Hi, I’m Ivy I’m a 5-month-old Shih Tzu with a pink bow, a playful spirit, and so much love to give. I love toys. I love other dogs. Playtime is my happy place, and cuddles? Even better. I’m sweet, and always ready to be your little sidekick. I may be small, but my personality is mighty. I also want to share my story… I was going to be euthanized by my breeder — simply because I wasn’t “perfect.” Thankfully, a rescue stepped in and saved my life. Here’s my truth: I’m incontinent and I don’t have control of my back legs. I wear a diaper (and I’m very good about it!), need help with changes, and can’t do stairs. But none of that stops me from living a full, joyful life. I scoot wherever I want to go and don’t let anything dim my sparkle. He survived being shot and hit by a car, and later required FHO (a surgical procedure that removes the head and neck of the femur of the dog with hip issues that limit their mobility, ultimately restoring mobility) surgery. The good news? He’s fully recovered and doing well Due to his past injuries, Cheeto may occasionally knuckle (knuckling, occurs when a paw curls under, forcing the dog to walk on the top of its paw rather than the pads) on one leg, usually when he’s trying to move too fast or run. He instantly corrects it. It doesn’t stop him from enjoying life — it’s just part of what makes him him. He would do best in a home with a fenced yard and not many stairs. This sweet boy had a rough start — he, his parents and his brother were sadly left behind when their owner moved away. Unfortunately, his brother passed away before being transported to our rescue.
