When he first arrived, he was understandably frightened — but with the help of a calm, confident dog friend, he’s come beautifully out of his shell. What we’re seeing now is a gentle, thoughtful, and very kind puppy. We believe he may be a Mountain Cur / Catahoula mix — a combination known for intelligence, loyalty, and strong bonds with their people. These are dogs bred to be partners: steady, observant, and deeply connected to those they trust. Despite his unsure start, this little guy has shown a truly lovely temperament. He is exceptionally gentle, especially with two younger puppies he’s currently staying with. He reads other dogs well, adjusts his energy, and shows a natural kindness that you don’t see in every puppy. He’s not a loud or pushy pup — he’s more of a quiet observer, the kind who watches first, then leans in once he feels safe. With a little patience and continued positive experiences, he’s going to grow into a wonderful companion: loyal, emotionally steady, and devoted to his person. This Pit/Mountain Curr mix is a total Phoenix that has risen from the fires of neglect, abandonment and even successfully raised her litter of puppies in the woods for the first 10 weeks of life. They were all successfully adopted in the Fall and living wonderful lives of love and commitment from their families. Oakley is the perfect girl that lives with anyone and everyone that comes her way. She embraces all people and dogs and she just lives her life with resilience and tolerance. This girl might not be a Golden Retriever in looks but she surpasses any of the commonly accepted breeds that everyone gravitates to and wants to adopt. Take her Pit mix package look away and please consider only her SOUL? Trust us, you will not want to look elsewhere for the most perfect and beautiful temperamented dog. Oakley sits on command and walks nicely on a leash. When she meets new people, she is so very social and she embraces all other dogs, adults and children alike.
