Story
Meet Bluebonnet "Bonnie"! Bonnie is a 2-year-old, 55-pound Catahoula/Plott Hound mix with a face that makes everyone think she’s a wise old senior—but don't let that sweet sugared muzzle fool you! Bonnie is still a young girl with plenty of love, curiosity, and adventure ahead of her. Bonnie is definitely a hound through and through. Her nose is her built-in GPS, and she loves following interesting scents wherever they lead. Whether she's exploring the backyard, enjoying a leisurely walk around the neighborhood, or investigating something new, Bonnie is happiest when she gets to use those hound instincts. This sweet girl knows exactly what she loves: food, people, and other dogs. Snacks, meals, treats—Bonnie is a fan of them all! She gets along wonderfully with dogs of all sizes and enjoys being around her furry friends. She has a goofy, lovable personality and a heart as big as Texas. Bonnie may not always have all the answers, but her affectionate nature and silly charm make everyone smile. Bonnie is still learning about some of life's little joys, including toys. The one thing she has figured out is that she is a natural on a boat, floating in the river or hanging out by shore with her foster sisters. Soaking up the scenery, playing tag and then jumping in. She is up for adventure. If you're looking for a loyal, gentle, dog-friendly companion with a sweet personality, a great nose, and endless love to give, Bonnie may be your girl. Bonnie is fostered in Austin, TX. Her adoption fee is if adopted in the Austin, TX area, If in the PNW, fee would be $400 (transport) Apply here: https://www.centraltexasruffugees.org/copy-of-foster

Good with dogs, House-trained, Spayed or Neutered,
Story
Finnegan might look like a tough guy, but he's a big softie who just wants to snuggle up with his person! He's the full package - smart, handsome, affectionate, and funny. He's an excellent houseguest - noted to be potty trained and polite, great on leash and in the car. Finnegan is enrolled in APA!'s Total Obedience Program, and has a dedicated trainer working with them on obedience skills. The Total Obedience Program (TOP) is modeled after the AKC's Canine Good Citizen (CGC) test. Those skills include learning to sit when approached by strangers, calmly walking past another dog, staying in a sit or down until told "free," coming when called and "Place", which means they will go to a specific place in your home on command. As a part of APA's Total Obedience Program you can work with APA! staff to continue to build a training relationship with them after adoption and master all the TOP dog skills together. Check out a video on APA's CGC program, on which the TOP was based: https://vimeo.com/89434193

Story
Turkey Meatball is a big, gentle sweetheart who absolutely loves people. His signature move? A slow, full-body “melt” into anyone kind enough to give him attention—on walks, at home, anywhere. It’s as soft and endearing as it sounds. This affectionate boy is convinced he’s a lapdog and will happily stick by your side for cuddles as long as you’ll let him. He can get a little excited when meeting new friends (he just loves people that much!), but he settles quickly into his favorite activity: leaning in close and soaking up all the love. Turkey Meatball already knows some basics like “sit” and “down,” is learning house manners in foster care. He is very food-motivated—so continued training should be a breeze. After a rough start, he’s ready for a home filled with consistency, kindness, and plenty of cozy moments. If you’re looking for a loyal, affectionate companion who will make every day feel a little softer, Turkey Meatball is your guy.

Once he feels secure in his surroundings, his curious nature comes forward, and he enthusiastically accepts treats from his human friends. Story
Jed is a handsome, approximately 1-year-old Catahoula mix who has already been through more than any dog should. He was found after being abandoned, hiding underneath a stranger's porch, too frightened to come out. Instead of running, he curled up tighter, hoping the world would simply leave him alone. Thankfully, he was rescued and is now safe. Jed is looking for a loving family that will give him the chance he's never had. He may be a little shy at first, but with kindness, and time, he'll learn what it feels like to truly belong. His striking one blue eye and one brown eye make him unforgettable, but its his gentle heart that will win you over. If you're looking for a loyal companion and are willing to let trust grow at his pace, Jed could be the perfect addition to your family. Approximate Age: 1 year Location: Clarendon, Texas Transport available to approved adopters anywhere for the right home. Jed has waited long enough. Could you be the one to show him that hell never be abandoned again?
