Meet Mi’jo — a tiny senior gentleman with a heart full of love. Mi’jo is a 10-year-old, 12-pound sweetheart who embodies everything wonderful about senior dogs: calm, gentle, affectionate, and endlessly grateful for every moment with his people. He’s housetrained, crate trained, and has the sweetest, softest presence in the home. Mi’jo enjoys the simple joys of life—slow strolls, sniffing around the yard, cozy naps, and treats (he LOVES treats!). Despite having typical senior-dog challenges like dim vision, some arthritis, and spondylosis, he’s still active, comfortable, and happily engaged in his daily routines. He currently lives with several other dogs and gets along beautifully with everyone, but due to his small size and gentle nature, Mi’jo would do best in a quiet home without rambunctious dogs or small children. He also isn’t suited for homes with lots of stairs unless they can be securely blocked off. Mi’jo is a quiet little man, though he does enjoy gently reminding the Amazon driver that he’s still on duty as a loyal protector. Most of the time, though, you’ll find him cuddled up on the couch, snoozing peacefully. This sweet boy has been fully vetted, including labwork, a dental cleaning, and a thorough exam. He had very poor teeth and required 16 extractions, so he now eats soft food (or Fresh Pet) and enjoys soft treats—Pill Pockets are his favorite! He takes a daily NSAID to keep him comfortable and feeling good. Mi’jo is looking for a calm, loving home where he can spend his golden years surrounded by warmth, safety, and gentle companionship. We prefer potential adopters to be within 1 hour drive of Claymont DE 19703. Oso (bear in Spanish), was surrendered because his original family could not provide him what he needed. We got “Oh so” and immediately made a vet appointment, we knew he needed to be neutered and dental surgery if his bloodwork was ok, so he was thoroughly checked and good to go. He is a totally different dog after 24 teeth were removed. I don’t think he notices his testies are gone, he is having so much fun chewing on bones, playing with toys and eating with no pain. He has the energy of a 5 year old dog, so not a typical low key senior dog. I would have named him Tigger bc he bounces so much. He just wants to be with his people. If foster mom is sitting, then Oso finds a spot close by to lay down. He loves to go on walks and car rides. He is crate trained too. He gets along with most of the other dogs, except a high energetic one yr old chi that's in everyone’s face. Oso has a very think coat so he will need to be brushed, and he loves it. His bark doesn’t match his size, you would think he was over 50 pounds if you heard his bark behind a closed door. He is very chatty so we will not home him in an apartment or condo. Each week we use USDA certified transports to bring dogs from high-kill shelters in the south to our fosters where they all receive the appropriate medical care and are placed in nurturing loving homes while they await placement in their forever homes. Then, it's just a simple process of finding a dog you're interested in and filling out an application on our site. Artie came from a litter of puppies that came from a deceased family members Pomeranian. So have had him since birth. He does not get the attention he deserves due to crazy life schedule. He deserves his person. He is a gentle and loving boy. Great with kids and other dogs, big and small. Never got on schedule to be potty trained but that is probably easily corrected with a schedule and some attention. Has always had vet care and grooming, but easily bathed by owner. This one is a Lover not a fighter. Shy at first but warms up and eager for attention. Does well in vehicles. Just want this baby to have someone to love and have time to give him snuggles and let him give his kisses to. Artie is 5 yrs young. Mom is still healthy( she is only 6 lbs)and was taken in by another family member. Dad was ?? But Artie exudes the Pom look. Please give this boy a home with lots of love and attention.

I adopted Paco in August 2023. He will be 5 this year. He weighs 14.5#. He is affectionate and an excellent companion. He is not destructive and has a low energy level. (Except when he gets the zoomies). He gets along well with my two cats. I need to rehome him because of changes in my work schedule. His main behavioral issues are dog aggression (barking and straining at the leash). However, he is mostly responsive to treats. Although he is house trained, I keep him in reusable/washable doggie belly bands because he sometimes marks in the house. I think he would be best off in a home where someone is around most of the day. He prefers women to men. He would also be fine with cats or a small to medium dog. When he meets dogs fave to face, he usually drops into a play bow right away, so he might appreciate a friend.
