Story
Lagos is a very loving 9-year-old male Shih Tzu/Maltese mix looking for a forever home.He does have a grade 2 heart murmur, mitral valve disease, and an enlarged heart. He has started medication to help his condition and will hopefully be able to get a much-needed dental soon. Lagos is looking for a home where he can relax and enjoy his senior days as much as possible. After losing his family, Lagos found himself in need of a new start. He is a very sweet boy. He loves meeting people and getting lots of attention. Lagos would be happiest in a home where his people can spend lots of time with him, as he does have separation anxiety. Lagos has met small dogs through the fence at the shelter and has done well. He hasn't met large dogs or cats yet.

Story
Emily is looking for a great fur-ever home! She is a 10 pound, female shih-tzu born on 12/05/21. Emily was released by a breeder who decided they did not need her anymore and has never been bred. She has lived in a cage her entire life, so she is not house or leash trained. Because Emily is very skittish and fearful, she will do best in a quiet home with a patient, experienced adopter (with no young children) willing to work with her and let her get comfortable at her own pace. She will need a fenced yard with another calm, socialized dog to teach her the ropes. She is starting to show her adventurous side by exploring her foster home, enjoying looking out the window, and being outside. Emily will be spayed at one of our approved vet clinics in the Chicago area prior to adoption. She is up to date on shots, micro-chipped, and heart-worm & fecal tested negative. We require an adoption application, phone interview, virtual house check, and meet and greet with your entire family. Story
Nikki is sweet and looking for a great forever home! Nikki is 7-8 months old and a very sweet and smart girl. She is playful, loves toys and cuddles. She does well in a quiet environment and is recommended in a family with older kids as she is afraid of sudden noises and movements. She’d do best in a home with another dog as she is playful. She is pee pad trained and we are working on her harness and walking but she is fearful of outdoor spaces. She would do best in a securely fenced yard. Nikki is a breeder release and is spayed, up to date on shots, micro-chipped, and heart-worm tested negative. Her DOB: 8/24/23 and she is a Bichon Frise crossed with a Shih Tzu.
