Introducing our newest sweet senior, Cali! This 10 year old Pomsky has been a frequent flyer at a local shelter, kept outside and running loose on a regular basis. This last time her owners didn’t come back for her so she finally has the chance for a better life and responsible loving home. She’s a sweetheart, blind but navigates well, loves being brushed and belly rubs, and is fine with other smallish gentle dogs (she’s about 17lbs full grown and looks like an oversized Pomeranian). She’s been spayed, had a dental, and had a small benign mammary mass removed and has recovered nicely, and is ready for a home that appreciates her loyalty and lovely disposition. Email njwoof@cs.com if you are interested in meeting Cali Since COVID-19, we are no longer holding our Sunday adoption events until further notice, but we are scheduling meet and greet appointments with a specific dog or dogs at our meeting spots in Northern NJ. Meet Lennox! This little foxy-looking guy is still just a baby, just turned a year old. He was terrified and lashing out to defend himself in his cage at the pound and at the vet but is warming up nicely and a sweet boy once he feels safe. He’s been getting along with other dogs in foster, still working on housebreaking but does go when taken out, and after a rough first couple days adjustment has been an easy and go with the flow kind of guy. We aren’t sure of his mix- we see some Pom, corgi, doxie, Fennec Fox 🦊… about 16lbs full grown with short stumpy legs and the most luxurious long flowing tail. Adoption fee is 850.00, transport is HEARTS LLC, that fee is 165.00. The first step in the adoption process is to fill out an online adoption application. You can find a copy of that application here. After you submit your application please allow a few days to review your application. During this time your vet reference will be checked. Applications are not approved on a first come, first serve basis. We do look for the best home that fits each of our pets, so even if the pet has other applications, this does not mean he/she will be adopted to that home. Story

I purchased Simba in 2014, Lancaster, Pennsylvania. He is 11 years old, very sweet, playful, and also likes to keep to himself sometimes. Gets along with cats, dogs, and children. I used to live with him at my mom’s house where we had a big backyard for him to go out and play. However, I recently had to move out and now live in an apartment and he is not adjusting very well. Due to my busy schedule, I am only able to take Simba out a couple times a day. And I think given his old age he needs access to using the bathroom more often than I am able to provide. He is also alone for long hours while I’m working. I feel he deserves to be in a home that not only has a yard, but a family who is home more often and able to give him the attention he needs. He is not neutered (new owners choice in doing so) and recently developed a skin allergy this past spring. He is on apoquel, which is an allergy suppressant. Other than that, he is in great shape for his age.

Isn’t used to pets yet and * With Dogs: Gets along with the other dogs at our center, and relies on his mother #AdogsMiso. * With Cats: Hasn’t met them yet. * Separation Anxiety: Not confirmed as he lives communally with other dogs at our center. * Potty Training: Does only outdoor pottying at our center. * Walks: Hasn’t had experience with walks yet. * Hygiene: Hasn’t had experience with grooming yet as he still feels uncomfortable with being touched. * Car Sickness: Hasn’t shown signs of motion sickness so far but it's unclear during long distance drives. * Has never shown biting behavior. * Has no empty barking. * Likes treats so it helps a little in getting closer to him. * Still feels awkward with human touch.
