Welcome Johnny to CCPAL Rescue. Johnny is a 7-month-old Pug mixed pup. He is a beautiful tan color with a black muzzle. He has an underbite and a shortened nose. He is a bigger-sized boy pup in the liter. He weighs about 15 pounds now and will be a small dog full grown. He has an adorable underbite and is great with other dogs. He is active but not over the top. He has the curly tail like the traditional pug but maybe the curl is less tight. He is a laid-back boy and was easy to take photos with. They all have curly tails and the round adorable heads. Johnny is one of two boys in the litter. He was the last puppy to come out of his kennel as he was enjoying his nap. He was very workable and stood still and sat willingly on the table for the photo shoot. They are all affectionate and cuddly. They are very playful with their siblings. Johnny is social and would be a great dog to take to the local coffee shop. He loves all people and is call in loud situations. They go on a wee pad but are not fully potty trained. They are good in a crate and are getting regular attention and love at the Rescue. We don’t have the privilege of adopting out many pugs. We are excited to find the pug pups their forever home. We would love pug people for these pups, as they know the breed most. They will be spayed and neutered and ready for their forever home soon. Someone that doesn’t work all day every day is the best candidate for a puppy. These pups would be fine with children. We like them to be 8 or older as these pups are small and very trusting of everyone. Hi, I’m Juan Carlos! I’m a high-energy, playful boy who loves toys, exploring my surroundings, and spending time with my people. My favorite time of day is when my human comes home, followed closely by snuggling up together in bed. I’m also a serious sleeper, so when morning comes and everyone else is ready to get up, I might just need a few extra minutes under the covers! I’m a curious guy who loves investigating everything. I can be a little jumpy, enjoy playing, and sometimes show off my stubborn side when it’s time to do something I’m not quite ready for. I’ll need a patient family to help me learn good manners, basic obedience, and leash skills. I’m still working on potty training and crate training, too. I can be unsure when meeting new people or dogs at first, but I tend to warm up quickly. I think having a canine companion would be wonderful for me but not required. I sometimes pick up on other dogs' barking, and I can be vocal when I’m excited, playing with toys, or notice someone outside or at the door. I love people and enjoy being part of the action, but I can struggle a little when left alone, so I’ll need help building confidence and learning that it’s okay when my people leave. I can also grumble when I’m stubborn about being physically moved, so I’ll benefit from a family who understands my boundaries and uses patient, positive training to help me feel comfortable. I haven’t been around kids, and while I might do well with cats, that’s still a mystery. I’m still settling in and learning the ropes, but I have so much potential to become a wonderful companion with the right guidance, consistency, and love. Meet Tobias! This handsome guy is the definition of a chill companion. He’s happiest hanging out with his people, enjoying some leisurely sniffing on a walk, exploring the yard, and then settling in for some well-earned couch time. He may be a little on the slow side, but he’s perfectly happy taking his time and enjoying the journey. Tobias loves his people and is always ready for some attention. Sit down on the couch and there’s a very good chance he’ll hop up beside you, ask for pets, and give you a gentle nudge—or even lift a paw—if you stop before he’s finished! Sometimes he’ll doze off right there next to you, and other times he’ll decide he’s had enough attention and relocate to the other end of the couch. He likes keeping tabs on his people without needing to be attached to them every second. He does have some fun bursts of goofy energy, especially later in the day. When the mood strikes, Tobias enjoys a few zoomies, exploring the yard, or carrying his favorite plush reindeer around while looking like he has absolutely no idea what to do with all those big feelings. He’ll even do a playful bow and parade his toy around. His tongue also has a habit of making an adorable little appearance, especially when he’s sleeping. Tobias is wonderful with people and has been happy to accept pets from everyone he’s met. He currently lives with two resident dogs and does best with calm canine companions who are content to sniff and coexist rather than constantly asking him to play. He would likely prefer a dog who respects his personal space rather than a young, high-energy pup in his face. He hasn’t met children in foster care, but respectful older kids may be a good fit. Tobias is doing well with his routine and is great on leash. He’s still working toward being completely trustworthy with free-roaming privileges, but he keeps his kennel clean and has made good progress with his house manners. He may need some time and a gradual transition before he’s ready to sleep loose or have full run of the house. Tobias does best when his people are around and can have some kennel anxiety, particularly overnight, so his adopter should be prepared to continue helping him build confidence with alone time. A consistent routine, exercise, and patience will go a long way. At heart, Tobias is a backyard-hangout-and-Netflix kind of guy. He’s affectionate without being clingy, playful without being overwhelming, and always up for some sniffs, pets, and quality time with his people. He’s also a certified LOAF who could use a little help on his weight-loss journey. This big softie is incredibly affectionate — if you let him, he’ll gently kiss your face like it’s his life mission. He loves greeting his person with pure joy, sometimes so excited