Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Panda was adopted at 2 months old by a loving family who unwittingly nurtured all her worst qualities. This resulted in an insecure and entitled dog who behaved poorly in the home. Since being surrendered back to Paw Placement at 2 years old, Panda has come a long way. She's currently in a home with multiple dogs, lots of structure and calm, assertive leadership. Panda plays with dogs of all sizes and ages, she's gentle when necessary and can get rowdy with dogs who enjoy a rougher play style. She loves to chew bones and antlers, and rarely displays her resource guarding tendencies these days. She'll do best in a home that sets boundaries - no dogs on the couch, lie down while people are eating - and is willing to enforce those boundaries. She walks nicely on a leash, is mastering her obedience (sit, down, place, etc) and is crate and house trained. Panda has some stranger danger, has done well meeting people who initially ignore her, and has been ready to receive affection from them within 15 minutes or so. She's the same with new dogs and, though she loves dogs and thrives with them in a home with strong leadership, in the absence of that leadership, she'll need a home where she's the only pet. If you are interested in adopting, please complete an adoption application.  Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.April 28, 2024, 5:42 pm

Story
When we imagine the life of a senior dog; it would look like several cozy places to lay, the finest foods and meds to help support an aging body, daily walks, car rides to your favorite places and endless amounts of love; like a lot of love. Unfortunately for Baxter, at 9 years old, he found himself in an overcrowded shelter, on a concrete floor and with an injury and skin/coat issues. We were absolutely crushed when we learned that the only way for Baxter to walk out of the shelter alive is if he had a rescue to back him. Not only did our rescue back him; we promised him the life he has always deserved! Baxter has been an amazing dog to rehab. His wounds have healed, his skin and coat are soft and shiny, and he has put on healthy weight! We have learned that Baxter’s love language is food and for that reason feel that a home with no children or older children 16+ would be best. Baxter is very tall and strong and would prefer a family that is not intimidated by that because underneath that big body is one of the sweetest hearts you will ever meet. He really enjoys being around his people, rides great in the car, walks well on a leash and is a social butterfly. Baxter hasn’t spent too much time around other dogs in our care but from what we have seen, he would do well as the only dog or with other dogs that do not want to play or jump on him. He enjoys keeping to himself and playing with his favorite toys! We hope you are ready to meet this gentle giant and give him what he most deserves...A HOME! Baxter’s adoption fee includes his completed veterinary exams, vaccines, microchip and neuter. Apply today to meet his handsome man! https://lovethemallrescue.org/baxter

Story
Gazan is amazing if you give him time to trust you before you put any pressure on him. He doesn't trust people too quickly, but it seems that it's a pretty solid relationship once you bond with him. It took me two weeks to get to that point, and it took my husband three weeks to get there with him. He does have a bite record. He bit his previous owner; Gazan was eating, and his owner stuck his arm through a pool fence to pet him, and Gazan got his hand. That is strange to think of him doing that because he seems very relaxed when eating. I have walked around him closely & picked up the water bowl next to his food bowl to refill it, and he didn't do anything, not even a growl or shift his weight or anything. I know that there were young teens in his original home, and he did fine with them. He is a ball freak, and you have to be willing to throw his ball for him - a lot. You have to have patience and contain yourself from touching him for at least a week or two. He will come to you when he is ready. He does not like strangers in his personal space, just like you or I don't, and he hates it as much as we do during Covid. I had a family come and meet him a couple of weeks ago, and they were playing with him, and he was doing great with them. Then he decided to take a little break and lay down on his bed. The dad decided to kneel right in front of his bed and talk to him, and he gave a little bark and a lunge to warn him to back up. That scared the guy, but Gazan didn't touch him, and as soon as the guy backed up, he was okay with him again. They were here with him for about an hour. I took him to a training class a couple of weeks ago, and rottweilers and their handlers surrounded us in 4-6 feet in all directions, and he was perfect. He walks perfectly on a leash and knows all his basic commands well in English and Armenian. He is highly treat and toy motivated, and that's also the quickest way to win his heart. From what I have observed, he matches the attitude of other dogs. If they are friendly, he is too. If they are aggressive, then game on. It's probably best to match him with a female, but he could enjoy a male friend. I recommend that he is not matched with a small dog. If you are looking for your companion dog to double as a guard dog, then Gazan is your guy. He can be very protective of the people he loves. He is a very smart dog, and his potential is only limited by the time that can not be invested in him. This dog can be a rockstar if you have time on your side! He is worth the trouble.
