Story
I purchased Simba in 2014, Lancaster, Pennsylvania. He is 11 years old, very sweet, playful, and also likes to keep to himself sometimes. Gets along with cats, dogs, and children. I used to live with him at my mom’s house where we had a big backyard for him to go out and play. However, I recently had to move out and now live in an apartment and he is not adjusting very well. Due to my busy schedule, I am only able to take Simba out a couple times a day. And I think given his old age he needs access to using the bathroom more often than I am able to provide. He is also alone for long hours while I’m working. I feel he deserves to be in a home that not only has a yard, but a family who is home more often and able to give him the attention he needs. He is not neutered (new owners choice in doing so) and recently developed a skin allergy this past spring. He is on apoquel, which is an allergy suppressant. Other than that, he is in great shape for his age.

Story
**Please note this is pet is currently out of town pet but we will transport this pet to NJ for you when adopted. All fees listed include transport fees.** Meet Huxley Doughnut! Say hello to Huxley Doughnut, the sweetest little Pomeranian you’ll ever meet! This tiny fluffball weighs just 6 pounds and is estimated to be around 4–6 years old. Huxley Doughnut’s journey started when one of our amazing fosters found him wandering the streets. Unfortunately, no owner came forward — but that just means he’s now ready for a fresh start and a forever home of his own! Huxley is a gentle and loving boy, though he can be a little shy at first. Once he warms up, his sweet personality really shines. He’s a laid-back companion who enjoys calm environments and cozy naps. He’s currently working on his house training and leash manners, and he’s making steady progress every day. If you’re looking for a soft-hearted, easygoing pup who just wants to feel safe and loved, Huxley Doughnut would love to be your new best friend. 💛 Interested in becoming a forever home for Huxley? Fill out our online adoption application: http://www.friendswithfourpaws.org/adoption-form.html This is the first step in our process, and we don't go any further without an application. Find more adoptable pets, news and information on Instagram @friendswithfourpaws or our Facebook page Friends with Four Paws . We put a lot of time and energy into processing our adoptions to find our babies the best fit home for them and you. Please do not submit an application if you are not serious about adopting. We are so excited to work with you to find you a new forever friend, and appreciate you working with us.For immediate consideration, please attach your application to the initial inquiry to help us expedite the process. Our adoption fee is $650. This includes their spay/neuter surgery, full (age appropriate) vaccinations, microchip insertion and registration, deworming, heartworm testing and prevention, flea and tick prevention and travel expenses. All of our dogs are rescued from local shelters and the general public in Oklahoma. Each dog is then placed in a foster home where he/she is kept for quarantine, to ensure if the dog gets sick it can receive proper treatment. We have foster homes in the NJ/NY area waiting to receive their fosters. Once an animal has received an application or there's an adopter interested, we make arrangements for transport. If a dog is already in foster care in NYC/NJ, an adopter will be put in touch with the foster home AFTER an application is being processed. Thank you in advance for your patience with our process and for making adoption YOUR option!

Story
Hansel is a 14 Year Old Pomeranian whose elderly owners could no longer care for him. Now, a previous adopter of our organization reached out, knowing she could trust us to find Hansel the loving home he deserves in his senior years. Hansel is both friendly with people and other dogs and even cats. He is not incredibly demanding insofar as his energy goes, but he greets the day by leaping excitedly and is really pretty high-energy for an elderly do (true to his Pomeranian nature). Hansel loves attention and isn't afraid to make his voice heard. Hansel would thrive in a low-key home with people who are around most of the time, as that is the environment he came from. He is neutered and up to date on vaccines.  ##2122341##

