At just 10 pounds, he was recently rescued in Costa Mesa after a harrowing encounter with a pack of coyotes. Though he was saved by a kind passerby, no owners ever stepped forward, leaving this brave pup ready for a fresh start with our rescue. Because he spent his earliest months learning to survive on his own, he is currently a “quiet soul” who is still processing the fact that he is finally safe. He isn’t aggressive; he’s simply a bit shy and observant, waiting for the right person to show him that the world isn’t a scary place anymore. He is looking for a home that offers a calm, predictable environment where he can truly decompress and let his guard down and being the first person to show him what a peaceful life looks like. He doesn’t need much—just a soft bed, a steady routine, and a patient heart to help him transition from “survival mode” to “puppy mode.” If you have a quiet corner in your home and some extra love to give and a playful dog to show him the ropes, you could be the turning point in this little survivor’s life. Health Condition * Neutered. * Microchipped, and undergoing treatment for heartworm. 2.) Rescue Story * Moonji was living in a yard in Gimje. Unfortunately, as the elderly owners’ health declined, the dogs were left without proper care for a long time. Adogs gave the grandparents some time to say goodbye to their beloved dogs before safely rescuing Moongji along with five other dogs. 3.) Basic Information * With People: Is a little shy and tense around strangers at first, but quickly warms up if offered treats. Accepts human touch well. * With Dogs: Is not very interested in other dogs and prefers spending time alone. * Separation Anxiety: Unknown, as he currently lives in a group setting at our center. * Potty Training: Currently does only outdoor pottying since he resides at our center. * Walks: When he feels uncomfortable, he might get stubborn and stop walking, but most of the time, he follows his handler well. * Car Sickness: Travels well in the car without motion sickness. * Biting: Is usually very gentle, but may mouth a little bit if you try to touch him forcefully. Doesn’t show aggression. * Barking: Is quiet; doesn’t bark or whine. * Likes: Loves treats! Even when shy, treats help him open up and respond well to training. * Dislikes: Becomes cautious and uncomfortable with loud noises or when held forcefully. Lilac is an approx 3 year old, female, 12lb, Papillon/Chihuahua mix that was found on the streets after her owners abandoned her. People in the neighborhood reported that she waited on the same street in the same spot for over a week, waiting for her people to return. Lilac is great with people and is very loving. This beautiful girl is looking for a calm home, as she can be reactive to chaos. Lilac can be your one and only or share you with a sweet, submissive doggie pal. Because she can be an alpha girl, we do not recommend a placement with a dominant dog. A home with a secure yard where Lilac can run around and play would be ideal, as would be owners who are not gone for long periods during the day. This little lovebug is so ready for her forever home. Will you be the one to make her doggie dreams come true? Lilac is spayed, vaccinated, and microchipped.
