Story
Cosette is about 2 years old and 13 pounds. Cosette earned the nickname “Cozy” because she truly embraces the art of slow mornings and long naps. She never pops out of bed without a full routine of big stretchies and sleepy squinty eyes. She sleeps deeply (with lots of adorable dreaming) and loves resting her chin on your leg.   Her personal motto might be 'sleep hard, play hard' because while she rarely uses her bark (I’ve only heard it during her dreams!), she becomes a happy little noise machine during playtime when her spicier side comes out. She absolutely loves squeaky toys — especially if she can manage to find the squeaker herself.   She is still working on her play manners and can become a little rough and overly nippy when she gets going, so she would do best in a home without young children. She responds well to calm, consistent correction and has already made progress. When very excited, stressed, or overwhelmed, she may want to hump you, but this behavior has *mostly* subsided with gentle verbal commands and as she’s gotten settled in.   Cosette loves other dogs and wants to greet every pup she sees. She would likely thrive in a home with a playful dog friend to help her burn off energy and continue building confidence.   Training-wise, she doesn’t seem to know basic cues like “sit” yet, but she’s attentive and eager to connect. She knows “no,” responds well to it, and has decent recall to kissy noises. She is fully house-trained and has had zero accidents in her foster home.   At her core, Cosette is a sweet, sensitive girl who wants to feel safe and connected. She’s looking for a loving home that will give her clear guidance, plenty of squeaky toys, lots of ear scratches, hopefully a pup friend to play with, and most importantly, a cozy spot right next to her person. Grateful Dogs Rescue incurs substantial veterinary and other expenses in rescuing our dogs. In order to recoup some of these costs, we request a tax-deductible donation for each adoption. The suggested donation for Cosette is $300. If you are interested in adopting Cosette, please complete our online adoption application at https://www.gratefuldogsrescue.org/adoption-process/ . One of our volunteers will get back to you. Adoptions are local, confined to the SF Bay Area. Story
If you’re looking for a mutt that is straight to the point and never strays from her objective, Dilly Dally may not be right for you – she thinks the journey is more important than the destination and often takes an (admittedly fun) detour! Miss Dilly Dally is the eldest of three siblings, and the other two have followed her to Muttville – you’re not seeing double (or triple!), there are, in fact, three beautiful brown and white darlings traipsing through HQ. This sweet senior has been an excellent big sister, but it’s tuckered her out – she now takes life at a more sedate pace. She would love to find a forever home where she can flourish in her golden years – do you have space to Dilly Dally? Here's some notes from her foster: Dilly Dally is very food oriented. She loves meal time and any snacks you may have to offer her! She absolutely loves to cuddling and be close to you, either by your side or in your lap.

Story
Buddy lost his Mom and Dad last year and we were hoping we would be able to keep him. He is 9 yrs old and weighs 9 lbs. He is the sweetest , most loving dog you will ever find. My sister and I have realized, Buddy needs a home with a yard and maybe children that can keep up with his energy level. He is very obedient and loves everyone. He sings with sirens and loves attention, which is something he can never get enough of. He is just a wonderful dog.

Story
Meet Hopper ❤️‍🔥🐾 Hopper is a 5yr old, 11lb, Rat Terrier/mix. Hopper is a super sweet boy. Hopper is an active fella, that likes to go for walks, likes to run and play with toys, and likes to play with other dogs. Even though Hopper has old fractures on his hind legs, that doesn’t slow him down, he is faster than any other dog here at the rescue and loves to run around and play. Hopper gets along with all dogs of all sizes and ages, but likes to chase chickens. Hopper also loves to be held and loved on. Hopper may not know many commands, but that is ok, he is treat and love motivated and will come running as soon as you call him. Love and affection is what he craves. Hopper is neutered, microchipped, vaccinated and up to date on his rabies vaccine. If you are interested in meeting Hopper, please fill out an application at www.broketailrescue.org.

Story
Cleo is a one-eyed wonder and has completely forgotten about losing an eye in a dog attack.  Agile and athletic, Cleo is a 12 lb., 2 yr-old Terrier mix and displays Terrier behavior such as loving to play with toys, loving to go for long walks and is inquisitive about anything new in her world. Cleo came from a situation where she was under-socialized and displays fearful behavior. We are working on behavior training and she is becoming much calmer.  Little Cleo is potty trained with regular potty breaks.   Cleo is a one or 2 person dog, and makes friends with new people very slowly. She lives OK with a companion dog, and an ocassiional dog visitor, but we think she would prefer to be an only dog in her future home. Due to her young age and training, Cleo will age into a proper little companion. Grateful Dogs Rescue incurs substantial veterinary and other expenses in rescuing our dogs. In order to recoup some of these costs, we request a tax-deductible donation for each adoption. The suggested donation for Cleo is $300. Story
I found Boris in the City of Merced over a month ago at a local park. Wanting to make sure he was safe, I took him with me to my home in San Francisco while I searched for any potential owners and reported him to animal control. I also took him to the vet and they confirmed that he's a pure Manchester Terrier, has no microchip, is in good health, and is approximately one year old. Boris is truly a wonderful dog. He is calm, sweet, and not aggressive at all, he is just extremely timid and fearful - it seems he may be experiencing some trauma from his time astray. From what I’ve observed, he also appears to be potty trained but nerves sometimes makes him pee. As much as I wish I could keep him, I travel frequently and don’t believe I’m the best long-term fit for his needs. I want to make sure he ends up in a stable environment where he can feel safe and continue to grow out of his trauma. I genuinely believe he would make an amazing companion for the right person.

Story
Bugsy is a great buddy to have around. He is about 18 lbs and around 6- 7 years old. He enjoys going on walks and loves to wander around in the yard in his wheels or scooting along, play with his toys, happy all snuggled up with his people, and just hanging around. Bugsy loves the toys at his foster home and doesn’t mind sharing them. He is the sweetest and most loving guy you will ever meet. He has been around all sizes and breeds of dogs and gets along great with them He enjoys the company of other dogs but he would be just as happy to be an only dog if his person was around most of the time to keep him company. If not then he needs a canine companion for company. Bugsy is very affectionate but doesn’t require a ton of attention to be content.  He is pretty low-maintenance and will happily follow your lead. Bugsy doesn’t use his back legs but do not be fooled since he is still an active guy and can go many places with his wheels or rear harness. He is very good around young kids and lives with one now. Bugsy is exceptionally loving and eager to please. He knows what he is being told and if you are looking for a smarty to be part of your family he is the guy. He will bring lots of warmth and terrier-silliness to your home. Give him a chance and he will steal your heart. Bugsy also needs a new foster home if not adopted. He is now being fostered in Belmont, CA and his adoption fee is $275. Arrangements to meet our dogs occur after an application has been received. Please contact us at dogzonerescue@yahoo.com for more information about this great guy or for an application to adopt.
