Meet Cocoa Belle — a seasoned sweetheart ready for her forever team Cocoa Belle, born 01/01/2020, has officially retired from breeding and is now ready to enjoy the life she deserves as a beloved family dog. While she is registered as a Pug, based on her size and the length of her muzzle, we suspect she may actually be a Puggle mix (which would include some Beagle). Either way, what matters most is her wonderful personality — and this girl truly has the best of both worlds. With her age comes a lovely balance of energy and calm. Cocoa Belle is the perfect mix of playful and relaxed, happy to enjoy some fun and attention but just as content to settle in and relax with her people. She has been around kids her entire life and understands how to respect their space without jumping up, making her an easy addition to a family home. She does great with cats, kids, and other dogs, and her adaptable personality means she could thrive with an active family or a quieter, homebody-style household. If your days are busy, Cocoa Belle will be perfectly fine holding down the fort while you’re out, then happily making the most of playtime and family time once everyone is home. Salty is a sweet, compact little guy with a big heart and an even bigger love for people. Around 2 years old and about 20 pounds, Salty came into animal control with his buddy Riff Raff, and the two have been thriving in foster care ever since. We believe Salty may be a French Bulldog/Pug mix - he’s playful, social, and happiest when he’s close to his humans. He enjoys romping around with other dogs, soaking up attention, and being part of whatever you’re doing. Salty is currently undergoing heartworm treatment, fully covered by Dogs 4 U Rescue through our vet partner in Naperville. Because of this, adopters must be local to ensure he can complete his treatment schedule. Salty can be adopted with Riff Raff or separately - either way, he’s ready to bring joy, snuggles, and nonstop companionship to a forever home. -Local adopters only during treatment

Riff Raff is a fun-loving, affectionate little boy who is always ready to play - and just as ready to curl up right beside you afterward. Around 2 years old and about 20 pounds, Riff Raff arrived at animal control with his best pal Salty, and they’ve been an adorable pair ever since. Thought to be a French Bulldog/Pug mix, Riff Raff has the perfect combo of goofy charm and loyal sweetness. He loves other dogs, adores people, and thrives when he can be close to his person - whether that’s on the couch or following you from room to room. Riff Raff is currently being treated for heartworm, with all medical care provided by the rescue through our Naperville vet. To stay on track with treatment, adopters must be local until he is fully cleared. Riff Raff can go home with Salty or on his own — but either way, he’s going to make someone an incredibly lucky best friend. -Local adopters only during treatment

Story
Freddy is a complete lovebug and clown. He is great with other dogs of all sizes. LOVES kids. Good with cats. He prefers zero exercise and sleeps from 8-5 while I work from home. He is house trained, exceptionally trained in obedience (for example, you can point to a flat surface in your home and say ‘place’ and he will stay on that spot until you tell him to release) walks on a leash like the champion potato he is. He loves being around people and being on a lap, but also does great being left home for extended hours. He’s 8 and does take allergy and anxiety meds, but excepting these two things is a healthy guy. He is a wonderful dog. He has had a difficult time acclimating to the busy city and the associated noise. Particularly, he’s randomly developed an aversion to astroturf, so we have to walk several blocks which subjects him to the noise and chaos that has been overwhelming him. I’m in no rush to find him a better option and will be prioritizing finding the right fit.

Meet Ringo, a 1-year-old English Bulldog/Pug mix weighing about 45lbs. Ringo has had a rough start and is looking for a patient, dedicated home to help him blossom. He is dog friendly and very curious about other dogs, we think it would be very beneficial to have a friendly, confident dog in the home. Ringo can jump or climb any barrier or fence. He cannot be off leash outside at all as he will escape and run away. Ringo is quite nervous and will need a couple meet and greets to get comfortable. Once he is comfortable, he thinks he is a lap dog and will jump onto staff or into their laps. His ideal home would be without kids and in a quieter environment, away from a lot of traffic.If interested in Ringo, please understand he will be foster-to-adopt as he will need time to decompress. We also have a behaviorist we utilize to help with the transition and adjustment.

Story
Sam is a sweet pug looking for an experienced patient family that speaks 'dog'. Sam is a breeder release from a commercial facility. He hasn't had the benefit a dog his age might have who was born in a home. That being said, while he is scared and timid, once he feels safe he is longing to bond with a family. He will likely always be timid. He needs family who will help him slowly decompress and adjust in his own time. Sam s a friendly gentle guy He needs a fenced in yard for his potty place. He doesn't understand leash walking. Pugs tend to be Velcro dogs. They want to be close to a human, Sam is friendly, wags his tail and then retreats, He wants to be cared for, He needs to relax enough to know he can move forward without fear, He needs a patient adopter without expectations he will change but will give him the time to allow him to if he chooses, Like all dogs, he will need structure and a patient, loving home. We recommend training for all dogs, not only to give Sam important learning skills, but because you and your dog will create a stronger bond just by going through the training together. Sam is fully vetted. She has been neutered, received age-appropriate vaccines, and is microchipped. Subsequent vaccines will be at the expense of his adopter. His adoption fee is $800..00. He is on the hunt for his own completely committed family. Little dogs can live to be 20+ years old, so Sam wants to be sure his family is all in for better or for worse! IF INTERESTED IN A PUPPY (UNDER 12 MONTHS): You must have a flexible work schedule or someone home all day. Puppies need to be let out to potty often. They need socialization, bonding, and training (housetraining and behavioral training). If you work long hours, have a busy social schedule, or are not financially secure, then a puppy is not for you. We adopt in the local Chicago metro area. We require home visits.
