He is a 4 month old survivor with a story that belongs in a movie. At just 10 pounds, he was recently rescued in Costa Mesa after a harrowing encounter with a pack of coyotes. Though he was saved by a kind passerby, no owners ever stepped forward, leaving this brave pup ready for a fresh start with our rescue. Because he spent his earliest months learning to survive on his own, he is currently a “quiet soul” who is still processing the fact that he is finally safe. He isn’t aggressive; he’s simply a bit shy and observant, waiting for the right person to show him that the world isn’t a scary place anymore. He is looking for a home that offers a calm, predictable environment where he can truly decompress and let his guard down and being the first person to show him what a peaceful life looks like. He doesn’t need much—just a soft bed, a steady routine, and a patient heart to help him transition from “survival mode” to “puppy mode.” If you have a quiet corner in your home and some extra love to give and a playful dog to show him the ropes, you could be the turning point in this little survivor’s life. Apply to adopt Rocky on our website at https://www.muttsinneed.org/adoption-application.htmlFebruary 23, 2026, 11:48 am

Story
Gigi was found wandering the streets of Santa Ana, alone and unsure, until a kind stranger stepped in to help and brought her to AALOC. Despite every effort to locate her previous family, no one came forward. Now, this little survivor is ready for a fresh start — and a forever home where she will never be lost again. Gigi is a darling, full-grown petite girl weighing just about 10 pounds. Her soft, shiny black fur has a delightful “bedhead” look that seems to go in every direction, giving her an irresistibly charming personality to match. We believe she may be a Papillon/Chihuahua mix — whatever her lineage, she is 100% adorable. Sweet-natured and affectionate, Gigi loves being close to her people and thrives on companionship. She also enjoys playing with other small dogs and would do well with a canine friend her size. After fending for herself, Gigi deserves a safe lap, a loving heart, and a family to call her own. Could that be you? Please apply to adopt Gigi at www.AALOC.org. Once your application is reviewed and approved we will contact you to make an appointment to visit us at AALOC to meet Gigi and get to know her a bit. Adoption donation includes spay/neuter, vaccinations, and a microchip. Applications require a veterinary reference and home visit (in Orange County, CA). For more information on adoption policies visit our dog adoption page at www.aaloc.org. Contact us by e-mail at aaloc@aaloc.org or by phone (714) 893-4393.

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Cameron was returned this summer - 9 months after he was adopted! Now he's looking for a REAL forever family.  Cameron is best described as a Cat-Dog. Much like a cat Cameron is happy on his own, and likes to be petted - but when he's ready. He isn't gonna try to steal the spotlight because he'd much rather hang out on his own - until he's comfortable. If you are looking for a fast friend, this is NOT the dog for you. But if you want to invest the time and let the dog feel relaxed and safe, he will repay you by letting you pet his chin. Cameron will do really well in a home with another small dog to help him feel more comfortable, or with a human that won't put too much pressure on him to be their friend. He is leash trained, crate trained and will need a dog savvy adopter. =============================================================== Originally, Cameron came to us after his owner was evicted and decided to abandon the house full of animals when they left.  Cameron and the two pack mates that we pulled with him were terrified. It's been 9 months and these cutie pies are available for adoption.  Cameron is the slowest to come around of the 3 dogs we pulled. While he is more comfortable hanging out by himself he does like people.  Cameron absolutely loves to run around the yard, and the more you praise how fast he is, the faster he runs - with a smile! Cameron is still shy and needs an owner that will go slow with him, but still apply a little bit of pressure. If you'd like to meet Cameron, come on down to our adoption center. Story
Adorable little Gertrude entered Orange County Animal Care as a stray, and sadly, no one came to claim her. She is about 13 years old, weighs just 5.5 lbs., is very friendly, and loves to sit on laps. Gertrude is currently on a two-week Frosted Fling, so we can learn more about her while she receives lots of TLC in the comfort of a home environment.