Story
Zucchini - 5 months, 15lbs, Terrier/Pom Mix, Spayed Expected full grown size 25lbs  This puppy is eligible to join our foster-to-adopt program. Please email fostertoadopt@socialteesnyc.org with the animal’s name in the subject line if you are interested! Want to straight up adopt? Submit an adoption application at socialteesnyc.org Level of dog ownership experience needed:INTERMEDIATE: As an adult, this dog will need significant structure and plenty of daily exercise, training, and mental stimulation – 90 consecutive minutes of movement in the morning plus potty break walks and brain games throughout the day. The adopter must have relevant primary care experience with a similar breed, temperament, and/or energy level. (Primary care experience includes ownership, fostering, or dog sitting as an adult, not a dog you grew up with.) Relevant puppy care experience is a huge plus, but bare minimum the adopter must have TONS of time and patience. Raising a puppy can be a lot of fun, but it’s also  tremendous work. Puppies’ personalities and exercise/stimulation requirements change dramatically between now and when they’re a year old as their bodies and brains develop, so an active lifestyle and the ability to adapt to a pup’s evolving needs are a must. We strongly urge professional dog training with a rewards based trainer from the get go. Adults only or kids ages 8 and up – all puppies go through a mouthy, rambunctious phase and often accidentally hurt children when playing. PLEASE DO YOUR OWN BREED RESEARCH to make sure you have a better understanding of the kind of temperament and exercise requirements this dog may have as an adult. Energy levelMEDIUM: Very young puppies sleep and nap a lot, but their energy level skyrockets when they become teens (4 months to around a year). As an adult, this dog will need significant structure and plenty of daily exercise, training, and mental stimulation – 90 consecutive minutes of movement in the morning plus potty break walks and brain games throughout the day at a minimum. (This is regardless of dog size – many small breeds were designed for lots of activity and will exhibit unwanted behavior when they’re understimulated.)  POTTY TRAINED?Working on this skill. Puppies under 12 weeks old are often on track with their wee pad skills, but they’re too young to walk outside in public NYC areas yet because they haven’t finished their puppy vaccine series. Puppies older than 12 weeks are usually learning to do their business outside. Potty training takes a lot of patience, consistency, and clean up.  SOCIAL WITH DOGS?Yes. Some puppies are shy, others are bold, but all have the potential to be taught healthy socializing skills. It’s a huge part of raising a puppy and must be done carefully. How they interact with other dogs depends largely on how their humans help them learn to.  SOCIAL WITH CHILDREN?  (ALWAYS requires adult supervision)Yes… but most puppies are not a great match for a home with kids under age 8 because they go through intense mouthy play and rambunctious phases and often accidentally hurt young kids while playing. Children must always be monitored and taught to interact with dogs of any age respectfully.   SOCIAL WITH CATS?Yes. Almost all puppies have the potential to be friends with a cat. It’s on the adopter to know their cat’s temperament and preferences and to teach their puppy respectful manners.  MOUTHY PLAY: High! All puppies go through phases where they chew your stuff and grab your hands, arms, feet… puppies naturally explore the world, play, and test boundaries with their mouths. (It also happens when they’re teething.) Their teeth are super sharp though, so it can be a very painful phase for humans and other animals in the home. Proper training, outlets, and socialization are key. SEPARATION ANXIETYMEDIUM: Most puppies have some level of separation anxiety as they learn to self soothe. Often they cry the first 10+ minutes when they are left home alone or in a crate. Consistent training and alone time is crucial. LEASH MANNERS:None. :) Will need to learn this skill.   CRATE TRAINED:Nope. None of our new puppies have been formally trained, but many of our foster parents/adopters choose to crate train. It can be a great way to keep puppies safe and teach them independence. MEDICAL STATUS:Healthy as far as we know. Up to date on their DHPP and Bordetella vaccines (for dogs under 4 months old, adopters will need to finish the DHPP vaccine series and administer the Rabies vaccine at 16 weeks of age), spayed/neutered; microchipped; treated with dewormer upon HOW DID THIS DOG END UP WITH US?Most of our dogs come via partner groups who help us save them from shelters where they are at risk of euthanasia in Tennessee, Los Angeles and Puerto Rico. There are very few spay/neuter resources there and many more animals in those areas than there are people to adopt them. Rescue groups like ours bring them to the northeast where the desire for pets like these allows us to save their lives.  PLEASE NOTE: We cannot guarantee any breed mix, exact age, or full grown size (if the dog is under a year old). We do our best with very educated guesses though!  This animal is not at the Social Tees office, all are in foster homes.
