Story
Tula is a wonderful companion who thrives on genuine connection and love. Tula has a lot of love to give and specific needs that make her an ideal companion for the right home. Her comfort with other dogs and her preference for a quieter, adult-only environment are key considerations for anyone looking to adopt her. Her playfulness and intelligence would certainly shine in a home that can provide regular mental stimulation and physical activity, such as teaching her new tricks and enjoying outdoor adventures. For Tula, potential adopters should be prepared to provide a nurturing, attentive setting where she can form strong bonds. Given her discomfort around children, a calm, stable home with one or two adults would likely be ideal. Also, the presence of another playful dog could be a great source of companionship and help her adjust to her new environment more smoothly. It's important to find the right environment for her where she can feel comfortable and happy. Fill out an adoption application to schedule your own private meet and greet with this furry friend. Story
Vino is a loyal and affectionate companion who loves to cuddle and play. He is house-trained and walks well on a leash. He TOYS, treats, chasing after wildlife, hanging out on the balcony, spending time with his foster mom. He may do best in a home without other dogs (although he may do well with some guidance/training for resource guarding). Vino would thrive in a patient home where he can continue to build his confidence,  social skills with dedicated family who will work with him on his training and provide him with plenty of love and attention.   If you think Vino could be the perfect addition to your family, please consider adopting him today. Contact us to schedule a meet and greet and learn more about this sweet boy. Adopt don't shop! Story
Meet Sorel, your dog's new best friend! This little lap dog is a one year old Chihuahua mix weighing about 10 pounds. After being found as a stray, Sorel was actually adopted from us back in November. Due to absolutely no fault of her own, she was recently returned to our care. She loves a comfy bed, cuddling up near her people and having fun with the other dogs in her foster home before curling up for another nap. Could you offer the love and stability Sorel so deserves? Stop by our weekly adoption events on Saturdays from 12-4 pm at 372 Townline Road in Mundelein, IL 60060 to meet our adoptable animals in person. Story
Jet Available for Adoption Ever wonder what it's like to have a co-pilot who's equal parts adventurer and snuggle expert? Hi there, I'm Jet! Let me tell you a bit about my journey. I was found wandering the cold Chicago streets, but don't worry – that's all behind me now! At 10 months old, I'm young, energetic, and ready to find my forever landing pad. Want to know what makes me the perfect companion? Well, I'm a people-loving pup who always wants to be where the action is (and by action, I mean wherever you are!). As a rat terrier mix at 25lbs, , I've got plenty of energy for adventures, and I absolutely love going on long walks to explore the world with my humans. Though I'll be honest – I prefer to save those walks for the warmer days! Here's a little secret: I'm kind of a social butterfly, and I'd really love to have a doggy sibling in my new home. Having another four-legged friend would be perfect for playing and burning off some of my endless energy! When I'm not playing with my favorite crinkly toys or going on walks, I'm quite content just watching the world go by from a cozy spot. Think we might be a perfect match? I promise to bring lots of love, entertainment, and companionship to your life. Plus, I'll show you my special talent of being both an adventure buddy and a professional couch companion! Want to meet? I'd love to show you my collection of crinkly toys and maybe go for a nice walk together! I have been microchipped and neutered and have had a full veterinary checkup and vaccines. My adoption fee is $325. For more information or if you would like to meet me, please fill out an adoption survey at carenorthshore.org/dog-adoption-survey Tail wags and hopeful wishes, Jet P.S. Did I mention I give great cuddles? Because I do!January 11, 2025, 10:55 am

Story
My name is Capricorn and I am looking for my fur-ever home. Clicking on my picture is the first step in getting to know me! Potential adopters always ask a lot of questions about me. Here are the most common ones:Q: What is your back story?A: I heard that I used to live in a home with several dogs until my owner died. Luckily the volunteers at Almost Home Foundation saved me so I could have a second chance. I am currently in a foster home with two adult humans and two doggie sisters while I wait to be adopted. Q: What was it like when you first came to Almost Home? A: When I first arrived, I was terrified of everything. I don’t know if this was just my way of decompressing or if I am just a naturally nervous dog or perhaps both. But with love, patience, and encouragement, I slowly came out of my shell. I am still nervous but my personality is starting to show, especially when I am out in the backyard. I’m like a totally different dog out there, running around and having fun.Q: Are you housebroken and crate-trained?A: Yes to both! In fact, I love my crate. It’s my own little den where I feel safe and comfortable. Q: Are you good with dogs, cats, or kids?A: I am dog-friendly. I am skittish so children would be too scary for me. It’s okay if they visit once in a while but being around them all the time would be overwhelming. Older teens should be fine. I am not sure how I would be with cats.Q: Do you chew furniture, etc.?A: Nope. Not at all. I spend most of my day curled up in my doggie bed under a blanket. I’m so quiet that you hardly know I’m there!Q: Can you be left home alone?A: Yes! Just put me in my crate with a Kong toy and a blanket and I’m a happy camper.Q: Do you need a fenced-in yard?A: Yes. I am skittish and do not potty on a leash, I will also need a secure fenced yard for potty-time. It doesn`t need to be a big yard, just a secure one.Q: What is your ideal forever home?A: In terms of a forever home, I need someone with lots of love and patience to help me learn to trust. I am not a social butterfly that wants to meet everyone. I have not been very cuddly with people but I will sometimes let my foster mom pet me. Previous experience with scared/skittish dogs is a plus but not a must. Also, an overly busy home with lots of people coming-and-going would be overwhelming. And again, a fenced yard is required.Q: Anything else we s
