NAME: Blythe Sex: male Color/Pattern: black and white tuxedo Breed: Terrier mix Weight: ~15-20 lbs Age at intake: ~4-5 months BDAY approx: ~ Sept 11, 2024 Intake date : Jan 11, 2025 Found date: Jan 9 Coat length: very short Description BLYTHE is a sleek and shiny, black and white boo boo with Dumbo ears. He is responsive, yet quiet, only reacting when spoken to. Personality This little guy we named Blythe, was very quiet and submissive the first few days in his foster home. He gets wiggly and excited when you pay him affection. Blythe is a sweetie, submissive and obedient. He likes to hang out in his crate with the door open where he feels safe to watch from there. He became very playful once he felt more confident in his new digs after a few days. He loves going outside and doesn't mind the weather no matter what it is. He picks up on commands quickly and learns from other dogs' examples. He was already doing well with potty training and socializing within 1 week of picking him up off the street. This puppy is an easy boy who loves being loved, and is low maintenance, but high reward in reciprocating affection. Background Blythe was probably only about 4 months old when found abandoned at a long term stay hotel along 290 in Houston the 2nd week of January 2025. Management had called animal control but no one came to get him. It was cold and he was skin and bones. He was living under a staircase for 5 days where residents had given him a hotel towel to sleep on. When he heard the volunteer call to him he started wiggling excitedly and licking her hands. He was timid and resistant about being put on a leash, but then he was quiet and very good on the ride home in the truck, even when a 2nd dog was also picked up. Happy to announce that he had already filled back out 1 week later after eating well, and playing with all other foster dogs. Story
Hi, I'm Yarn! 🐾 I'm a tiny 1-month-old brown girl who's all about cuddles and playtime — my Bio Descriptors say I'm affectionate, cuddly, friendly, and playful, and honestly, I live up to the hype! 💕 I'm great with other dogs, which means I'm ready to join a multi-dog household or bond with a furry sibling. I'm still a little pup, so I'll need patience and puppy training as I grow, but with your love and care, I'll blossom into your perfect companion. Come meet me at the shelter — I can't wait to snuggle! 🎀

Story
This dog was dumped off as a small puppy in the parking of an apartment complex I resided in at the time. It’s been him and I ever since. I’m not of great means, but have kept him well and fed to this point. He’s never seen a vet, but has never shown any ailments. My current residence unfortunately has breed a size restrictions, meaning I can no longer keep him due to his approximate 60 lb weight. He loves kids, hates cats. He does fine with small dogs, but feels challenged by dogs of similar stature. I may not have a long length of time to find someone to take him, this time is of the essence.

Story
Oreo was brought into family from a litter of eight. He is three years old. He is crate trained. Oreo goes outside to potty but does not like staying outside. He is cautious around new people and barks until he gets to know them. Oreo likes to play with toys, especially rolled up socks. Oreo will be a great companion and is easily trained, responding to commands.

Story
My wife and I found this sweet boy living in a muddy culvert next to a busy street with his sister, covered in fleas and snails. After a little bribery (via beef jerky) and a lot of patience, we were able to catch them and bring them home. We got them cleaned up and to the vet. They are up to date on their first round of shots and are on flea, tick, and heartworm prevention. He's incredibly sweet and eager to please. He loves people and gets along fantastically with our son, his cat, and our 5 large breed dogs. He has a tiny bark that he thinks is a mighty roar. He howls to talk to ambulances, which is adorable. He chases laser pointers. And he LOVES to be loved. He would make a great addition to a wide variety of homes and situations, but he will definitely grow to be a big boy. We'd love to keep him and his sister together, but they'll get along just fine apart.

Story
Meet Rita, aka "Pumpernickel"! Rita is a distinguished senior lady of about 12–13 years old and 11 pounds of pure sweetness. With her gentle nature, laid-back personality, and adorable goofy streak, Rita has perfected the art of enjoying life's simple pleasures. This lovely little lady is happiest when she's stretched out in a sunny spot for an afternoon nap, curled up beside her favorite person for cuddles, or settling in for a cozy Netflix marathon. Rita is a world-class snuggler who believes that pets, affection, and snacks are among life's greatest treasures—and honestly, she's not wrong. Rita has a calm, easygoing personality that makes her a wonderful companion. She currently lives in a foster home with other dogs and mostly ignores them, preferring to do her own thing. Because of her relaxed demeanor, she would be perfectly happy as your one and only pet or sharing her home with other gentle, respectful canine companions. If you're looking for a loyal friend who will happily keep you company through lazy Sundays, afternoon naps, and late-night binge-watching sessions, Rita is ready to fill that role with grace, charm, and a little bit of Pumpernickel-powered silliness. Senior dogs like Rita have a special kind of magic—they know how to love deeply, appreciate every moment, and remind us to slow down and enjoy the sunshine. Rita is being fostered in Houston, TX. She is available for adoption locally or out of state. If adopted out of state (to the NE) she would come to her new home via professional transport. To request an app, email info@joyrides.org

Story
Meet Sushi 🤍 Sushi was surrendered to our rescue after coming from a very bad situation. He arrived with a gash on his head and a deep fear of men, carrying fear and uncertainty that no dog should ever have to live with. Despite his past, Sushi has slowly started to blossom into the sweetest little goofy chiweenie with such a loving personality. He can be a bit shy at first, but once he feels safe, he truly enjoys being loved on, pampered, and treated like the little prince he is. Sushi has never truly known what it means to be part of a family. While he is very loved here at the rescue, he would thrive in a calm, patient home where he can finally receive the consistent love and attention he deserves. He does well with other dogs and is also great with cats. Underneath his timid beginning is a dog who just wants comfort, safety, and someone to finally show him what forever feels like. ❤️

Story
Someone abandoned this puppy during Hurricane Harvey. My daughter wanted to keep him. I've kept him even after my daughter moved out. I recently had to move in someone due to finances and they don't like having an inside dog. I think that he would be much happier somewhere else. My roommate wants me to leave him in the cage all day so I'm forced to sit outside with him to make him feel comfortable. I believe keeping a dog caged all the time is inhumane and I think he deserves better. I do love him and will miss him but I want him to be happy. He is the best cuddler and friend. He will make someone very happy.
