Story
I’m Puddy, a precious pocket-size pointer mix in search of my forever home!I came to the Humane Society of York County as a stray, and I’m still a young girl – my estimated birth date is April 2025. I’m a petite package of about 20 pounds.I get along well with other dogs at the rescue. I have a confident personality, so I need to be a good match for any pets in a forever home.I’m an educated girl – a graduate from Zoom Room in Fort Mill, where I learned all of my basic skills like sit, down and heel. My adopters will get two free lessons!I have typical puppy energy and am a great leash-walker and car rider. I would be a great fit for a person or family who likes to be on the go.Like all puppies, I’ll need a forever home where I can continue my training – and that means plenty of patience and consistency from my new family while I learn and finish growing up.If you wish to meet me, please call the Humane Society of York County at (803)-802-0902 to schedule an appointment. Please refer to our website for adoption requirements: https://humanesocietyofyorkcounty.org/adopt/adoption-process.htmlThank you for your support.

Story
Please contact my foster at: marykatherine27@gmail.comMeet Hagen: The Ultimate Snuggle-Sleuth!If you’re looking for the perfect blend of outdoor adventure and indoor relaxation, look no further than Hagen. This handsome hound is the `perfect mixture of spunk and chill,` and he’s ready to find his forever person. Personality & PlayHagen is a vibrant, smart boy with a heart of gold. He is incredibly affectionate and lives for a good belly rub or a long couch snuggle. While he has a playful side and gets along famously with other dogs (he currently has a foster sister named Mona!), his absolute `happy place` is being right next to his human. He’s even claimed a cozy spot in the big bed, where he sleeps soundly all through the night. The Hound LifeIn true hound fashion, Hagen’s nose is his superpower! He is an expert sniffer who loves his daily `scent walks,` easily clocking 2 miles in the morning and evening. Because his nose can sometimes take over his brain, he’ll do best in a home with a secure, fenced-in backyard where he can explore safely.Home Life & Training* Family Man: Hagen has been a gentleman with everyone he`s met, from 8-year-olds to 70-year-olds. With a slow introduction and a little initial space, he warms up quickly and becomes your best friend.*Adaptable: He would thrive as either an only dog or in a home with furry siblings.Work in Progress: He is currently working on his crate training with treats and positive reinforcement. He’s a quick learner and is already showing great progress!*The `Hound` Factor: He has just a touch of that endearing hound dog stubbornness, which only adds to his charm and personality.Hagen is a rewarding, loyal companion who clearly belonged to someone special before—and he’s ready to belong again. Are you the one he’s been sniffing around for?

Story
Contact the foster at, jsokley@gmail.comMeet Greta — your ideal match might be waiting! Greta is a great beautiful, gentle soul with a funny, affectionate personality. She’s a curious girl who loves car rides, spending time outside (especially the greenway), and lounging on the couch with her favorite human. Treat-motivated and eager to please, she’ll do just about anything for a tasty snack — especially bananas or doggy ice cream!Greta enjoys keeping herself entertained by tossing her toys up and down the stairs and often strikes hilarious sleeping poses (imagine one paw up in the air!). Despite her goofy side, Greta is a sensitive pup who appreciates a calm, gentle home. Thunderstorms don’t bother her at all, but loud, sudden human noises — even playful ones — can make her uneasy.Greta is making wonderful progress with training. She knows “sit,” loves her crate (as long as the door stays open), and is practicing “stay.” She’s comfortable in a harness and does great in the car, although a seatbelt attachment would be wise, so she will not try to ride by your side while you’re driving. Greta also has adorable, webbed paws — who knows, maybe one day she’ll love the water, too! Finally, her jogging gait is so cute— it’s like she’s trotting at an angle.Greta can be a bit cautious at first and would do best with someone who can give her plenty of time, patience, and encouragement. Due to some separation anxiety, she’d appreciate a home where she isn’t left alone too long at first. Greta enjoys meeting adults and other dogs but needs to live in a cat free home.If you’re looking for a smart, silly, and loyal shadow who will make you laugh and melt your heart, Greta might be your ideal match. More about Greta:-She is also eating very well and gets excited for meal time. -Working through some barrier reactivity-She loves toys and has a hard time picking which one to play with when there are many choices!-She has a shy, cautious personality but opens up quickly when she trusts you.-She is VERY SMART!  She knows Sit, Down,Shake, Leave it, Wait.  She also responds very well to corrections.-We have not done a lot of walks as she was hyper-alert, scanning her surroundings and pulling quite a bit the first couple of days, which was manageable, but I thought I would give her some time to settle before working on leash manners.
