Story
Cardamom has already proven she will do anything for the ones she loves. Before coming to rescue, Cardamom was kept outside year-round. During the bitter cold of winter, she gave birth to and raised three puppies outdoors. Somehow, thanks to her incredible devotion and survival instinct, all three puppies made it through. By the time she arrived here, every hair on her body was matted. Her coat was one solid tangle, so she had to be completely shaved to give her a fresh start. Her hair is still short right now, but it will grow back beautifully. At around 3 years old, Cardamom is a sweet Shih Tzu who gets along wonderfully with other dogs and cats. She has left her difficult past behind and is ready to enjoy the comfortable life she always deserved. After spending her life taking care of everyone else, it's finally Cardamom's turn to be the one who is loved and cared for. Good fit: someone looking for a sweet, gentle companion who gets along well with other pets and deserves a lifetime of comfort. Adoption process: All adoptions are completed prior to transport. Dogs are picked up at designated transport locations. If an adoption doesn’t work out (rare, but life happens), we always take our dogs back. Location: Oklahoma (available to approved out-of-state adopters via transport) Health: Fully vetted (neutered/spayed, vaccinated, microchipped, heartworm tested) Adoption fee: $550 (includes transport + vetting) Bonus: Each adoption includes a 30-minute phone consultation with a professional trainer Transport routes: WA, OR, ID, MT, UT, WY, CO, MN, WI, IA, IL, IN, OH, PA, MD, NY, NJ Think you might be a good fit? Story
Meet Sunshine Approximately 2-3 year old, 10 pounds, Shih Tzu Sunshine came from a large hoarding situation where she lived with about 60 other Shih Tzus. Because of that, much of the world is still new to her. Every day she gets a little braver, a little more curious, and a little more confident. The biggest thing Sunshine is looking for is another friendly, confident dog in her home. She absolutely blossoms when she has a canine friend to follow. Our poodle mix has shown her that people can be trusted, laps can be cozy, and walks can be fun. If he hops onto the couch or climbs into a lap, Sunshine is often right behind him. She is sweet, gentle, and remarkably even-tempered. She is not barky, reactive, snappy, or demanding. In fact, the most noise she makes is an occasional little bird-like chirp. She prefers observation to drama and has a quiet, thoughtful nature. Sunshine walks beautifully on leash. Neighborhood walks are one of the highlights of her day. She especially enjoys exploring grassy areas, sniffing around the park, and trotting alongside her dog friends. She is not reactive to other dogs, bicycles, or passing cars. At home, Sunshine enjoys relaxing on the couch and keeping an eye on the household from a safe spot. Loud or unfamiliar noises can still make her nervous, but she recovers quickly and is becoming more resilient every day. Recently she calmly handled having a dishwasher installed by a stranger working in the next room—a big accomplishment for a dog who started out afraid of almost everything. She loves chicken, peanut butter, and the company of other dogs. She is also a funny little girl with some adorable quirks. One of her favorites is eating when nobody is watching. And when put under the faucet for cleanup, she dog paddles. We think she would thrive most in a calm home without very young children, or with older children who can give her space and let her build trust at her own pace. She sleeps quietly in her crate and handles being left alone without difficulty. Sunshine is still working on house training. She recently had a urinary tract infection and is currently in heat, both of which have complicated her progress. She does go potty when taken outside and is improving steadily. As her medical issues resolve and her routine becomes more consistent, we expect her house-training success to continue improving. What makes Sunshine special is watching her discover that the world is not such a scary place after all. Every day she tries something new, trusts a little more, and lets a little more of her personality shine through. She will need patience, understanding, and another confident dog to show her the ropes—but for the right family, watching her continue to blossom will be incredibly rewarding. All POSO Dogs come with: Spayed/Neutered Basic Shots (age appropriate) Fecal and 4DX testing Other medical concerns addressed before adoption 2 free one-on-one dog training sessions with a professional dog trainer Training received in foster home Basic supplies such as food, treats, leash, and collar PDFs of training material, local coupons, and dog sitter recommendations

Story
Pinto, shih tzu, 12 yo, 12.5 lb, male, neutered Pinto is an active 12-year-old shih tzu. He is very friendly with people and is thriving in a multi-dog household. He can use the dog door, was very well behaved at his grooming appointment. He enjoys the backyard, but will need secure fencing to keep him from exploring!  He is affectionate and playful, although he may need a little guidance in refreshing his household manners. He is a wonderful companion dog looking for his forever home. He is so cute both groomed and ungroomed that we provide both pictures :))  Adoption fee $200. Story
Panda  does have glaucoma and needs daily eye drops . PRANCING PANDA - This is a ...so-ugly-she's-cute little furball only wants two things: 1) to lay by your feet, and 2) to PRANCE across a grassy field!   When Panda arrived, we thought she was just a frail, blind Shih Tzu, but with a healthy diet, some love and lots of walks, she has rediscovered joy and is more tail-waggy every day. She's completely won over our hearts. Yes, Panda is mostly blind and mostly deaf, but that doesn't stop her from trying to be by your side and happily trotting along in the yard or during walks.    Panda is housebroken, quiet, docile, a great eater, a great sleeper (sleeps through the night) and is a surprisingly fantastic walker on a leash. She is indifferent to other dogs or cats and doesn't really play, but that might change with time. Panda would be perfect for a home looking for a very chill cuddle buddy with yard or park access. She would not be a playmate with kids and couldn't live an active outdoor life. She requires eye drops for her glaucoma and is mostly deaf. At first she might whine in her cage, but with time and crate training, she quickly becomes comfortable at night on her own.   If you want the joy of earning love by giving love, Panda is the galloping gal for you.  Put in an appliucation at eapl.com Her adoption fee is $375         July 18, 2026, 5:00 pm
