Sweet one-eyed Ilya has a story written all over his gentle little face. We’re not sure what happened to his eye, but it certainly doesn’t slow him down — if anything, it just makes him even more special. He was surrendered to the local animal shelter in Jersey City, where he was absolutely terrified. We stepped in to save him, and once he felt safe, his true personality began to shine. Ilya comes out of his shell quickly and reveals the most incredibly sweet, soft soul. He is gentle, quiet, and affectionate — and honestly, he acts like a cat! He loves to curl up, observe the world calmly, and soak in love in the most delicate way. Suspected to be a senior around 7–8 years old, Ilya is past the chaos and just wants comfort, kindness, and a cozy spot to call his own. He is good with other dogs and all people, and his tender nature makes him such an easy companion. Ilya is microchipped, neutered, and up to date on vaccines — and ready for a peaceful forever home where he will never feel scared again. Introducing our newest sweet senior, Cali! This 10 year old Pomsky has been a frequent flyer at a local shelter, kept outside and running loose on a regular basis. This last time her owners didn’t come back for her so she finally has the chance for a better life and responsible loving home. She’s a sweetheart, blind but navigates well, loves being brushed and belly rubs, and is fine with other smallish gentle dogs (she’s about 17lbs full grown and looks like an oversized Pomeranian). She’s been spayed, had a dental, and had a small benign mammary mass removed and has recovered nicely, and is ready for a home that appreciates her loyalty and lovely disposition. Meet Willow! Willow is a pomsky puppy who is looking for her loving forever home. She was saved from a puppy mill along with her two littermates, and like many puppy mill survivors, is fearful of people but shows no aggression despite her fear. Willow is great with other dogs and needs a home with at least one well-adjusted dog to help her gain confidence and learn “how to dog.” Willow is learning to walk on leash would do best in a home with a very secure, fenced-in yard that she cannot escape from (e.g. no small holes under the fence that could be crawled through). We would recommend keeping Willow on a long leash when outside to make sure that she can be safely brought back inside when playtime is over. Willow is crate trained. Meet Archie! Archie is a male Pomeranian who was rescued from being found left in a dumpster. Now safe at Husky House, Archie is looking for his loving forever home. Unfortunately, Archie has had a few seizures since arriving at Husky House, so he takes medication twice daily to help manage them. Poor Archie is very nervous around people, which is understandable given his history. He does not go out of his way to snap, but may growl or get snappy when people do not respect his boundaries (e.g. try to pick him up when he is uncomfortable). Meet Klondike! He's a 5 month old Pomsky rescued from an amish puppy mill. He's a bit shy at first but as long as he's around other dogs he breaks out of his shell pretty quickly! He wants to play with cats and hasn't shown aggression but is still learning to be gentle about it. Once he warms up he loves to snuggle in bed and give kisses! He's doing great with potty training along with great in the crate (as long as he gets a fun treat like a peanut butter filled Kong). He's been good on leash but still learning not to pull. He does much better if another dog is walking with him, he doesn't have a ton of confidence by himself yet. Klondike has the typical puppy energy and loves zoomies/playing with toys.
