" Trixie is your girl. She knows how to sit on command and is learning to come when called, she does respond well to training treats and seems eager to please." Trixie's adoption fee is $250. She will be spayed at a future date to be determined, is up to date on core vaccines, and Heartworm negative.

Story
This gorgeous mama and her 11 puppies were found abandoned as strays on the streets of Louisiana. Never again! Sedora is sweet as can be. She’s people friendly, dog friendly, etc. She is very loving and calm, but also loves to play. She’s beautiful on the inside and out. She is a single mom who is in the empty nest phase of life. She is looking for someone who enjoys the active lifestyle and wants to explore the world with her. She loves meeting new people and does well with both cats and dogs. Her pups may have been picked first, but she's the real pick of the litter with her sweet disposition. She's not going to hide her goofy side either. She knows someone is out there just waiting for her.