he forgets about going outside and instead insists on getting all his welcome-home pets first. Thanks to Embark, we did a DNA test to confirm her is 89% Shar Pei and 11% pug! He’s a happy, goofy boy who can match your energy perfectly. If you’re excited, he’s excited; if you’re calm, he’ll flop down and relax beside you — ideally in his chair, which he has very proudly claimed. He gets along great with cats and lets them do their thing, and he’s also made excellent progress with the other dogs in the home. He’ll even share gentle licks with them. Bernard listens well when treats are involved and knows how to sit, but recall is not his strong suit — especially around small critters. Given the chance, he will bolt, and the squirrels of the world definitely get a bark or two. He walks decently on leash but needs secure handling and careful door-watching. He’s still learning how to tell his person when he needs to go outside, so monitoring his water intake is important. While he has never pooped inside, he may pee if he drinks too much too quickly without a trip out. He also has a love for paper — any paper — and will happily snack on whatever he can reach, including toilet paper. Outdoors he enjoys eating grass and plants, so supervision is a must. Bernard enjoys soft toys and doesn’t destroy them. He loves chews too, but once they get narrow he’ll snap them and swallow the pieces, so those need supervision. You can absolutely be silly and playful with him — he thrives on that goofy connection. He may bark sometimes when left home alone, and while he’ll occasionally sleep with the rest of the household, he still gets a bit nervous around one of the other Shar-Pei. Even so, they’ve made great progress together. Bernard is a genuinely great dog — affectionate, silly, eager to bond, and full of personality. If his foster could keep another animal, he’d never be leaving. He’s more than ready to love someone wholeheartedly and make coming home the best part of your day. There's a new star in town, and this one has four legs! Meet Duke, a handsome 10-month-old, 45-pound Bulldog/Staffordshire Terrier mix (our best guess) who is ready to find his forever family. Duke is a happy, playful, people-loving pup who thinks everyone he meets is a potential best friend. He's wonderful with other dogs and loves having a canine buddy to play with. His favorite game? FETCH! He'll happily chase a toy, bring it back, and do it all over again. And if there's water involved? Even better! At home, she’s the ultimate cuddle companion—always ready for pets and snuggles, especially if it involves relaxing on the couch under a cozy blanket. When she’s comfortable, Opal is happy to settle in and relax, but she also enjoys following her people around the house like a loyal little shadow. While breed experience is not required, we encourage you to thoroughly research the breed and its financial, medical, and environmental needs to be sure this breed is a good fit for you and your family.  It is estimated that the average brachycephalic breed owner spends $2,000 per year on medical needs. In addition to other surgeries, this dog may have had surgery on their nares and soft palate to improve the quality of their breathing.  This will be partially reflected within her adoption fee. Josiah is a loving, goofy, stubborn guy who is happiest when he’s hanging out with his people—or taking a well-earned nap! He absolutely loves people and will happily soak up all the attention you’re willing to give. When he really wants your attention, he makes the most adorable Chewbacca-like sounds. Fair warning: when Josiah gets excited, he can be enthusiastic enough to knock a grown man over! Josiah is potty trained and does well in his kennel. He walks nicely on a leash when heading out for potty breaks and exercise. He’s also a champion road-trip companion and seems perfectly content cruising along with his people. He’s working on commands and hand signals, although, true to his stubborn personality, he sometimes feels that following directions is more of a suggestion than a requirement. He loves bones, keeping an eye on the neighborhood, and generally being his family’s personal security guard. He’s a big, lovable goofball with a lazy side and a strong protective streak. Because Josiah is deaf, his family will need to communicate with him through hand signals and other visual cues. He is smart and capable, but consistency and patience will be important. Josiah does have some specific needs that his future family will need to understand and be prepared to manage. He is protective of his people and his kennel and does not do well with other dogs entering what he considers his territory. He can also become growly and snappy around other dogs or people when high-value treats are involved. For this reason, careful management, appropriate boundaries, and continued training will be important. Josiah also has significant medical needs. He has allergies and has had a portion of his small intestine removed, so he requires a very specific diet. He takes daily supplements with his food and needs daily wipe-downs to help manage his allergies. He has completed treatment for heartworm disease and will need monthly heartworm prevention year-round for the rest of his life. Despite all of that, Josiah has so much love to give. He’s a funny, affectionate, loyal companion who loves his people, loves his naps, and has plenty of personality packed into one goofy package. Josiah is looking for a family who will appreciate his quirks, respect his boundaries, stay on top of his medical care, and give him the structure and patience he deserves. While breed experience is not required, we encourage you to thoroughly research the breed and its financial, medical, and environmental needs to be sure this breed is a good fit for you and your family.  It is estimated that the average brachycephalic breed owner spends $2,000 per year on medical needs.
