Story
Posey and her siblings came to WCHS a little under socialized but have already made great strides with time, love and patience. Posey is a pug/bulldog mix who is 6 months old and 33 lbs. She will take some time and patience to warm up to new people, but once she warms up is a goofy and affectionate girl! She has done well meeting some other similar sized dogs. Posey has also met a few older kids and done well, but they must understand she is nervous, so they will need to go slow, being gentle and calm, and allow her to come to them on her terms. Posey loves to go on walks, explore, and crawl into staff's laps to get love! We would love for her to go to a home with Pug or Bulldog experience.

Rudy is a 3 year old, 45lb terrier/pug mix looking for his new home! He loves to walk around investigating the grounds and rolling around in the grass. He has great form with summersaults too. Rudy is a nervous dog who will need a less busy home with plenty of patience. Rudy does best with routines so he can comfortably expect what is coming. Once Rudy starts gets to know you, he will be ready to give all his love! He is always rolling over for belly rubs from staff or giving a hug. This sweet guy just needs a safe place to land. Rudy doesn't seem to mind other chill dogs. He hasn't been interested in playing with other dogs but does fine hanging out around them or going for walks.

Introducing NEWMAN! How handsome is this boy?? He is pug-a-licious in all the best ways. He was surrendered by a breeder for unknown reasons and we were so happy we were able to help him. We were told he was 8 years old and weighs 25 lbs. He is a friendly, happy, snorty boy. He loves pets, attention, and food. He has a phenomenal personality and so far has gotten along with all the other dogs (large to small), children, and cats. He is perfection. He is crate trained and he is doing pretty well with his potty training. He is currently wearing a belly band in the house because he has been caught marking a few times. His neuter is scheduled for July 11th, so hopefully after the neuter that behavior will subside, but for now he is a champ at wearing the band. Newman did have crystals in his urine, so he is on a special prescription urinary diet and he will be rechecked to see if they have dissolved at the time of his neuter. We anticipate that he will need to be maintained on the prescription diet long term. Other than that - he had a clean bill of health. He will be getting a dental cleaning on July 11th, as well, so he will be smooch-ready for all the kisses he wants to give. Newman's adoption donation of $450 helps cover the cost of his medical care. Pug experience is a bonus! Adopters must live within a 1.5 hour driving distance from Romeoville, IL. We look forward to your response in regards for this delightful gentleman, but when you do, please use our application at sparrowdogs.com, or tell us a bit about yourself please. Meet Otto, he is perhaps a Pugchi, part Pug and part Chihuahua. We think the Pug genes gave him his love for the sedentary life, appetite and some girth. His Chihuahua side of the family tossed in a little bit of spice into that mix and gave him just a dash of attitude. He is a man of leisure. He enjoys a fine meal and a soft bed. He prefers his blankets swirled around his portly frame. Occasionally his face will poke out, just for a sniff, perhaps there is a snack headed his way?? Or...one of the other foster dogs might need his stern guidance if things are getting a little willy nilly. He does not suffer fools lightly.(lol) Well, with that said, that is the reputation Otto tries to uphold. He wouldn't want anyone to know that he really has a fun side, ya know! He can be a little cantankerous on occasion, but all that amounts to is a few grumbles. He wouldn't want to admit it, but he has had a lot of fun running around with the playful dogs in the yard. Even at 8-9 years old, he can be a spunky guy. Otto enjoys spending his time relaxing on a soft bed. He is looking for a more laid back home, and one that will understand that he may need a little time to get to know you. He will do well in a a dog savvy home that understands that it takes time to develop some relationships, and those can be the best ones!! He can be fine with kids, but we think perhaps teens, no little guys. Otto is fine with women, but really prefers men, he would like a buddy to hang around with.
