She is not looking for adventures or excitement, but rather a quiet forever home where she can receive lots of attention, love, and affection. She is about 2 years old and weighs 30 pounds. Selena has been spayed, vaccinated, and microchipped. She walks well on the leash, enjoys car rides, and loves to cuddle. She's great with kids, cats, and other dogs, and she would be a wonderful addition to any loving family. She doesn't ask for much other than a chance to be in a safe environment where she feels loved and cared for.

Story
Lana is a senior gal looking for a cozy place to land. She looks forward to becoming a lap dog and joining her person on slow, easy walks. Lana is low maintenance and enjoys long naps. She would do best in a home as an only pet or with gentle children and an older dog. Playful energetic dogs are a bit too much for this old lady. Lana can be timid and needs time to build trust. A slow, gentle touch will go a long way as she settles in. She'll reward your patience by climbing in your lap and giving you gentle licks on your hand. Lana is working on losing a few extra pounds and will receive a dental cleaning in foster. She is housetrained.  She is about 12 years old, and currently about 14 pounds.  Grateful Dogs Rescue incurs substantial veterinary and other expenses in rescuing our dogs. In order to recoup some of these costs, we request a tax-deductible donation for each adoption. The suggested donation for Lana is $200. If you are interested in adopting Lana, please complete our online adoption application at https://www.gratefuldogsrescue.org/adoption-process/ . One of our volunteers will get back to you. Adoptions are local, confined to the SF Bay Area. See our other available dogs at  https://www.gratefuldogsrescue.org/available-dogs/ March 17, 2026, 12:08 am

Story
Bugsy is a great buddy to have around. He is about 18 lbs and around 6- 7 years old. He enjoys going on walks and loves to wander around in the yard in his wheels or scooting along, play with his toys, happy all snuggled up with his people, and just hanging around. Bugsy loves the toys at his foster home and doesn’t mind sharing them. He is the sweetest and most loving guy you will ever meet. He has been around all sizes and breeds of dogs and gets along great with them He enjoys the company of other dogs but he would be just as happy to be an only dog if his person was around most of the time to keep him company. If not then he needs a canine companion for company. Bugsy is very affectionate but doesn’t require a ton of attention to be content.  He is pretty low-maintenance and will happily follow your lead. Bugsy doesn’t use his back legs but do not be fooled since he is still an active guy and can go many places with his wheels or rear harness. He is very good around young kids and lives with one now. Bugsy is exceptionally loving and eager to please. He knows what he is being told and if you are looking for a smarty to be part of your family he is the guy. He will bring lots of warmth and terrier-silliness to your home. Give him a chance and he will steal your heart. Bugsy also needs a new foster home if not adopted. He is now being fostered in Belmont, CA and his adoption fee is $275. Arrangements to meet our dogs occur after an application has been received. Please contact us at dogzonerescue@yahoo.com for more information about this great guy or for an application to adopt.

Story
Bean is a wonderful 7 year-old, 17 lb terrier mix. Bean is a classic terrier, with a big personality in a little body! He is energetic and loves hiking, playing with toys, and is very smart. At the end of the day, Bean loves cuddling and making blanket forts. Bean is an intelligent guy. He knows all basic commands, and even knows how to dance on command. He is food motivated, crate trained, potty trained, and learns new things quickly. Even though Bean has plenty of energy, he is pretty low maintenance and does well around an hour of exercise per day. Bean also does well left alone at home. Bean does well with other dogs out and about, but wants to be the king of the castle in the home. He has been indifferent around cats. Bean would do best in a home without children under 12 years old.

Story
Cleo is a one-eyed wonder and has completely forgotten about losing an eye in a dog attack.  Agile and athletic, Cleo is a 12 lb., 2 yr-old Terrier mix and displays Terrier behavior such as loving to play with toys, loving to go for long walks and is inquisitive about anything new in her world. Cleo came from a situation where she was under-socialized and displays fearful behavior. We are working on behavior training and she is becoming much calmer.  Little Cleo is potty trained with regular potty breaks.   Cleo is a one or 2 person dog, and makes friends with new people very slowly. She lives OK with a companion dog, and an ocassiional dog visitor, but we think she would prefer to be an only dog in her future home. Due to her young age and training, Cleo will age into a proper little companion. Grateful Dogs Rescue incurs substantial veterinary and other expenses in rescuing our dogs. In order to recoup some of these costs, we request a tax-deductible donation for each adoption. The suggested donation for Cleo is $300. If you are interested in adopting Cleo, please complete our online adoption application at https://www.gratefuldogsrescue.org/adoption-process/ . One of our volunteers will get back to you. Story
Trouser was adopted by myself and my ex-partner in February 2021 from the Oakland Animal Rescue shelter. At the time, we were told he was somewhere between 1 and 3 years old, making him somewhere between 6 and 8 years old now. Trouser would do best in a calm and stable household, either with a single person or a couple. He loves relaxing on the couch, playing with toys, playing games and doing training exercises at home. He also loves long walks around the city, sniffing around the park and the beach, and occasionally meeting new doggie friends at the dog park. Trouser is extremely food motivated, and loves treats! He also is a very quick learner. He is good with people and other dogs when he’s out and about, but sometimes takes a bit to get used to new people in the house. He does best in a calm and less social home environment, as too much commotion can sometimes make it hard for him to relax. He also loves going on car rides, running errands, and bopping around town!

Story
Shortly after his arrival at Muttville, canine kissing booth Cork joined the local welcoming committee. He’s the youthful Jack Russell chi mix with lots of leg, pageboy ears, and the markings of a Guernsey cow. Hard to miss and even harder to quit once you get a dose of his gentle sweetness and shy enthusiasm. A friend of dogs and a superfan of humans, he doesn’t jump up as much as insinuates himself, drawing the ear scritches, pets and snuggles he craves. He offers the aforementioned kisses and well-mannered adoration in return. He’s got plenty of energy and is sure to have even more when he gains a few pounds. Looking for a polite sweetie pie who’s going to love your cooking? Cork is the guy. (Bonus: He counts opening a can or bag as cooking.) Here's some notes from his foster: Cork has been very well-mannered in the home—calm, not reactive to noises, and he never barks. He prefers to sleep independently and is most comfortable settling in the living room on his own. He also doesn’t tend to explore the house much and is very respectful of his space. He’s incredibly affectionate and loves cuddling on the couch. He’ll happily spend most of the day snoozing by your side. He politely asks to come up on the couch rather than jumping up on his own. He has a great appetite and has been enjoying his well-portioned meals, as we’re working on helping him gain a bit of weight. Cork is fully potty trained and enjoys going on walks. We typically aim for potty breaks at most every four hours. On walks, he can be quite alert.
