Story
Twilight was a stray dog in Phoenix that was rescued by teachers at a school after following kids at a cross walk into the campus. We weren't able to find owners. She is very friendly with young kids and dogs and would do well with cats due to her young age. She is about 4 months old and very smart and trainable. She learned the doggie door after showing her 1 time and was almost completely potty trained in 1 day with treat rewards . Very fast learner compared to all other puppies I've fostered (all time record honestly). She is very food motivated which makes training a lot easier. Great with my 8 year old daughter and special needs son. Is fostered with a GSD and Chow mix. She is spayed, fully vaccinated, microchipped and ready for adoption. She loves walks and does very well on the leash. She loves to cuddle and lay on her humans and the kids in the bed. We don't allow her to be on the sofa, but she is allowed on beds in our foster home. She is crated when we aren't home and at first wasn't a fan, but is adjusting. She can be a little timid towards men walking around the neighborhood, but when in the home she is fine with male friends or meeting my husband for example for the first time. This is probably due to being on her own at the start of her life and having a bad experience. She loves toys and naps throughout the day. The walks really help her with her puppy energy and making sure she isn't too hyper. Luckily they don't even have to be really long, but make a big difference. She is really the best 4 month puppy I've ever had temperament wise. Let me know if you are interested in meeting her or have any questions. Her adoption fee is $375. Thanks! Story
Morgan is a beautiful, smart female, young, Purebred rottweiler, and she checks all the boxes. She loves other dogs, people, including little people. She is good with sharing her toys and is not bothered if other dogs are around while she is eating. She has not been destructive. She does not show any signs of separation anxiety. She seems to be well balanced. She was found as a stray. People reported her in their neighborhood for over a week before someone stepped up to help her. Amazing that no owner has come forward. She is a winner!! You will not regret adopting her, she is pure joy! She knows some basic obedience and needs leash work. Her foster are working with her. Some things scare her and she will just hunker down, until she feels save enough to continue. All of our dogs would benefit from ongoing training. We believe she is most likely under a year old. Story
Gazan is amazing if you give him time to trust you before you put any pressure on him. He doesn't trust people too quickly, but it seems that it's a pretty solid relationship once you bond with him. It took me two weeks to get to that point, and it took my husband three weeks to get there with him. He does have a bite record. He bit his previous owner; Gazan was eating, and his owner stuck his arm through a pool fence to pet him, and Gazan got his hand. That is strange to think of him doing that because he seems very relaxed when eating. I have walked around him closely & picked up the water bowl next to his food bowl to refill it, and he didn't do anything, not even a growl or shift his weight or anything. I know that there were young teens in his original home, and he did fine with them. He is a ball freak, and you have to be willing to throw his ball for him - a lot. You have to have patience and contain yourself from touching him for at least a week or two. He will come to you when he is ready. He does not like strangers in his personal space, just like you or I don't, and he hates it as much as we do during Covid. I had a family come and meet him a couple of weeks ago, and they were playing with him, and he was doing great with them. Then he decided to take a little break and lay down on his bed. The dad decided to kneel right in front of his bed and talk to him, and he gave a little bark and a lunge to warn him to back up. That scared the guy, but Gazan didn't touch him, and as soon as the guy backed up, he was okay with him again. They were here with him for about an hour. I took him to a training class a couple of weeks ago, and rottweilers and their handlers surrounded us in 4-6 feet in all directions, and he was perfect. He walks perfectly on a leash and knows all his basic commands well in English and Armenian. He is highly treat and toy motivated, and that's also the quickest way to win his heart. From what I have observed, he matches the attitude of other dogs. If they are friendly, he is too. If they are aggressive, then game on. It's probably best to match him with a female, but he could enjoy a male friend. I recommend that he is not matched with a small dog. If you are looking for your companion dog to double as a guard dog, then Gazan is your guy. He can be very protective of the people he loves. He is a very smart dog, and his potential is only limited by the time that can not be invested in him. This dog can be a rockstar if you have time on your side! He is worth the trouble.

Story
Hi! I’m Ember 🐶 I’m a smart, playful pup who loves learning new things and showing off what I know. I catch on quickly and I’m always curious about the world around me—especially if there’s a game or a treat involved! I have lots of energy and an athletic spirit, so running, jumping, and playing are some of my favorite things. Whether it’s fetch, a walk, or just zooming around the yard, I’m always ready for action. When playtime is over, I turn into a total cuddle bug. I’m very affectionate and love being close to my people. I’m friendly with everyone I meet and I enjoy making new friends. My tail wags fast, my heart is big, and I’m always excited to share love, laughs, and adventures. I can’t wait to be your loyal companion and best buddy! Come Play with me in my Gilbert foster home!!

Story
Adorable, Tabitha is an 11 month old, 30 lb Boxer mix. As would be appropriate for her age, she is an active, energetic, silly girl who would love to find a forever home to play in. To get started on the adoption process, visit https://azfriends.org/testing/adopt.html to complete an adoption consultation form, and then stop by the Adoption Center to meet with one of our adoption counselors. Or you can just come and see us and fill out a consultation form upon arrival! No appointments are necessary and you can come and see us any time we are open. Please go to our website (www.azfriends.org) to fill out a consultation form then come and see us! We do require any family interested in meeting our dogs or cats to fill out a consultation form – this form helps us determine if the dog/cat and the home are a good match, since it is so easy to fall in love with a photo, without knowing the personality of the animal. Once you have filled out the online Adoption Consultation Form, just come in and see us (or come and see us and fill out the consultation form upon arrival)! Please note that ALL dogs and cats are available to the first home that meets the dog or cat that we feel is a good match. In order to help make the best match, we do want all family members (dogs and humans) to meet any potential new family member. Our adoption center hours are: Closed Sunday/Monday; Tuesday 10a-2p, Wednesday 3p-7p, Thursday 3p-7p, Friday 10a-2p, Saturday 10a-4p. We are located at 952 W Melody Avenue in Gilbert (zip code 85233).All animals are altered, vaccinated, microchipped, dewormed, licensed (dogs). Cats tested for FELV/FIV. Dogs tested for Heartworm. All animals are available to the first family that is a good match, and if we have more than one animal who is a good match, there will be a lottery for all matches. Note that families must have come in to our adoption center and spoken with an adoption counselor prior to any lottery (when we have lotteries, they usually occur on Saturday mornings).
