Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. 2nd Chance 4 Life Rescue is primarily a sanctuary for senior and medically needy dogs.  Every once in awhile you will see younger dogs but for the most part our dogs live out their life at the ranch at the request of their previous owners or their owners families.  We have many sponsorship dogs.  Our sponsors love to keep in touch and know how their sponsored fur buddy is doing :)When we have foster families we are thrilled to be able to take adoptable younger dogs :)  So if you have ever thought about becoming fosters please feel free to go to our foster/volunteer page and fill out an application. The Ranch located at 737 Taylor Rd., Windsor, PA is always looking for dedicated volunteers that will commit to at least a 2 hour shift per week at the rescue.  Volunteers work in play yards, help with laundry and feeding.  Some enjoy landscaping or carpentry projects and some like to bake for the healing center visitors :)Thank you for supporting our mission of caring for the elderly and medically needy souls that need us!Well I was 'purchased' by a senior citizen.  He was 78 and I was a puppy :(  I had to be around really big dogs.  By the time I was 2 I had learned that I needed to protect myself.  My owner had realized he was to old to handle a puppy.  To say it was a mess was an understatement :(   My owners daughter started calling all around looking for help to place me.  She told the people I was food aggressive, dog aggressive and only liked males so of course most rescues the SPCA included didn't want anything to do with me :(Lucky for me Lynn decided she wanted to meet me.  She took my leash and we went for a walk.  I just knew by the way she walked with me that she was in charge and I didn't have to be.  She picked me up and carried me for a little while and I decided I liked it!She brought this big dog Millie into the play yard.  Oh no I was scared but Lynn seemed to think it would be alright so I decided to see what would happen.  Millie was very nice and she gave me my space hmmmm I think I might be OK with dogs.  The next day I came for a visit at the ranch for the day.  I met ALL the dogs and it was OK no one wanted to hurt me!!  Now I run around the ranch and I am part of the pack and guess what I like EVERYONE!  I'm even OK with female humans!!!  Life is GREAT!!  PLEASE if you are a senior be smart and don't get a young dog get a dog that is more your age and activity level and one that won't be left behind to start over when you are gone.  Its not fair.  I know other people can take the dog but boy would you like to have your world turned upside down and start all over again just because someone was selfish enough to not think ahead???MUST HAVE FENCED YARD AND ANOTHER DOG Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet. Please fill out an adoption application: Adoption application (Dog) Adoption Application (Cat)   Please understand we do not adopt out dogs to families with children under the age of 5. We do not adopt dogs to renters. Some dogs will have fence requirements while others may not.   A pet is a lifetime commitment. The dogs and cats in our system find themselves there, for the most part, because their humans did not have the same loyalty to them as they did to their owners. We do not take the adoption process lightly, and will do everything in our power to make sure the animal is placed correctly the first time around for your sake and theirs. Thank you for choosing to adopt not shop!May 31, 2023, 5:06 pm

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Fostering is a very important part of rescue because it allows more animals to be saved. There is a capacity on how many dogs Peace Love & Poms Rescue can have at one time and sadly we can’t save every dog that needs our help. Every foster home that welcomes a foster dog, opens a space at the rescue so that another dog can be saved.  Fostering also provides an in-home experience, which makes the dog that much more adaptable.  Fostering is extremely rewarding and you are helping to save innocent lives. Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.June 5, 2023, 2:06 pm

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Ruffles is a beautiful 11 year old, 9 pound male sable Pomeranian looking for his happily ever after! This poor guy found himself in a busy NY shelter as a senior and we just don't know why.  Despite his age, Ruffles is a spry guy who knows what he wants!  He isn't a fan of bigger dogs and doesn't play with other dogs, but he does like the company of dogs.  He follows their lead in day to day life. It does take Ruffles time to warm up in new places with new people, but once he settles in he will be your constant cute shadow, demanding treats, and wanting to be snuggled up with you.  This boy is healthy overall, but we do have him on joint supplements and a little gabapentin twice a day to keep him feeling young.  Ruffles is leash trained, crate trained, rides well in a car, and now that he is neutered, he is much better with potty habit whether on a pee pad or outside. All this old guy needs is a home that will give him some time to get his bearings and then he will be your best friend!   To adopt Ruffles, please complete an adoption application at peacelovepoms.rescuegroups.org. The $350 adoption donation ($250 for senior citizens 65+) includes core vaccines (Rabies, Parvo/Distemper, and Bordatella), Accuplex (Heart worm and Lyme test), fecal, bloodwork, microchip, neuter, dental, and all the love you can handle!Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.June 5, 2023, 2:06 pm

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Gino oh Gino where do we begin!  This gorgeous little 8 pound 8 year old guy is an anxious mess who likes consistency.  Once he arrived to PLPR he took almost a month to settle in and trust us.  During those first weeks, we did keep a leash attached to his harness so he wasn't startled or stressed out by handling. This little man seeks his trusted humans for comfort when he is scared, which is all the time. He is on anxiety medication that has helped, but he still has his quirks.  He isn't too keen on walking across hard flooring, but with some coaxing he does.  He is still working on house training, but is much better now that he is neutered.  He does best in an adult only home and while he would prefer to be the only dog, he does do well with dogs that aren't energetic and will leave him alone.  Once Gino settles in he will be your shadow, want held, and be with you. He really needs a calm home that will give him all the space and time to settle in and not expect him to be okay with handling.  After he settles in you will know because he will stand up and hug your leg which is his way of saying I love you now hold me.  He is the most adorable little man, and should be kept groomed with a puppy cut because he hates being brushed and will let you know!  He also isn't a fan of the vet, but with a muzzle and soft hug he will allow everything that needs to be done to keep him healthy.  We are hoping a patient family without children will give this guy a chance to be loved and cherished, quirks and all. To adopt Gino, please complete an adoption application at peacelovepoms.rescuegroups.org. The $350 adoption donation includes core vaccines (Rabies, Parvo/Distemper, and Bordatella), Accuplex (Heart worm and Lyme test), fecal, microchip, bloodwork, neuter, dental, and all the love you can handle once Gino settles in.Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.June 5, 2023, 2:06 pm

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Pookie is a beautiful, 3 year-old, 16 pound, blue eyed PomChi looking for his happily ever after!  He never left his house until he came to PLPR and will benefit from positive socialization. This guy is amazing and sweet; house trained, crate trained, and likes car rides. Pookie will need a fenced yard because he has never been leash trained, in fact he has never had a harness on before either so it will take some time before he is accustomed to using these foreign contraptions. Pookie does bark at people he doesn't know when they come to his foster home, but he will get better with socialization and having visitors give high value treats. He doesn't have a mean bone in him so it's all bark. He loves other dogs, toys, and his favorite thing is snuggling with his humans. Pookie even does well for grooming and vet visits! Now that he has finished his vetting, all he needs is his happily ever after! To adopt Pookie, please complete an adoption application at peacelovepoms.rescuegroups.org. Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Tater Tot is an adorable little 7 pound, 18 year old PomChi looking for his forever home. He is a neutered toothless guy with cataracts, bad knees, bad hips, and an ailing heart (Grade 3 heart murmur) Despite all that, this little guy is perfect!  He loves soft beds, snuggling with his humans, and is indifferent to other animals (he shares his beds without issue). He has never been on a harness and leash, but with his age and lack of speed he can be pottied outside without issue under human supervision. He eats pureed food and takes some medication to help his pain. Tater Tot just needs a family that will love him no matter what for the rest of his days. Won't you give an old guy a soft place to land, he will be sure to steal your heart! To adopt Tater Tot, please complete an adoption application at peacelovepoms.rescuegroups.org.
