Story
Mission: Woof Pack Rescue is a 501(c)(3) non-profit working to improve the health, welfare, and safety of Houston's dogs. Our organization was started by one dog mom on a mission to help those animals in need. Our goal is to find loving homes for abandoned, lost, forgotten or mistreated dogs from the streets of Houston and surrounding areas. Currently being fostered in Houston, Tx with transport available out of state. Penny is an adorable, quirky little girl, about 18 months old, originally found in the middle of an esplanade on a busy street and made it across to the neighborhood side and huddled against the outside of a fence, terrified. We thought she had been spayed already, as she had a scar on her belly. Her ear was either bitten or snipped and she was/is missing some of the fur on her side. Since we originally had to board her, we soon found out, she was not spayed as she went into heat at the vet. The vet and all who have examined her agree, her scar was from having a c-section as she had definitely had at least one litter of puppies, possibly used to breed for the beautiful brindle coat she has. She is - hw negative, -spayed, - UTD on all vaccinations. - She is good with all the other dogs, small and larger. - she loves to be around people and her favorite yoga position is the "sploot". - she loves to lay with her belly flat on the floor and back legs straight out and somehow, she will move backwards in that position without seeming to move anything. - She has a very unique cross between a howl and coo. Don't be fooled by her small size, she's a sturdy girl and her head can scooch thru a slightly open door to go in the backyard before you know it. - She's a toy destroyer, so heavy chewer toys only or you'll find tufts of toy guts everywhere! But she saves the squeaker for you. She is a beautiful girl, her markings are like a tigress, and she has a beautiful heart that you can see when she looks at you with her big brown eyes. A furever home with a fur-friend for her to play with would be great, or she would be content hanging out near you while you work. **Penny is available to transport to Austin or out of state, preferably northern states.

Story
She does not have behavioral issues. That was simply the best category of the list. Rowdy is a wonderful little dog. She’s a dream companion if you are an outdoor person. She never gets tired and I am no athlete. Her real problem is I’m an older owner whose interests are not aligned with her needs. She is NOT destructive. No problems at all in that area. She’s obedient, affectionate, and eager to please. She is a roughneck which in my opinion isn’t good for SOME children and elderly people with poor balance. She’s energetic, playful, learns quickly, takes well to commands, fiercely loyal, is very athletic, (fast as heck) and extremely loving. She would do well in obstacle course training. She can clear a 6 foot fence with little to no effort. While she likes other dogs, she seeks alpha dog status. She’s got heart and not always smart enough to back down. Give her a chance if you are active and you won’t be sorry.

Story
Meet Ember, a stunning brindle beauty! This lively and affectionate German Shepherd/Plott Hound mix at a little over 3 1/2 years old and weighs just about 75 pounds. Ember is a sweet and playful companion who loves cuddles, belly rubs, walks, and being brushed. She's quite the communicator and will let you know what she's thinking! She might give a little whine when she's ready for a walk or a playful bark when she wants to play. Ember can be a little shy when meeting new people, but she warms up quickly with a gentle approach and some tasty treats. Once she knows you, she's a loyal and devoted companion. She enjoys playing fetch and tug-of-war and has a moderate energy level. She loves her walks and playtime, but she's also happy to relax on the couch with her family. Ember is house and crate trained and knows several basic commands. She gets along well with other dogs after a proper introduction. Ember is spayed, microchipped, and up-to-date on her vaccinations. If you're interested in adopting this beautiful girl, please apply at www.hhfrescue.org.

Story
Meet Joy — a pup true to her name!Joy is a 5-year-old Catahoula Leopard Dog mix (about 49 lbs) whose biggest talent is making everyone around her feel… joyful. She’s gentle, affectionate and easy-going with her people.Joy loves being close to humans. After playtime, she’s perfectly happy to settle down at your feet or cuddle on the couch for a quiet evening. She has a medium energy level- she enjoys playful bursts, backyard zoomies and walks, but she’s not a nonstop athlete. She’d much rather spend time with her family than patrol the yard all day. She’s fantastic with kids and has been especially sweet and gentle with an 8-year-old in her foster home. Joy loves fiercely and has a tender, forgiving spirit that really shines around children. She takes treats politely and has an adorable habit of trying to give “hugs” by placing her paws on your waist.About her:House manners? Nailed it.Fully potty trainedSleeps quietly in her crate all night (and actually likes it!)Walks nicely on leashNo issues with people or handlingJoy enjoys playing with other dogs, especially dogs her own size who like to wrestle and roughhouse a bit. Her play style can be energetic and physical, so she would do best with confident canine companions who match her size and play energy. She has done well coexisting peacefully with some dogs in her foster home, though play can occasionally become intense with certain personalities.Because of her strong prey drive, Joy should not live with cats or small animals. She is highly focused on squirrels and birds outdoors and would likely chase them if given the opportunity. She also prefers having her toys and bones respected by other dogs, so thoughtful supervision around high-value items is important.Despite an unknown past, Joy has proven to be remarkably trusting, loving, and adaptable. She’s looking for a home that understands her playful, spirited nature and will give her the companionship, structure and affection she thrives on.She’s ready to be someone’s forever companion! Maybe yours?! Joy is currently in a loving foster home in the Houston, Texas area. She is able to travel out of state and we can typically arrange transportation. Story
MEET CHAI! Chai is a 3-year-old, 53-lb Catahoula mix who is as sweet and affectionate as they come. This handsome boy truly loves being close to his people and feels happiest when he can see what his humans are up to.Chai prefers not to be left alone and does best when his crate is set up in a room where he can feel included—he just wants to be part of the family. He’s a smart, eager-to-please pup who already knows sit, down, and even an adorable “play dead” trick! He’ll also spin in a circle on a hand signal and enjoys showing off his skills, especially when food is involved.Chai appears to be house trained and gets along well with other dogs of all sizes. He’s playful and would love a dog buddy who actually wants to romp and play with him. He likes kids and has not yet been tested with cats.On leash, Chai can be a bit of a puller, but with consistency and positive reinforcement (especially treats!), he should improve quickly. If you’re looking for a loyal, people-loving companion with brains, personality, and a big heart, Chai is your guy.
