Story
Hi, I’m Cody! I’m a 5-year-old pit/schnauzer mix and I’ve been with my family since I was just 6 weeks old. I grew up with babies, kids, and other dogs and I love everyone I meet. I’m gentle, affectionate, and fully potty trained. My family loves me very much, but sadly my little human has developed severe allergies to me, so they’re searching for a new loving home for me. I also have allergies and my family has tried many traditional treatments over the past few years without success. Now I’m on a special raw diet and natural supplements that have made a big difference in helping my body heal. It’s very important that my new family can continue this care. I love going on walks, playing, and then cuddling up for naps. My kennel is my safe space, but I’m happiest when I’m close to you or hanging out with other dogs. I truly am the best boy and have so much love to give. I hope to find my forever family soon.

Story
Animal Rescue of the Rockies believes every pet should find a wonderful and caring home. To ensure Left Eye #1 finds the best possible home, we ask you fill out our adoption application so we can learn more about you and your household. We review each application in the order submitted and will contact you within 48 hours  (please check your spam folder for our emails) .   Left Eye | 8-Year-Old Collie/Shepherd Mix | Gentle Companion Seeking a Cozy Home Left Eye is an 8-year-old Collie/Shepherd mix weighing about 29 pounds, with a beautiful black-and-white coat and a calm, gentle personality. She’s a quiet, sweet girl who enjoys a peaceful lifestyle and would be happiest in a home that appreciates slow days, cozy naps, and a loyal companion nearby. Left Eye is house trained and very easygoing in the home. If given the choice, she would happily spend most of the day curled up in her bed. She enjoys short walks around the block but isn’t interested in long outings—once she realizes she’s heading back home, she’s usually eager to return to her favorite resting spot. While Left Eye has had generally calm interactions with other dogs and tends to ignore them, she would do best as the only dog in the home. While she mostly ignores other dogs, she has shown some jealousy when attention is directed elsewhere and may growl in those situations. She will thrive in a home where she can soak up all the love for herself.  She is not a good match for homes with cats, as she has shown signs of cat aggression, including chasing and lunging. Left Eye can be shy at first, especially with men, but with patience she warms up and becomes a gentle, affectionate companion who enjoys belly rubs and quiet time near her people. She also has a playful side and loves soft squeaky toys, often carrying them around the house and taking them to bed with her at night. Left Eye does experience separation anxiety and will howl when left alone, which makes her not well suited for apartment living. She would be happiest in a home where someone is home more often than not—someone who can give her the steady companionship and constant love she so deserves in her senior years. Left Eye’s ideal home is with someone looking for a calm, loving companion and a relaxed pace of life. She doesn’t ask for much beyond love, patience, and a comfortable place to nap, and in return she’ll offer sweet companionship and a devoted heart.   If you and the dog are a good match then we'll connect you with our dog's foster parents to chat more in-depth. If both you and the foster agree that the dog is a good fit then a meet and greet is scheduled. We require applicants' dogs to meet ours to ensure they get along. We'll ask you to read and sign our adoption agreement and pay the adoption fee to complete the adoption when it comes time. Our adoption fees help cover the costs of saving more lives!  A home visit will be scheduled within one week of your new pet going home with you.  The adoption fee for this pet is $125. Our adoption fee covers the following: Spay/neuter Microchip DAPP vaccinations as age-appropriate for the dog.  Rabies vaccinations as age-appropriate for the dog. Adopters shall be responsible for all vaccinations after adoption. Please fill out an adoption application by clicking  here . Please give us 48 hours to review your application and respond to you. (Remember to check your spam folder for our emails!) We want our pets to go to a lifelong new home, so thank you for your patience during the adoption process! Please email dogs@arrcolorado.org for more information, as we can't accept calls.PLEASE NOTE:  The breed listed is the information we've received from the shelter.  Shelters usually guess at the breed, so there is no guarantee, as we don't DNA test our foster pets.  Here is some interesting info on breed identification:  https://arrcolorado.org/category/puppy-dog-tips/ Our adoption process is: 1. Fill out our Adoption Application online.  We'll contact you within 48 hours to answer any questions you may have about the pet. 2. If the pet looks like a great match, we'll schedule a meet and greet and ask you to fill out our online Adoption Agreement if you'd like to proceed with adopting.  Once you've completed the Adoption Agreement and pay the pet's Adoption Fee, you can arrange to pick up your new furry family member!
