Story

Princess was surrendered to a rescue when her owner could no longer care for her. She was living in a bad situation and kept in a crate most of the time. Before this, she was raised with her owner and had exposure to grandchildren and some family, but Princess was not socialized outside of the home. She came to the rescue very frightened of everything and everyone, she was almost feral (wild) in her behaviors. She slowly came out of her shell and learned that noone was going to hurt her - now she is happy, playful and full of personality with everyone she knows. She is still fearful of strangers, but with patience and time we know she will very quickly learn to trust a new person and become a wonderful family dog for someone very lucky.

Fiona-Pointer X female, ~ 3-4yr. (July 2024) Contact rescuebc@hotmail.com for an application. Fiona came to Rescue from a high kill big city shelter. She was on the list to lose her life to euthanasia that very day. This was happening only because the shelter is way overwhelmed with dogs needing homes. Fiona went into a rescue foster home and has proved to be an excellent dog. She's about 35-40#, full of intelligence and life. She plays well with the other foster dogs, is very social. Best of all, she loves people and wants to interact with his humans. She would be an excellent hiking or walking partner. Fiona's adoption fee is $350 to help cover the medical costs of getting ready for adoption . If you’re reading this, we here in the rescue already know you’re a special person. It takes a very special, kind, loving, extremely caring person to consider adopting an adult/senior dog. The world needs more people like you and dogs like Gunnar need people like you. Gunner’s family has decided they would like to rehome him through no fault of his own. Gunner might be a little set in his ways, but who isn’t at this age? Gunner would be great with an older couple, no other dogs and not lots of small kids in and out. He is not a huge fan of little dogs. He hasn’t ever bitten anyone or anything, but has snapped at some smaller dogs who get on his nerves 😂. We could easily put you in touch with his current family and they can tell you all about him if interested. This guy just needs a great home to live out the rest of his days and in and a family that won’t turn their back on him again. Once adopted, Gunner will travel via Rescue Vet Transport to his new family. They travel each and every weekend from Memphis, Tennessee to the north east, delivering pups along the way as far north as West Greenwich, Rhode Island. Transport is an additional $185. Please meet Zachary! Zachary is a stunning 4 month old pointer mix who is currently being fostered with 3 adult dogs and one foster puppy. Zachary found himself as a stray on the streets of rural Cleveland, Mississippi, and we believe at one point he was someone's pet. Although he was very malnourished, Zachary is still very sociable and well adapted, and we think he may have known "sit" already. How anyone could dump this gem of a boy is beyond us. Zachary is as good as it gets! Zachary spent a short time at the shelter and was fortunately spotted by Mercer Animal Rescue, and he won them over with his sweet and happy nature. He was rescued with his foster brother "Hugo" and the two get along swimmingly. Zachary does very well in his crate, he's perfect in the car, he loves children and dogs. He is smart and affectionate, he loves to be with his people, but is also content to pick up his favorite toy and go plop down in his kennel and chill out. Zachary loves tug of war with his dog friends, and is doing fabulously with his potty training and crate training. He does well on a leash for a puppy his age, and his stunning green eyes are absolutely hypnotic. He charms everyone he meets with his happy, sweet and fun loving personality. Zachery loves water and is very good off leash - he is a hiker/campers dream. Zachary's life started out on a rough note, but those days are over. We can't wait to see where he lands and we are so happy for his new lease on life!

Our pretty little girl is called Cora and what a loving and sweet little Pointer mix girl she truly is. She loves playing with other dogs and sleeping in the bed with her foster mom. This little girl was one of 8 puppies left in an outdoor pen and basically abandoned by the former owner when they loved. Neighbors stopped by for 3 months to feed and water the puppies and sadly that was all. They grew and grew and eventually started fighting over the little food they had and the small pen was just so confining. One of the great Critter Cavalry Rescue foster moms heard of their plight and went to get them out of their hot, and confining pen that offered no exercise and not enough food daily…and NO HUMAN LOVE. Now Cora and her siblings are seeking homes where they can spread their wings and bask in the love and care of their new families. Cora is remarkably loving and fun and seems to not have been emotionally stunted by their early months of growing up abandoned. We know that she loves other dogs! She plays with a 45 pound black lab male that is a year old and “Her and Bo are like two peas in a pod”. They absolutely love playing together, tug of war, chasing each other in the yard, or just sleeping in the dog bed together. Cora is good with cats and loves the young children that are in the home, even with all their noise and high energy play. She is almost there with her potty training and she is good with being in the crate at times needed. Cora relates to people and loves them. She always needs to be right by someone and loves to lay on your feet. She has learned not to be possessive of her good or toys as she first started out being. We totally understood the possessiveness and now she is relaxed and eager to share. This pretty girl and her siblings have come such a long way. We are so happy for them to be in out foster care and receiving the love that they so readily deserve.
