He settles nicely, enjoys being held, and would thrive in a home looking for a true cuddle buddy. Like many small males, he does currently have a tendency to mark his territory, so we’re keeping this sweet boy in wraps until after his neuter, which should help with this behavior as he adjusts. He came to Ruff Draft after being diagnosed with a Grade 1 heart murmur. The good news is this does not require medication or activity restrictions — he simply needs routine monitoring with a vet about every six months. His previous family loved him very much but felt they could not keep up with the ongoing follow-up care, so we stepped in to help him find a forever team ready to give him the stability he deserves. Dusty is an adorable 3-year-old special needs Shih Tzu. He was abandoned in our lobby by his owner, without saying a word. He was so confused as to what was going on, but he slowly began to trust. Dusty was so heavily matted we could barely see him, but when the veterinarians shaved his fur, they noticed his left eye had glaucoma. His eye was removed and he is recovering in his foster home. Missing one eye has not slowed him down. He is very inquisitive of everything around him. This poor guy needs a stable and patient home where he can learn that people are good and he’s going to be taken care of forever.

Meet Bobby! He is estimated to be about 3 years old, weighs 13.5 lbs, and is believed to be a Shih Tzu/Lhasa Apso mix. . He’s white with tan spots and gray ears. Bobby does shed but allows his foster mom to brush him daily like the good boy he is. Bobby is a big-time cuddler. While he’s not quite comfortable being picked up yet, he’ll happily crawl into your lap when you sit down. He’s still settling in and tends to be quiet and observant. He follows his foster mom around the house but is becoming comfortable enough to lounge independently on the couch or bed. We believe he would do ok with children. He can be cautious around new people though and may need some time and patience to adjust. He is crate trained and getting the hang of potty training. He is starting to notify his foster mom when he needs to go out. Bobby is very agile and can jump quite high, so he could easily escape a gated or penned area. He is doing okay in a crate and walks well on a leash. He isn’t playing with toys yet, and squeaky toys definitely aren’t his thing. He’s a good boy and doesn’t resist when being brushed. Bear is an adorable male Shih Tzu/Lhasa Terrier mix with a DOB of approximately 12/17/25. This sweet boy had a rough start — he, his parents and his brother were sadly left behind when their owner moved away. Unfortunately, his brother passed away before being transported to our rescue.
