Story
Summer Shandy is a confident, social butterfly who never misses an opportunity to make a new friend. Whether she's greeting visitors, joining family activities, or soaking up attention from her favorite humans, she's happiest when she's part of the action. While she gets along wonderfully with the dogs, cats, and children in her foster home, it's clear that people are her favorite. If given the choice, she'll pick human companionship every time! This food-motivated girl is always eager to learn and loves earning treats for a job well done. She's also a huge fan of playing catch with her ball and will happily show off her retrieving skills whenever you're ready for a game. Once playtime is over, she's just as content to curl up nearby and relax. She has mastered the art of balancing fun and downtime, making her a wonderful fit for many different lifestyles. She is curious, friendly, playful, and always excited to see what the day has in store. She enjoys leash walks and is a fantastic walking companion. She can get a little excited and jumpy at times, especially when meeting new people, but she redirects easily and is eager to please. In a multi-dog home, Summer likes to be the one calling the shots. She does well with calm, respectful dogs and would thrive with canine companions who are comfortable letting her take the lead. She could also be perfectly happy soaking up all the attention as your one and only pup. Quick stats! --Dogs: gets along well with dog, but prefers being the alpha --Cats: gets along well with cats --Children: gets along well with children --Likes: playing catch, leash walks, and relaxing with her people Training Report Card: ⭐ House Training: A+ ⭐ Crate Training: Getting better every day! ⭐ Great with kids, dogs, and calm cats If Summer Shandy sounds like the right fit for your home, fill out an adoption application today! muttsofthemidway.org/adopt

Story
This little guy is neutered and fully healthy! He is up to date on vaccines. He is also microchipped! 💧: Housebreaking - Working on it! He can still have accidents as he is still learning, so needs an adopter who will help him perfect his potty training! 🏠 : Crate Training - He has not been left at home alone yet since being in our care 🚶: Leash walking - He can be reactive to other dogs he sees on walks. He will need to keep working on this, but has otherwise done well on leash! 🐶: Dog-friendly - He lives with a resident dog in his foster home and has been doing so well with her! He loves to snuggle and play with her, and seems to gain confidence from her presence. 😺: Cat-friendly - He has not had any interactions with cats while with us 🧒 Kid-friendly - He hasn't had close interaction with kids while in our care If Sparxxx had to be described just one way, it would be "ear-centric." Mounted right atop his head, this little guy's ears are so central to his being and personality that it would be easy to believe they run his entire body. This little man's ears are always moving — up, down, forward, backward, floppy, folded, and everything in between — and watching them bounce around on walks is an adorable delight. Sparxxx is a snugglebug who will happily curl up under your arm, next to your seat, or right on top of you. He's a sweet boy who just wants to be close to his people, and when his big eyes look up at you, it's impossible not to feel honored that you get to be on the receiving end on his affection. 💰 Sparxxx's adoption fee is $300, and he hopes you "get it right" and take him home! 🧬 This pet has not been DNA tested, we are unsure of their actual breed makeup, but these are the breeds we think they look like! 🩷 Next steps: Email adopt@onetail.org with questions, or submit an application online and we'll be in touch to schedule a meeting: https://www.onetail.org/apply-to-adopt/. Our adoption application stays on file for one year and can apply to any dog in our program. Once the app is submitted you will receive an email within 48-72 hours. For additional questions, email adopt@onetail.org.

Story
Sam is a sweet pug looking for an experienced patient family that speaks 'dog'. Sam is a breeder release from a commercial facility. He hasn't had the benefit a dog his age might have who was born in a home. That being said, while he is scared and timid, once he feels safe he is longing to bond with a family. He will likely always be timid. He needs family who will help him slowly decompress and adjust in his own time. Sam s a friendly gentle guy He needs a fenced in yard for his potty place. He doesn't understand leash walking. Pugs tend to be Velcro dogs. They want to be close to a human, Sam is friendly, wags his tail and then retreats, He wants to be cared for, He needs to relax enough to know he can move forward without fear, He needs a patient adopter without expectations he will change but will give him the time to allow him to if he chooses, Like all dogs, he will need structure and a patient, loving home. We recommend training for all dogs, not only to give Sam important learning skills, but because you and your dog will create a stronger bond just by going through the training together. Sam is fully vetted. She has been neutered, received age-appropriate vaccines, and is microchipped. Subsequent vaccines will be at the expense of his adopter. His adoption fee is $800..00. He is on the hunt for his own completely committed family. Little dogs can live to be 20+ years old, so Sam wants to be sure his family is all in for better or for worse! IF INTERESTED IN A PUPPY (UNDER 12 MONTHS): You must have a flexible work schedule or someone home all day. Puppies need to be let out to potty often. They need socialization, bonding, and training (housetraining and behavioral training). If you work long hours, have a busy social schedule, or are not financially secure, then a puppy is not for you. We adopt in the local Chicago metro area. We require home visits. If you would like to apply to be considered as an adoption candidate for Sam, please fill out an application for his adoption on our website at: https://www.rescuetailsanimalwelfare.org/info/adoption. The first step in the process is to complete an application. We are all volunteers with full-time jobs. We try to get back to all applicants within 72 hours. We are an in home foster volunteer group. We are not a brick and mortar, There is no building to come and view dogs. If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out to us at: RescueTailsAnimalWelfare@gmail.com. If you aren’t looking to adopt but still would like to help Sam , please consider a donation for her food, housing, and veterinary care.
