Lupo is a young, 20-pound Pug with the sweetest personality and a heart that's ready to discover just how wonderful life as a beloved family member can be. Estimated to be around 2 years old, Lupo came to rescue through one of Pet Haven's southern Minnesota rescue partners after living in a hoarding and breeding situation. While her past wasn't ideal, her future is looking brighter every day, and she's making wonderful progress as she learns what it means to be a cherished companion.Everything about everyday life is still relatively new to Lupo. When she first arrived in foster care, she had never experienced things like stairs, household noises, walking on a leash, or living comfortably alongside other dogs. Watching her confidence grow has been incredibly rewarding, and she continues to surprise everyone with how curious, resilient, and eager she is to learn.Lupo is a delightful mix of playful and cuddly. She loves stuffed toys, enjoys a good game of fetch, happily chews on dog-approved chew toys, and has plenty of adorable Pug zoomies to keep everyone smiling. After playtime, she's just as happy to curl up next to her favorite person for a nap or some quiet snuggles. She also rides nicely in the car and settles well in a travel crate.She enjoys the company of other dogs and would thrive with a confident canine companion who can continue showing her the ropes. She sometimes gets a little excited when meeting new dogs, so she'll appreciate a family that continues helping her practice polite introductions. Lupo is friendly and interacts wonderfully with well-behaved, respectful children. She has not yet been tested with cats.Lupo is about 95% house trained and does best with a consistent daily routine that includes several short walks. She's also kennel trained, keeps her crate clean, and sleeps quietly through the night, although she may occasionally share a few of her signature Pug noises before settling in. She isn't especially food motivated, so positive, patient training works best. Since she's still learning many of the basics, her new family should plan to continue her education with positive reinforcement and ideally enroll in a basic obedience class. It will be a wonderful way to build confidence and strengthen your bond together.Lupo has been diagnosed with dry eye and will need medicated eye ointment twice a day for life. Her medication currently costs about $65 per tube. As with many Pugs, her family should also be prepared for the possibility of future breed-related medical care, including routine dental care, eye care, skin care, and monitoring for breathing or heat sensitivity. She deserves a family committed to providing the care she needs throughout her life.Lupo's ideal home is one filled with patience, love, and consistency. Because she has gained so much confidence from having a canine companion, preference will be given to adopters who have a friendly, confident dog of similar size that can continue showing her the ropes and enjoy playtime with her. We may also consider applicants without another dog if they have a well-thought-out plan to provide Lupo with frequent, ongoing socialization with other friendly dogs, such as regular doggy daycare, or consistent time with a family member's or friend's dog. Helping Lupo maintain strong, positive relationships with other dogs will be an important part of her continued growth and confidence.She'll do best with multiple short daily walks in a quieter neighborhood while she continues building confidence around traffic and new experiences. It must be PUG season! Introducing Pita Pita is a young (less than 1yo) dark brindle pug vs pug mix puppy. She is a whirlwind of energy: pawing & nose booping the other dogs in her foster mom’s house until there is a train of zooming dogs all with a happy Pita in the lead. When not engaged in play with her buddies, she plays with toys, does amazing feats of parkour to jump onto laps for petting & cuddles, or collapses for a well-earned puppy nap to recharge. She was well loved & well cared for by her original owner who surrendered her to God’s Dogs Rescue when terminal illness rendered her unable to safely care for the puppy. Pita is enthusiastic, very friendly, loving, like all pugs. She is not yet housebroken. She is learning to use a doggie door or to go on potty pads in the home. Given her short attention span and “all things = play” attitude, housebreaking will require patience & persistence. Lily the Chug Are you looking for a small bundle of energy full of love, antics, & sass to liven up your home? Then look no farther than Lily the chug (3/4 pug, 1/4 chihuahua with a whole lotta chi attitude)! This long legged, grumpy faced little minx has adorable ears that either stand up at attention or rest crossed atop her head. Her overbite, often with her lip stuck on her teefers gives her adorable expressions. Lily has no enemies, loving to play-play-play with dogs & people of all ages & sizes. At her foster mom’s house, she cavorts with a 90# Great Pyrenees as much as she does with a pair of pugs. She’d also like to play with the cats, but she is too hyper for them & gets swatted. Lily does calm down to cuddle & actively seeks attention. Lily was a neglected outdoor pup until her surrender to God’s Dogs Rescue, so is still working on her housebreaking. She is currently in the early stages of kidney failure and needs a little extra care and gentleness, but what she gives back in return is immeasurable. She is the kind of dog who makes you seriously consider becoming a foster fail—and for good reason. She’s incredibly smart, wonderfully friendly, and simply a joy to have around. Puggles truly loves people. Spotting a new friend is enough to make her entire body wiggle with excitement! She has excellent manners out in public and has become a favorite everywhere she goes, whether it’s dog-friendly breweries, restaurants, parks, or neighborhood walks. She’s also wonderful with children and happily greets friendly dogs of every size with a wagging tail and a playful spirit. She’s currently living with two large dogs and a cat and fits right in with the family. While breed experience is not required, we encourage you to thoroughly research the breed and its financial, medical, and environmental needs to be sure this breed is a good fit for you and your family.  It is estimated that the average brachycephalic breed owner spends $2,000 per year on medical needs. In addition to other surgeries, this dog may have had surgery on their nares and soft palate to improve the quality of their breathing.  This will be partially reflected within her adoption fee.
