Story
Phoenix's time was up at a California shelter and so he came to me as a foster in order to save him. Phoenix has been described as living art. With his gorgeous, soft coat of swirling red, brown, and gold and his ice blue eyes, he is truly a beauty from his head to his rare, polydactyl rear toes. His spirited energy only adds to his beauty, and he has positively enhanced and harnessed that energy through a training program where he excelled in the basics: house training, heel, sit, stay, and come. He even waits at thresholds! Phoenix has been socialized and still is puppy like. He is a dominant personality yet dog friendly. He is kid friendly as well and has recently been trained to keep all four feet on the ground so older kids or no kids is recommended until he shows consistency in the next few months. “ This guy brings sunshine to every interaction…and, at any time of day, he is happy to simply lean on you, snuggle, or prance through the activity of your choice.

Story
Cooper is a male GSD, approx. three years old. He was found running the streets of Stockton in June and picked up as a stray. By July 11, this sweet soul was suffering from kennel stress and was scheduled to be euthanized. Danielle and Peter read his plight and immediately decided to foster Cooper, who was on borrowed time. He was to be euthanized by 5:00 on July 12. Once outside of the shelter and in his foster home Cooper started to relax. And boy did he. He napped and napped like he missed a year of sleep. He slowly met the resident dogs in the house, observed the backyard chickens and peeked at the resident cat, sometimes barking to let him know he saw him. Cooper's silly side started to come out too. He gets the zoomies and seeks out affection from his foster mom and dad with head nudges, paws on an arm or leg, and a lean against them. Cooper is currently living with three older GSDs (two females and a male) and would do best in a home with an older, confident female dog to pal around with. Cooper is potty trained and sleeps in a crate overnight. He is working on leash walking, sit, and how to settle in his crate during the day for short intervals. He will need someone who is experienced, patient, and will keep a consistent schedule with him. This gentle boy is looking to connect with his forever person. FOSTERED IN ACAMPO

Story
Vinnie was found as a stray in Manteca with a severe wound on his hind leg. Thankfully, the leg was not broken, but the vet diagnosed some osteomyelitis in the bone due to infection. Vinnie was prescribed some high-powered meds, and with a lot of TLC, his leg did not have to be amputated. Vinnie is doing very well in his foster home. He is currently living with two dogs (a little female Terrier and a Senior female GSD) and kitties. And although Vinnie is respectful of his foster siblings, he can get a bit rambunctious and forgets his age and size. He is friendly with his foster kitties but wants to "head butt" and play with them so supervision is a must. Daily exercise is a must for this guy! His foster mom takes Vinnie on three-mile walks daily, and his foster dad started taking him on runs. Vinnie is housebroken and crate-trained, although he would rather hang out with the family. Story
Hudson was found as a stray in the Modesto (CA) area and was taken to the Stanislaus Animal Shelter on July 31 . The shelter staff described Hudson as "loving, leans into affection, knows basic commands, is easy-going, calm, takes treats nicely, and appears to be potty trained". He was temp tested with other dogs, and he was "generally neutral, although he was a bit too curious about a small dog in the beginning, but didn't demonstrate any concerning behavior". Sadly, like most Senior dogs, Hudson was constantly overlooked, and by August 30, he was placed on the shelter's euthanasia "Red List". Thankfully, a kind Samaritan offered to foster Hudson. Kris picked him up with one day to spare. He did well riding in a car and while getting a bath. He has shown no interest in the foster's small dog or kitties and appears to have no guarding behaviors. He also has a "soft mouth," meaning he takes food and treats nicely. We will update his bio as we get to know Hudson better. FOSTERED IN STOCKTON
