I've had Rowena for about a year. I also have a mixed rat terrier, Chiquita. Rowena came from a breeder who had bred her 2x and then spayed. At the time I was caring for my mother with Alzheimer's and wanted a sister for Chiquita. I was told she was housebroken but she lived in the country, & she has accidents. She will go on pads. I crate her at night and that has been working. She is very bonded with Chiquita. During the time my mother was in assisted living I used to care for other's pets, & she came from a client. I gave that up when Mom needed memory care & I took her in; she passed over yr ago and now I have no real family. Chiquita is a very smart, loving dog. she too has accidents. I've struggled w/this decision; heart breaking. I live alone and have no kids. I've been diagnosed w/an illness that will require radiation down the line and can't see how I can care for them. They must go together, they love each other. I can send videos. I have Mom's cat so I can still feel loved.

You can fill out an adoption application on our website, www.herorescue.org/adopt. Once your application is approved it will be sent to the foster family that is currently caring for the dog. They will be able to provide information on likes, dislikes, personality, etc. They will also schedule a time for you to meet the dog. We do require a home visit prior to adoption.
