Story
Hello, I'm Chatter! A name that suits me to a T, because I love to chat. I'm a sweet, friendly, curious, funny, and smart pooch. I'm a quick learner, you see. I seem to get along good with cats and other dogs. I'm a good boy who likes car rides and is potty-trained. If you're looking for a loyal companion who'll keep you entertained with my chatty antics, then I'm your guy! If you're interested in adopting me, fill out an adoption application online at www.polkcountyhumanesociety.org/adopt where you will also find a link to request an appointment to meet me. Some pets are in foster homes or may already have an appointment scheduled, so the appointment is important to make sure I will be available to meet you when you come. No need to call to find out about me, you can ask questions on the application or email questions to info@polkcountyhumanesociety.org. Polk County Humane Society is located in Bolivar, Missouri, but also makes transports to the Denver, CO, Des Moines, IA and Minneapolis, MN areas twice a month. For potential adopters in those areas, we can do a virtual visit using FaceTime or another app. Just request an appointment using the same link, but note that you want the visit to be virtual and we will call you at the time of the visit once it is confirmed. For long distance transports, there is an additional $100 fee to cover the cost of the transport ($65) and a health certificate from a veteinarian ($35). Going that last mile home for our sweet pets! ##2017631##

Story
Introducing Tiger! Tiger was saved from the euthanasia list at ACS in San Antonio in January. A little back story on him…get your tissues ready…this poor guy has had a terrible life. The kind soul who saved him from being euthanized lived next door to Tiger and helped take care of him his whole life. Tiger’s owner passed away a couple of months ago, and the owner’s girlfriend surrendered Tiger to ACS. His owner had him tied up outside all his life. He was always neglected and infested with fleas. Often the neighbor found herself having to feed and give him water because his owner would not. Despite living in such miserable conditions, in those moments of offering Tiger care, she said he was the sweetest and most caring dog and when she found out he had been surrendered, she could not let him lose his life. He deserves the chance to know love and be loved.  Tiger is an older gentleman. He’s 8, almost 9 years old and weighs in at 65 pounds. He is up to date on vaccines, neutered, and current on both flea & tick and heartworm prevention. He’s goofy, gentle, and playful for his age. He’s great with anyone he meets and other dogs too but would do best in a home without cats. Tiger is ready to find a family who is going to shower him with love and let him live out his golden years.  Could you be his hero? redfernanimalrescue.org/adopt ##1991538##

Story
Meet Sally! Sally was rescued from a rural shelter in Fort Worth, Texas, and she is definitely ready for her new Colorado adventures! She is about 2 years old and 45 pounds. Her adorable short brindle coat comes from her Plott Hound mix. Her wisdom surpasses her years- she has already brought a litter of pups into the world, and she is a natural nurturer. She loves to cuddle and is SO gentle and affectionate with ALL people, especially children! We are unsure how she is with cats. Sally loves to play with other dogs after a proper introduction. Sally is so smart and eager to please, and she already knows some commands and is fully housetrained, crate-trained, and walks very well on a leash! She loves to run, play, and go on walks, and of course snuggle, so she would love an active home! Sally is SO sweet and loving! She can’t wait to find her forever home!! Sally is completely vaccinated, spayed, and microchipped. Her adoption fee is $250. ##1480101##

Story
Sweet and playful 4 year old Estrella is eager to love and be loved. At 45 pounds she is especially fond of going for walks and is eager to show you how well she walks in heel. She is mostly house-trained and after a minute or two will settle down nicely for a nap in her crate when left alone. Motivated by food and love, she accepts treats gently and knows all of her commands such as "come", "sit", "down", "place", "stay", "no", and "off". Estrella is quite the weekend warrior, going for long summer hikes, but is equally happy to curl up on her person's lap and cuddle while they read a book or watch TV together. She is up for almost anything as long as she gets to be with her human. Estrella has so much love to give that she needs to be the only pup and would do best without any other furry companions. She's eager to find an equally loving home that will keep her constructively active fur-ever and treat her like the star she is! See additional photos of Estrella here.   Animal Rescue of the Rockies believes every pet should find a wonderful and caring home. Story
Savoring her second chance at life is sweet 2-year-old Opal. The 50-pound brindle beauty, so calm and so cuddly, loves snuggling with her foster mom, resting her head on her and then prancing prettily about. Moderately energetic, she enjoys playing with toys and going for walks, honing her leash skills with each walk, and engages more easily with dogs her own size. Fond of car rides but not of having her ears or feet touched, Opal loves all treats, accepting them gently, is motivated by food, toys and love, presently knows “sit,” “off,” and “no,” and is at work on her puppylike manners. Almost fully crate and house-trained, this sociable sweetheart should thrive in a loving home that will perfect her manners, teach her about boundaries (she considers everyone her friend) and help her feel comfortable with having her ears and feet touched. Then, once her training, including her commands, is complete, Opal will shine fur-ever like the jewel that she is!   Animal Rescue of the Rockies believes every pet should find a wonderful and caring home. Story
Hello there, I'm Mikko and I love to explore and play. I'm smart and independent, I've even mastered the no-pull harness. It's great for long walks and adventures! I have lots of energy. I'm also a big fan of treats, they're my favorite reward for learning new tricks. I'm looking for a home with a family without small children who appreciate my intelligence and independence. I promise to bring joy, fun, and unconditional love to your life. Will you be my family?April 29, 2024, 10:13 pm
